...have no idea what the Nintendo DS is allow me to introduce you. The Nintendo DS is a totally different to Nintendo’s Game Boy console, something that can be quite hard to grasp as it is a portable console made by Nintendo! Nintendo says the DS is the third pillar (Game Cube, Game Boy Advance and DS) and will continue to support all three. The DS as you can see from the image above is a clamshell design with two screens that sit horizontally. I’ll ... ...is to look at the Nintendo DS on its own merits. A lot of reviews I’ve seen list the Nintendo DS’s features and then says something like “watch out for the Sony PSP in a few months”. Why do that, why? Surely a review of the Nintendo DS should review the console and not just dismiss it. I was always going to buy the Nintendo DS, I’ve had almost every portable console that Nintendo have ever made and have never been disappointed. I must say though ...

So how much do we owe to Sony for making Nintendo reveal the DS? It would be fair to assume the DS might not have been released if Sony hadn’t revealed their PSP and instead Nintendo waiting a year or more to reveal the next GBA. This seems to be the case as Nintendo are keen to stress that this isn’t the GBA2 (we get to know more about that this year) and is instead a ...

...Well what is the Nintendo DS? DS stands for Dual Screen, it is a Hand held Games Console, similar to the Game Boy Advance, but so much more powerful. It has two screens a top screen and the bottom screen, which is also a touch screen (that comes with a small stylus, that looks like a pen to use on the touch screen), this is what makes the DS unique. Nintendo have come up with other uses of the microphone, which are very interesting. For example in one game that I have you use the microphone to bow dust off an object and in another to blow bubbles.
What about the touch screen why is it so special? Well, It allows you to do so much more with the console and allows you to play more PC based games than most consoles do. In some games you can use the touch screen in the same ...

The Nintendo 64 and Playstation won, the Playstation particually. Sony won the large majority of the gaming market, with only a few still using N64s, but then it released it's PS2, and a lot of competitors jumped in. The Nintendo DS is part of a new genertaion of hand held consoles alongside the likes of the PSP. However, whilst the PSP is merely a portable version of an already existing console, the Nintendo DS is nothing like anything else that has graced our shelves before! Even though it is a portable handheld made by Nintendo, it is a huge step up from the Gameboy Advance SP, even though it can play its game in pristine quality.
For a start, the DS has ... ...equivalent to that of the Nintendo 64. It is a 64 bit hand held after all compared to the 32 bit capability of the Gameboy Advance. This means proper 3D graphics are there in the palm of your hands, ones that actually look quite impressive. Without you having to connect yourself up to the big screen! Whilst the Gameboys were generally seen as a traveling companion, this one can almost take over your living room console. I see this as an excellent ...

Nintendo are the original hand-held gaming giant. From the popular Game and Watch series of the 1980's to the global phenomena of the Game Boy Nintendo have always dominated and even destroyed the opposition. The Nintendo DS is the first of Nintendo's hand-held gaming devices to have serious opposition in the form of Sony's PSP. While Sony promotes the PSP as a multimedia device able to play games, MP3's, movies and the like Nintendo have created a machine that is purely about gaming on the move. Contrary to popular belief the DS is not an entirely original idea although it could be said that it is Nintendo's. The dual screen, flip-open ...

The Nintendo DS has been released. We got one of these early from America. There has been a lot of discussion about whether the Nintendo DS or the Sony PSP is better. ...got my Gameboy Advance SP, Nintendo announced the DS, their new dual screen handheld console and latest addition to the Gameboy family.
