Advantages Advantages Vast range of games, excellent quality of games and sound.

Disadvantages Disadvantages No backlight and low volume through speaker.

I thought it was about time I put my newly acquired gadget down and write an op on it! So here are my views on the great little device from Nintendo: ~Memory Lane~ During the last decade many large gaming companies such as Sega, Atari and Neo Geo have contributed their feeble attempts to the market, failing miserably in one way or the other. The Atari Lynx was the successor many years ago, but faded away due to it’s small range of games and low battery life. The Sega Game Gear was to follow, with it’s vast range of titles, but soon died a slow death over the years, due to it’s poor “Master ... more

    Advantages Advantages Lots of fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can get a big obsessive

I was 17 in March, and I'm indesicive to say the least, so I always get completely random birthday presents to save the hassle of actually asking me! From my parents I got lots of lovely clothes and jewelery, driving lessons, quality digital camera and money. Friends got me an assortment of smellies and other girly stuff. My brother got me a battery charger and lastly, my boyfriend got me trainers. And a Gameboy Advance SP. A Gameboy might seem like a strange present to get a 17 year old female, but I'm hooked on champ manager and play gamecube almost obsessively, so it made sense in a way ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages The screen can be difficult to see

What is it? ----------- The Gameboy Advance is the latest handheld games console from Nintendo. It is available in blue, white, clear blue and clear pink. I bought the clear blue console and it is apparantly the most popular. Unlike the Gameboy which was longer in height than width, the Gameboy Advance sits much more comfortably in the hands as it is much longer in width. The console is very uncluttered, on the right hand side you have the round A + B buttons, on the left hand side is the up-down-left-right button and 2 smaller round Start and Select buttons. On the top of the console ... more

Advantages Advantages The power of the SNES in the plam of your hand.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Screen needs a backlight.

The Gameboy has always been a success for Nintendo. They have relied on it in their darkest hours and it hasn’t let them down yet. Not so long ago the Playstation One couldn’t be dislodged from its dominant position at the top of the console market and the critics said that Nintendo had nothing left in the tank, they thought that Sony had won. How wrong they were, while the N64 went down like a fart in a lift the morning after a curry the Gameboy continued to sell in its millions. There is one dreaded word that tells everyone why they continued to sell: Pokemon. The success of Pokemon took ... more

Is this the SNES reincarnated in a portable and super slick new shell? Can the newest incarnation of the Game Boy stand up and fight of all that stands before it? Can the games compete against the newest in the ’next generation’ consoles? Well anyhoo meet the newest Nintendo creation…The Game Boy Advance. The hype surrounding the release of the latest in hand held technology suggested this would be a huge success. But can it out do it predecessor all 4, or however many there are of them? Over 120 million of the original Game boys, (including GB pocket, colour and all them!) ... more

~Quick Fix~ I knew I should have got money for Christmas. I just knew it, but oh no, Matthew's show off side had to go and want a Game Boy Advance now didn't he? I mean, what is the festive season without having to make your overworked parents slip some more money into the big company directors pockets for a load of cack? I'll tell you what; boring. ~His Story~ The Gameboy is, most probably, the most successful and well-known hand held console ever to grace the shelves at our local toys 'r' us. Released sometime in the late 80's, it shot to huge commercial success ahead of fierce competition ... more

Advantages Advantages Great for games on the go

Disadvantages Disadvantages Watch for the buses.

I got mine on the day of release. Clear blue, compact and light. First impressions were maybe a little dissapointing. It REALLY is light, even with batteries and game in, and feels a little more flimsy that the old GB. The battery compartment in particular feels likely to break. I guess time will show how sturdy these things are. I've also been told the screen is prone to scratching, but if you take care of it you should be OK. On the subject of the screen, it IS dark. You'll notice this when playing games such as Tony Hawks, or Castlevania, and you'll maybe start off by squinting at the thing ... more

Wow, what a little beauty the Gameboy advance is. Everything about it staggers belief, especially when one thinks back a few years to the old handheld snoopy & pacman games! Available in numerous colours and designed so that young and old can play it (referring to the layout of the controls and range of games available) the GBA is sure to be in the top 3 of most wanted xmas pressies this year. There is the same old directional cross control pad, 2 side buttons & 2 shoulder buttons. A 3.5*2.5 (approx) inch screen is wider than the old gameboy one Its on offer for about £90 though most ... more

Advantages Advantages Portable is the word, small, compact, and lightweight!, Good brand name, durable build quality, good selection of games.,

Disadvantages Disadvantages Reflectivness of screen is a hinderince., Expensive, well compared to its rivals. If its little brother count!

First off I would just like to say this opinion is unpaid, but to be honest, I am not that bothered! I shall use Ciao for the community aspect alone, any payment will be a bonus. Afterall, it may be difficult to make anything when nearly all products are unpaid! First of all, a little bit of background information on the GBA. GBA = Gameboy (Side note: I may write to Microsoft, asking them to include “Gameboy” in to their dictionary, spelling mistake, I think not”) Advance. The name for Nintendo’s new handheld console. It is the 3rd, in fact 4th generation, in ... more

Advantages Advantages Great sound and graphics, long battery life

Disadvantages Disadvantages Screen can be hard to view, games are expensive and the screen can get dirty easily

I recently started a new job which pays weekly. I received my first paycheque 2wks ago. Did I save it? No. Did I invest it? No way! What did I do? I just had to run out straight away and buy a Gameboy Advance with two games from "Toys R Us" didn't I? It seemed the only sane thing to do when you receive a wad of cash for the first time (I'm a student, I suppose I could have spent it in the pub!) So I went on a mission to Toys 'R Us, friends in tow and browsed all the different packages. In the end I went for the Ultra package which contains a GBA, Mario Advance and F-Zero + a Travel Pack with ... more
