Advantages Advantages Far better picture than standard composite, better looking games

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, Only needed for larger screens 32" or greater

After the release of the little white bundle of joy on the 8/12/2006 people were given a composite cable to show off their new shinny new console. AV enthusiasts all know a composite signal is the poor quality option for showing video on their TV's - what people really want is RGB or Component video input. As console manufactures are out to make a profit they usually bundle the cheapest and most compatible option with the console and then release upgrades to that product for people who need or want it. Nintendo understand this and have released two video upgrade options - the Wii RGB cable or ... more

Advantages Advantages Great for many tv's

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only for newer tv's

I think that his component to connect the wii to your tv is exactly what you need if you want the best kind of connection with the best resolution. The price is at less fair and very reasonable for what you are looking for. Many other companies may try to make something that may look the same but I will advise you that you should not let any one tell you that it is good or as close to the quality as the original nintendo will component video cables. This product looks and feels good. The responsiveness is high fast and great at leas. Robustness and the durability is great and last very long as ... more

Advantages Advantages Improve picture quality for most games

Disadvantages Disadvantages some glitch still exist

Cost: You can get it for £21.99 from Amazon. It is very expensive for the genuine article since those compatible cables are around £5 - £7 and some even less. Easy of installation??? I have a Sharp HD ready TV and I didn't look carefully at the connection port before I decided to buy one of this to improve the picture quality of my Wii. Hassle! Not every digital TV has the full five female sockets for all the five male RCA plugs of this cable (try not to be too technical here). My TV certainly hasn't got two phono sockets for the audio plugs. It has the YPbPr sockets (Y = turquoise colour ... more

    Advantages Advantages Excellent picture,resonable price,

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Only supports 480p,

Now I have too say thank goodness they brought this out for HDTV users, im sure they would be pritty left in the dark with the standard picture quality, I have tried out the standard video cable you get with the nintendo wii and belive me its not nice running it through your HDTV. The quality you get from this HD cable is excellent it brings out the vibrate colours that you just dont see in your standard cable, games for instance like zelda you really notice the difference and the background looks amazing. The only downfall about this new hd cable is that it only supports 480p which is ... more

Advantages Advantages sharper/brighter picture, opens up more ports on TV, saves hassle.

Disadvantages Disadvantages quite expensive for a simple console improvement

The Nintendo Wii component video cable really is a sound investment if you are the owner of an HD/ LCD TV, and obviously a nintendo Wii. Before i bought it, i had trouble with the picture quality and contrast on many of the games. Games such as Wii Sports were fine, but more of the action/adventure games such as Zelda or Splinter Cell give a very dark picture which can sometimes be hard to make out what was happening. The only way i could combat this problem was to adjust the contrast on my television which did help, but was alot of hassle. With the component cable, the picture is not only ... more

    Advantages Advantages better Picture quailty

Disadvantages Disadvantages unable to play the Wii Shop Games

The Wii Component Cable is a Cable which Delivers a 480P Picture. (The Wii is not a HD Console but the cable just offers a Higher Picture Quailty) The Cable retails from £19.99 - £29.99 and There is still a sortage as loads of people are after the cable. if you have a HDTV i would advise you to get as the Picture Quailty Improves very well. When useing the Component Cable the Picture is a lot more enhanced. The Cable will support all wii Games and you can see quite a Difference when using this cable compared to the standard cable. But if you see a game with EDTV/HDTV you know you will use the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Improves the visuals

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't benefit smaller TV screens

Takes the Wii to the limit of its visual capacity. OK, so the Wii doesn't have the *really* hi-def visuals you would get from a PS3 or X-Box 360, but be honest here, does anyone buy a Wii for the visual experience? Admit it, the Wii is so popular because the motion sensitive control set was not only a great way of targetting non-gamers but also a genuinely innovative attitude from Nintendo, which other manufacturers are finally learning: visuals are pretty, but gameplay is FAR more important [/rant off] The composite cable will upgrade the visual experience of using the Wii - but only to 480p ... more

Advantages Advantages The best picture quality you can get from your Wii.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages It's only 480p.

The Nintendo Wii Component Video Cable allows you to display your Wii games in 480p high definition if you have a HDTV. This is not as good as 720p, 1080i or 1080p that you can get on a PS3 or XBox 360 but it is the best picture quality you can get from your Wii and you will notice the improvement. The cable has 5 pins that plug in to the component inputs on your TV. OR, if you have your speaker system or stereo placed relatively close to your TV you could plug the red and white audio pins in to that instead for a better sound experience. Remember to change your system display settings to 480p ... more
