5 Stars Possibly the best hand held console Review with images 16/08/2009

Advantages Advantages Sleek and stylish, vast amount of games, great fun to play, wi-fi enabled

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the best graphics and audio of the hand helds, still expensive

The Nintendo DS Lite The Nintendo DS Lite (“NDSL”) was released in the UK in June 2006 as a replacement for the Nintendo DS (“NDS”). The NDSL is approximately 39% smaller and 21% lighter than its predecessor, however the signatory dual screen remains the same size, which is some feat. In order to put this reduction in to perspective I have included the dimensions and weight of the NDSL in a ‘technical specs’ section at the end of this review. In order to reduce the size and keep the same screen size some changes had to be made to the NDSL, but they are purely cosmetic and do not interfere with ... more

5 Stars NINTENDO DS LITE - PERFECT FOR ALL AGES Review with images 26/09/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Perfect for all ages and very easy to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me

Whilst I would occasionally play games on my husband’s X Box, I had never had any burning desire to personally own any type of games console; that is until not long after the introduction of the Nintendo DS Lite. My gadget mad younger sister purchased her console within days of its’ release and continually nagged me to buy one. I resisted for a considerable time as in my opinion, it would be another impulse purchase that would get pushed to the back of one of my drawers and eventually car booted! However, my opinion soon changed when she brought her console to my home and challenged me to play ... more

5 Stars I Love it! Review with images 02/06/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, good range of games, sturdy

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be addictive

I’ve had my Nintendo DS Lite for what seems like forever; but surely it can’t be that long ago that my husband so kindly bought it (along with Scrabble and Braintraining) so I could entertain myself whilst stuck in hospital pregnant with my second daughter. A few calculations later and I’ve worked out that I must have had this for 3 years at least. This surprises me because I’m sure he paid around the £100 mark; and to my horror they are still selling for the same price, despite various upgrades and newer models! This tells me it must be a great console that people just love, well I certainly ... more

5 Stars Touch Me Review with images 21/06/2007
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Long battery life, great choice of games available, multiplayer capabilities are endless

Disadvantages Disadvantages Big handed people might suffer from their hands cramping, Wi-Fi access can be tricky

Seeing as both the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP came out at roughly the same time, and therefore seen as rival next-gen handheld consoles, I thought it would be appropriate to tell a little story. I watched a live instalment of a regularly broadcasted show on Gamespot.com recently. Now although the whole thing is presented by a bunch of middle-aged nerds, the material is always focused on the latest up and coming stuff from the gaming industry. One of the segments involved the dullest individual I have ever had the misfortune to listen to for fifteen minutes. He was a publicity rep from Sony ... more

    Advantages Advantages great new design

    Disadvantages Disadvantages possibly limited features?

The Nintendo DS lite looks great plays better! the DS will be hitting UK streets on the 23rd of June in either black or white finish. When the original DS was launched people expected great things me being one of them I had worked pretty much all year for this thing but when I had it, I couldn’t help but thing there was something wrong with it. However a true blue Nintendo fan such as myself was still not put of, almost! Then it hit me this is not practical and very bulky to hold Nintendo kind of messed up here. After the popularity of the DS dropped Nintendo had to do something to save the ... more

I have had my DS Lite for very nearly 2 years. My partner bought it for my birthday and I remember he paid around £100 for it. Since then, the DS has come on a long way and the Lite edition is no longer available (unless buying preowned), but the new version - the DSi is available from Amazon currently for £99.99. The games available work on both the DS Lite and the DSi. *What is the DS Lite?* The DS Lite is a small, hand held games console. It is very small measuring around 5 inches long, 3 inches wide and less than an inch thick. There are a great deal of games available for it making it ... more

Advantages Advantages Better design and finish than original DS, easy to set up and play, great battery life

Disadvantages Disadvantages Gets dirty quite quickly from fingerprints, top screen a bit flimsy when open

In 2006 Nintendo released their ‘Nintendo DS Lite’- a slimmer, more lightweight version of the original DS with quite a few design changes. It was a very popular addition to the DS console family, but at the time my sister and I stuck with the original handheld console. However in 2009 the original’s touch screen was too messed up for us to give it back to Argos and neither was it under warranty, so my sister and I pooled our money together to upgrade to a black DS Lite, and it’s been smooth sailing from then on! Packaging The console comes in a compact box, with an image of the DS closed on ... more

Advantages Advantages front runner in handheld games market

Disadvantages Disadvantages i haven't encountered any problems using the DS

This is quite a leap from the gameboy advance, a really huge leap with bells on it. The DS is a great little console, the portable handheld games market has peaked somewhat but it's the Nintendo DS that seems to still manage to come out on top. Nintendo has a long history of handheld games consoles and have captivated gamers since the original gameboy (we'll exclude the Virtua boy though!) So now i'll be taking a look at the Nintendo DS. The design of the console itself isn't stunningly beautiful per say, it's got a nice gloss polish finish and a rectangle clam shell design, and it's ... more

I was very lucky this Christmas in fact Santa brought me everything I wanted and a few surprises. Whilst on a train a few months ago I saw a girl working her way through 'Brain Training' with a peculiar looking pen and started to become curious at the same time however I started to read stories of people obsessed with gaming on their DS's and knew I'd never become a statistic so asked my mum and dad for one this Christmas. The thing is that like most girls (Ok so I am nearly 23) I wanted the pink DS and nothing else. My dad mentioned on a regular basis that the pink console was hard to get and ... more

Advantages Advantages too many to list

Disadvantages Disadvantages none that ive seen so far

How I Discovered It I knew about the DS like most other people, through word of mouth. I never had the desire to buy one until the beginning of 2008 when for some strange reason I set my heart on getting one. I think it was because I had seen the adverts for brain training on the tv a lot at this point, they were on almost every day. Then I played on my friends step-mums DS and that was it, my mind was made up, I had to have a DS, all I had to do was figure out how I was ever going to afford one. Price and Availability The DS Lite on it's own is generally £99.95 on it's own in most shops ... more
