    Advantages Advantages Larger screens, pen stylus, relatively inexpensive, versatile

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some of the features seem a bit pointless to an adult, larger screens means larger console

    I am the first to admit that when it comes to video games, I have little or no interest. I remember playing Space Invaders and PacMan in the very early 80s on arcade machines but the concept of playing a video game was lost on me really. I spent years watching news coverage of queues forming for the latest "must have" console and shook my head in bemusement wondering why something which seemed so juvenile had grown men (and to be fair it usually was grown men) waiting in queues for hours on end to be one of the first to own one. However it is unusual for kids these days not to have at least ... more

    Advantages Advantages Larger Screens, Better Stylus, New Features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none really but the system is heavier than the DS Lite

    **Introduction** For Christmas 09 I surprised my wife by buying her a Nintendo DS Lite console, for someone who isn't much of a 'gamer' but enjoys puzzles and word searches I thought it would be ideal for her to while away a few hours when we are away from home at our caravan. To that end the present was a great success and I must admit to borrowing it on more than a few occasions when I discovered the world of Professor Layton, seeing an opportunity and wanting to make a claim back on her own console my wife ended up buying me my own DS console for Christmas last year but rather than buy ... more

    Advantages Advantages fun; educational; larger screen makes it easier to read text;

    Disadvantages Disadvantages larger and heavier for little hands to manage; games expensive;

    I bought this for my 12 year old daughter's christmas and after using it for the past few weeks (in a more regular basis than I would have liked as it is very addictive) she is so far delighted with it. She had a ds lite which was broken beyond repair through rough handling so after reading reviews and talking to friends, I decided to go for the new dsi XL model, rather than buying another DS Lite as by all accounts, it was worth the extre £40. I managed to purchase it in Curry's for £135. The biggest difference between the DS lite and the new DSi XL model is the size of the screens. There are ... more

    Advantages Advantages Bigger Screen, Camera with Extras, Internet Browser, DSi Shop.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not many games make use of the camera.

    What Is It? Today I am reviewing the Nintendo DSi XL. The DSi XL currently comes in six colours, Dark Brown, Blue, Green, Wine Red, Yellow and Red. The Red one is a limited edition Super Mario 25th Anniversary bundle though so I am not sure how long that particular colour will be available for. Who Makes It? The Nintendo DSi XL is made by... you guessed it... Nintendo. It is the fourth version of the DS to be released, its predecessors were the DS, DS Lite and the DSi. The DS series follows in the footsteps of other Nintendo hand held consoles such as the GameBoy, GameBoy Color and Gameboy ... more

    Advantages Advantages Much larger than the DS lite and DSi, Better battery life than DSi

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No improvements with the camera, Less portible

    The 4rd generation of nintendo’s duel screen handheld console brings us the DSi XL. Evolving slightly from its other models Nintendo decided not to change too much. Design Not much at all has change from the DSi other than the fact the DSi XL has been supersized. The screens are now 3.60 inches instead of just 3.25 inch which is 93% larger than the DS lite. Back is the glossy-finer-print-magnet finish a lot of us hated, which is said to make it look more sophisticated. Weighing in at 315g the DSi XL is about 100 grams heavier than both the DSi and DS lite which might mean it can take a bit ... more

    5 Stars What is the DSi XL like? Review with images 11/04/2012

    Advantages Advantages Light, Reasonably large screens

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Runs out of charge easily

    The Nintendo DSi XL * Easy to use * Several applications available to download * Recommended for 6+ Introduction The Nintendo DSi XL, that adapted from the Nintendo Ds Lite, were invented by Nintendo 5 years after releasing Ds Lite. This clever addition to the Nintendo collection was invented by not a single person, but a whole team of people. Appearance In my opinion, I think that the two large screens are the perfect size to play games on, as are they for some of the downloadable software. On either sides of the top screen, there are speakers that enable you to listen to music. On the right ... more

    Advantages Advantages bigger screens brighter bigger stylus

    Disadvantages Disadvantages a bit big to carry about for portability

    Here we have another ds console called the dsi xl. The main big feature of this version of the ds is that the screens are MUCH bigger than its previous models, The screens are 4.2 inches. The dsi was 3.2 inches. It makes such a big difference when you go from the small ds lite to this big beauty. You can get them in 2 different colour's - wine red or black. You can get an import from america with different colour's. The stylus is much bigger and much comfier to hold and has a nice grip. You can increase the brightness a little more than the ds lite let u. That means some games will be easier ... more

    Advantages Advantages Bigger screen makes everything easier (pictochat, web browsing and playing games!)

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Does weigh a little more than the smaller dsi model and size not as portable

    This console gets a 5/5 from me reason being: (the short part) -bigger screens so everything is alot more visible -Bigger but still thin + pen/stylus still slots in the side -Access to the internet via Wifi so it dosen't cost a thing! -front and back facing cameras complete with photo editing software! -SD card slot for pictures to be stored onto edited or not -volume controls are buttons no longer a slider for reliability -power button under directional controls so no more accidentally turning it off whilst playing (phew thanks nintendo!) (the longer part) The dsi xl is a great idea for ... more

    Advantages Advantages Large screen, chunky pen, camera, networking features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Colours available, portability

    I bought this system when it first came out as I have previously owned the Nintendo DS and wanted an upgrade and was delighted with this product. I think that the larger screen size really makes a difference to game play and makes the system more user friendly. The larger size means that I can play the system with friends without having to pass it around which is great. The speakers are good quality and the screen is bright which makes playing the games easier. The only problem is that it doesn't fit as well into my handbag and that it is not available in such a wide range of colours as the ... more

    The Nintendo DSi XL is simply an amazing product from Nintendo! I had a Nintendo DS Lite that I bought back in 2007 and sadly it died out on me. It was time for an upgrade so I went straight to the Nintendo DSi XL. What an upgrade it was. The Nintendo DSi XL is the 4th of the Nintendo DS Series and is certainly superior in my opinion. As soon as you flip open the Nintendo DSi XL, you are dazzled at how massive the screens are. I had no idea it would be THAT big! I mean, I've seen the reviews, videos and pictures of the Nintendo DSi XL, but I wasn't expecting it to be that big! I had compared ... more
