Advantages Advantages Well designed Pad, Get the Most out of the Virtual Console.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not Wireless, Overpriced.

You may be thinking hold up I thought the whole appeal of the Wii was it didn't have to use use a normal pad. Why on earth would I want to spend a £10-15 on old technology. Well the main reason reason is the Virtual console which allows you to download old games from N64, Snes, Nes, Mega Drive, Master system and the lesser known PC engine. Allot of these games require button setups that the Wiimote can not provide either because it does not have enough buttons or the layout of the buttons does not suit the old style game. So the Classic controller is a sort hybrid of all Nintendo's past ... more

Advantages Advantages Retro at its best

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

The Nintendo Wii has really taken the world of computer gaming by storm. In my opinion this is mainly the result of Nintendo looking at all aspects of gaming as we know it, and putting a completely different angle on it. The Nintendo Wii is not the first console to offer wireless controllers. However the way the user uses the controller and interacts with the games has pushed gaming in a new (albeit more physical) direction. But it does not stop there, Nintendo have looked at old console games (now called classic games) and have made them available to be downloaded onto the Wii (you need to be ... more

Advantages Advantages good design, makes virtual console games better

Disadvantages Disadvantages has to be connected to wii remote to be wireless

The nintendo wii classic controller is a different type of controller for the wii that doesn't use the motion sensing ability of the wii. This control is mainly designed for playing the old games (such as games from the nintendo 64) that can be brought from the wii shop. It can however be used with some new wii games if the game allows it. The design is nice and simple and is in line with the other designs of the wii and its accessories. It is completely white and has curved edges to the left and right. It has a diagonal d pad, as well as 2 analogue sticks, a home button as on the main wii ... more

    Advantages Advantages good design

    Disadvantages Disadvantages not really wireless

The Wii Classic controller allows you to step back in time and play games the old fashioned way. It does not use the motion sensing ability of the wii so no jiggling around is needed! Some of the new Wii games will specify on the back whether you can use the controller to play their game or not but many of the platform games available on the Wii shop need are suitable for the controller. Price and availability This controller is available from most gaming shops and online. I bought mine from Amazon.co.uk for around 12 pounds. Description The pad comes in white so it fits in with the colour ... more

Advantages Advantages Comfortable, Works with every Virtual Console Console, One type of controller needed for any VC game

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not wireless (plugs into a Wiimote), a little expensive

So, you've bought a Wii. First off, congratulations! No doubt by now, you've searched the Wii Shop Channel, and more specifically, the Virtual Console. You might have seen some games you want to download. Or you might have already downloaded some titles. But, depending on what console the game was originally released for, you might not be able to play the title without a Gamecube, or a Classic Controller. You cannot play SNES, N64 and some Mega Drive games without a Gamecube or Classic Controller. The Wiimote will suffice for NES and TurboGrafx games, but is of no use if you want to download ... more

Advantages Advantages well made, simple design, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not exactly a must have piece of wii kit

So you have just bought your new Nintendo Wii. You have frantically swung your shiney new wii remote like a tennis racket. But somehow this amazing peice of new gaming technology, with its slightly retro looking graphics will also make you realise just how far gaming has developed. Wii sports is a far cry from the original classics of super mario bros and donkey Kong. Luckily for us (and Nintendo's accountants) the wii also contains a virtual console, where you can download all the old nintendo and sega classics for a small(ish) fee. Although in order to fully enjoy all of these titles, with ... more

Advantages Advantages Virtual Console Games, Some Wii games Playable

Disadvantages Disadvantages None that i can think off

The Nintendo Wii Classic Controller game pad retails at most game Stores for around £14.99. The Controller Plugs into the wii Remote and is mainly used for Classic Virtual Games which can be Downloaded Via the wii shop Channel. The Nintendo Wii Classic Controller are Mainly used on the Virtual Console Games such as N64, Sega mega Drive, Nintendos Older Systems and a few Other systems. There are a few Virtual Games which will not work with the classic Controller but this is about five games and are mainly Commodore 64 Titles. The Controller can also be used on some Games such as The Legend of ... more

Advantages Advantages comfortable, great for lots of wii games, well designed

    Disadvantages Disadvantages not wireless

The Nintendo classic controller is a wii remote accessory which is attatched into the slot in which you place the nunchuk. However, unlike the nunchuk, it is used on it's own and not in conjunction with the wii remote. The design is similair to that of the playstation controller. It has two analog sticks, a set of directional buttons, four buttons at the front an four buttons at the back. The Nintendo classic controller is used for nearly all the games on the virtual console, because the controllers on the previous Nintendo consoles have followed a similair design. The Nintendo classic ... more

    Advantages Advantages wireless

Disadvantages Disadvantages uses up a lot of power

The classic controller has been made for playing select Wii games The controller is more or less perfect for playing these games, it fits in to your hand perfectly and uses the SNES button layout with 2 analogue sticks for playing N64 games the controller feels well made and has a very good d-pad. The controller plugs in to your Wiimote making it wireless. This controller connects to the wii mote in place of the nunchuck and therefore there are no wires leading back to the console. Over the years, Nintendo has innovated with controllers and control schemes that have become industry standards ... more

Advantages Advantages Means More games, cheapish

Disadvantages Disadvantages bad its needed at all. plugs into wii controller

As far as controllers go this is perfectly good. Two analog joysticks, easy to use, lots of buttons but doesn't confuse. It is a shame another controller is needed for the wii. This makes three, the main one, the numchuck, and the classic controller. So if buying a wii, and you want to play with your friends, you may be paying a fair bit extra for controllers. But it's worth it. I got two of these so I could play mario cart 64 with my brother, and the cheap online games you can download are great fun. Some don't need it, like sonic, but for others it is neccessary. To get the most out of your ... more
