Leave Ninty alone- this rules!

Advantages: great graphics, lots of good games (already out and due to come out)
Disadvantages: not as powerful as other consoles

...all have the good old Nintendo goodness! Unlike Xbox, it doesn't just stick with mainly fighting or racing games, or like PS2 mostly fighting and sports, with a few adventure. With the Gamecube you get loads of adventure games, puzzle games, action, shoot-'em ups, sports and more, I will put more info on games in a section for games a bit further down. Console Design: I like the design of the console more than any of the other consoles out there. ...
...I like sticking to official Nintendo stuff as I find that they tend to last longer and usually look better. Memory Card: There are two ports on the console for memory cards, called Slot A and Slot B. It is pretty standard stuff with them; you can buy them with less memory for less money, or building up to a higher capacity for a bit more. I think the least capacity is 4Mb, and the highest I have come across is 64Mb, but I think I may have heard ...

Nintendo means Silver Heaven did you know that?

Advantages: Small, cheap, portable, discs are cute, powerful little blighter!
Disadvantages: Needs memory card, some games come in multiple discs instead of just one disc so I have to swap discs... I'm lazy!

Nintendo had it good, the best console, the most recognised mascot around the world and most of the games developers were at their disposal. However one really bad executive decision nearly destroyed them completely, and that was to pull the plug on a CD device add-on for their 16bit Super Nintendo console, and sticking with memory cartridges to play it's games. Well, Sony who were developing the CD device decided that they weren't losing money because ...
...off, from the failed Super Nintendo Optical Cartridge Drive to the 64bit Nintendo 64 console, the "Don't be CD slow, but be cartridge quick" slogan never really sunk in with buyers as all the software developers were flocking to the Sony Playstation for it's higher capacity 650MB CDs. Cartridges were much faster than CDs make no mistake, but each cartridge could only store 128MB maximum so didn't include many movie clips nor speech, and at the time ...

The GameCube - Nintendo At Their Finest

Advantages: The best games, Loads of power, Great potential
Disadvantages: No DVD player, No hard drive.. erm..

THE NINTENDO GAMECUBE If you’re reading this, it probably means you’re looking to buy a new console. Well, the Nintendo GameCube, my favourite console, would be a brilliant choice. And the reason being? Well, that’s what I’m going to try to explain throughout this topic. In brief, the GameCube has a fantastic selection of exclusive, semi-exclusive and multi-format games available and planned, including Nintendo’s classics. Combine that with a powerful ...
...‘Metroid Prime’). However, even Nintendo can’t single handedly support the GameCube, and without some good second and third parties, then things would start looking rather miserable for the ‘Cube. Luckily, many companies have confirmed exclusive GameCube games and franchises. CAPCOM have promised six exclusive ‘Resident Evil’ titles, plus one-offs such as ‘Project Devil’ (a ‘Devil May Cry’ style game) and NAMCO have started work on a futuristic ...

GameCube-A dream realised or Nintendo's Dreamcast

Advantages: Small, portable, 4 players, GBA connectivity, cheap
Disadvantages: No DVD player, bad online range, too many ports

...discs of 8cm diameter. When Nintendo were asked why they did not include a DVD player, the said it was because most homes now own a DVD player or a DVD-ROM computer. The lack of a DVD player gave them the chance to focus more on the games side of things. But couldn’t they have made some sort of accessory. Panasonic and Nintendo teamed up and created an altered GameCube, which did have DVD capability. The only problem is this piece of hardware ...
...available- Phantasy Star Online Ep1&2. Nintendo also refuses to let people know which games are going to be online or not (rumour has it Mario Kart: Double Dash will be compatible). Online gaming with Nintendo has never seemed to be officially launched yet, but it was originally introduced before the X-BOX LIVE was. Connecting has also been a problem for people, all sorts of incompatibility problems and connection errors, having not experienced it ...

The little box with failed potential

Advantages: Amazing power for a little box. Some good games
Disadvantages: Doesn't have all types of games, no DVD, mainly for younger children

...to jeopardise their security. So Nintendo took it upon themselves to create the gamecube’s first games which would not be available to other consoles. This helped define the genre of the gamecube and also gave reason for specific people to buy it. The games that Nintendo released were Mario Sunshine and Super Smash Brothers Melee. As you may have feared these were targeted perhaps at younger children, however, the gamecube showed its power for great ...
...decrease and the budget of Nintendo meant that gamecube missed out on some amazing titles. These included the grand theft auto series, the grand turismo series, and the Hitman series. These are just a few of the games that appeal to so many yet gamecube does not have. Because of this gamecube just can not live up to the Playstation 2 because it just does not have the licenses required to have the gamers crave. Another major flaw with the gamecube ...

Tiny But Powerfull

...get my hands on a Nintendo Gamecube, I was stood in electronics boutique tore between buying a X-box or Gamecube. But I made the decision and it was the right one aswell….. The Gamecube is the latest games machine from Nintendo, due to the N64’s(supposed)poor performance not many people have much faith in the Gamecube, however it is one of those things which you either love or you hate(like Marmite). The Gamecube is a small box shape which comes ...
...to buy one, however(surprise surprise) Nintendo have bought out a special sound system specially for the Gamecube, I cannot tell you anything about this sound system though as I do not own it or no of anyone who does. The cables which you use to connect the Gamecube to the TV are scart cables(at least that’s what you get in the box),so you need to make sure that your TV is compatible with scart cables. If your TV is not compatible you need to make ...

Not bad value, but......

Advantages: Fits nicely on top of my PS2, Games last ages, legendary game characters (Super Mario, Zelda, etc)
Disadvantages: Nearly everyone's quit stocking games for it

When the Gamecube first came out, I didn't really think much of it..... with that Purple colour that was getting most the limelight not even being an Ultra cool iMac style see through plastic kind, which I reckon makes it now look a bit prematurely dated compared even the other colours it's available in (like black, for instance... which apparently was also available when launched, but the Purple one seemed to get pictured more). And then there ...
...using this medium, which works well...... but unlike it's Playstation2 & XBOX rivals doesn't have the added bonus of doubling up as a CD/DVD player (useful if buying a console for the kids bedroom, as saves having to buy those items seperately). Fast forward to the end of August 2005, and after rudely ignoring it for as long as possible, I eventually saw a Black version was available, and it looked much prettier the the purple one I was accustomed ...

Fun To The Power of 3 - One Year On

Advantages: Nice and compact | Powerful | Great games
Disadvantages: Delay in PAL games | Little Internet support

...From the start the Nintendo GameCube must have been doing something right. I am (or was) a die hard PC Gamer and consoles were of little interest for me. The launch of the PlayStation passed me by. The Dreamcast held no place in my heart, though now I’m quite sad at its passing because it was a good console but killed off by the mundane and mainstream PS. When the hype that was the PS2 came it seemed cold and heartless as well as overpriced and with ...
...until around August 2000 when Nintendo decided to show it off. I followed the news of it off and on until around September 2001 when it picked up and more talk of it was going around. Though not as powerful as the X-Box its power lies in the graphics and they are stunning (more on that later) and a strong line-up of third party support for games. The design itself is compact and sturdy what’s more the controller is also well designed and fits into ...

...discs, not cartridges. Previously, Nintendo have released the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), the SNES (SUPER Nintendo entertainment System, the classic Nintendo 64, and now the Gamecube. One thing about the Gamecube that makes it different to previous Nintendo consoles is that it was released onto a far more competitive market, where the Nintendo are not top. This market has been nicknamed the ‘console wars’. Along with the Playstation 2, and ...
...watching DVDS and the like. Nintendo have developed a compact, stylish console that concentrates less on looking flash and having bonus features and more on having original, innovative and real games; the traditional Nintendo way. Whilst this may seem like a good idea it does give other competitors the advantage over the ‘Cube, sadly. However, it does make the Gamecube have a very good price, £120. Nintendo have tried to crack down on pirate and ...

...the worst console. The Nintendo GameCube is surrounded by many misconceptions, and myths. They mostly come from Nintendo’s own reputation, and from comments made on Internet forums. I want to give an honest opinion, and try to dispel some of these myths that surround the Nintendo console. Of course, I’m not going to pretend everything is hunky-dory, as every console has its own good points and faults. • Nintendo’s Reputation • The GameCube tends ...

...Sega out of the picture Nintendo have a chance of competing with top notch Sony but with a console being released a year after the PS2 I think Nintendo have got their work cut out for them over the next few years. I need me a job

Advantages: great graphics, great games, character concept, cheaper than xbox or PS2
Disadvantages: everything could go horribly wrong in the next few months

...all cheerful and rosy for Nintendo since the release of their then next generation console the N64. Games were overpriced, the control pad made people run away in horror(although once people actually sat down and held it it was pretty darn good) and there were very few games worth the £40+ asking price. But your not here to talk about the N64 I hear you cry! Well, I'm just giving you a little background okay!? And initial reaction to the unvieling ...
...Okaaaaaay. It seemed Nintendo were aiming to cater for kiddies more than ever before. The few minutes of footage shown involved Pokemon, Pokemon and more Pokemon, plus thousands of little red suited plumbers climbing out of a box(A scary thought) plus a green clad plumber surrounded by ghosties. There was also some footage between Link and Ganondorf battling it out, but as one passer by commented 'what's that girl doing fighting that big bloke'. ...

Little Box of Tricks

Advantages: Small, Compact, Good Games, Lots of Support
Disadvantages: Awkward Conroller, No DVD capability

...have owned almost every console Nintendo have ever made, apart from the Original NES. One Thing thats for sure about Nintendo is that they most definately know there games & machines. Nintendo lost it for a little while with the N64, before its launch Sony had arrived with its all singing & dancing 32-bit PlayStation console while Nintendo was still reaping in the profits through its current SNES console. Nintendo launched the follow up to the SNES, ...
...expect from the company. Nintendo have seen their mistakes with the N64 and have virtually got everything right this time. Where other Nintendo systems use cartridges, the Gamecube uses Mini DVD style discs which cost less to produce whilst still being pretty quick at loading in a game. They are much faster than the loading times which I have seen on the Playstation II or X-Box anyway. The Graphics aren't quite as good as the X-Box, but they are ...

...could and was thrown aside. Nintendo knew they had to change with the times, the result? The Nintendo GameCube. Nintendo have actually stepped up from the CD's used by its competition, the GameCube uses DVD-size discs that can fit almost anywhere to store games on. Although this will mean you'll need to get memory card after memory card, it's no different to the competition, plus you get a memory free in this console pack to get you started. But ...
...to retrieve precious games. Sure, Nintendo could have given the console a snazzy opening mechanism to make it look better, but they have to think of practicality as well as style. Another nice feature that has been added is the interchangeable inlays on the top of the GameCube. Although the console doesn't come with any, it shouldn't be too to find them, and in some GameCube magazines you get them for free. Here are some GameCube tech specs for ...
