Advantages Advantages Small, innovative, unique, fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages average graphics, can be difficult to control

The console itself is brilliant, very stylish, and absolutely tiny! If you put 3 DVD boxes together, that's the size of the Wii, and unlike the XBox 360 it is also very quiet and very reasonable with loading times. The actual finish on the console is great, it's glossy but doesn't show up fingerprints extensively (ala PSP) and everything about it feels expensive and new, which is always a plus. It is really easy to set up, the only thing you'll need to think about is the sensor bar, a small black rod that needs to be placed on or below your TV, theoretically anyway, I've found you only need to ... more

Advantages Advantages Revolutionary, innovative and tremendously fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages If any, the remote can fly out of hand and break TV screen

I have been a console gamer for nearly 20 years. I have played on nearly every decent console that has existed, none of which has largely differentiated in terms of how you play the game. All have involved inserting a joypad into the computer and controlling the action on screen with the D-pad and a few buttons. You'd have thought it would probably always be this way... well think again. In 2006, the world was introduced to the most innovative, ingenius and incredible gaming system the world has seen - the Nintendo Wii. It had parents and avid gamers hitting the shops like a tidal wave to get ... more

Advantages Advantages Unique gameplay and control, Gets people moving.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of decent titles, Lacking in some features compared to other consoles.

I was one of the lucky few to secure myself a Wii on the initial UK release date. It's been well over a year now and the market seems to have settled somewhat. Chances are you could go out today and pick one up without having to wait for weeks. So, should you? Is it worth all the hype? Or is it just an overrated experience? A lot of people argue over whether the Wii is really next gen or not, compared to the likes of the Xbox 360 and the PS3 I think the majority would have to go with not. There is a noticeable lack of polish and refinement on the graphics compared to the 360 and PS3. No HD ... more

Lately, I've been flailing around in my living room like a lunatic in full view of all of my neighbours. I've been waking most mornings unable to straighten my arms which is surprisingly limiting - it makes no difference to my ability to wash my hair - but doing pretty much everything else has involved a groan or a grunt, reaffirming my rattle towards my next birthday, my 30th birthday. My most recent humiliation came at the hands of a 4 year old who appears to have been born a sporting genius. She (Yes she. A 4-year old GIRL) conspired to beat me at tennis. It was from 200 miles away, too ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun for all ages, interactive and makes you move around & do things.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some games are a bit hard to get the hang of, and it does monopolise the TV a bit.

We have been a bit late coming to the world of console gaming really, most people I know have had some sort of console for years now, but in our house we've always been pc gamers till recently. It was after playing on a Wii round at a relative's house that we decided we quite liked the idea. We'd always really thought of things like that as being more for kids than adults, but playing on some of the sport games and things gave us better insight into the whole concept, and so we bought one. The Wii we have is a white one, they do come in black, which does look kind of sleeker, but it's also ... more

Advantages Advantages Some great exclusive games that use the Wii-mote and other accessories for a unique experience.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Underpowered next to its main competitors and with weak versions of many cross platform games.

Nintendo have been at the forefront of computer gaming since the early 80s with arcade games such as Donkey Kong and a highly successful series of consoles including the NES, Game Boy and N64. They appeared to have dropped the ball a bit with their previous home console, the GameCube; despite having some excellent games, it saw them lose much of their market share to Microsoft's X-Box and Sony's Playstation 2. However, they've bounced back with two of the most successful machines of the current generation; the DS and the Wii, and this review will be considering the latter. Looking at the Wii's ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages getting hold of one

I have a large family and one problem is trying to keep them (and myself) entertained, school holidays can be a particular problem. Last Christmas I was so happy to have got a Nintendo Wii, it has added another entertainment opportunity for us all. When we opened the box I soon realised that this would not be too difficult to get it working. It came complete with the main console, a controller called the Wii remote, another controller that is used in some games and attaches to the Wii remote through a cable, a small sensor that goes either above or below the television as well as all the leads ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages No hi-def support and Gamecube specs

:: HIstory:: Nintendo once ruled the videogaming world during the 8bit NES and 16bit SNES. Things soon changed when Sony came onto the scene with the Playstation and Nintendo found it hard to compete with Sony and Microsofts financial muscle. Nintendo continued success with its handheld machines such as the gameboy and finally the DS Lite. Nintendo knew the key to its future was not to compete in the videogames market by heavily investing in super processors and graphics cards - they just do not have the muscle that Sony and Microsoft have. Nintendo knew the key was with innovation. Revolution ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Games And Slim Design

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes A While To Get Use To The Controls

Ok this is the first time I have done a review on a games console, so feedback on how to improve would be great! I used to have a game cube and loved the kind of games you could get, I am more into to games like Shrek and Zelda than blood spilling games, so when I was unable to buy new games for the game cube I knew it was time I looked into getting a new games console. I looked at the Xbox and play station 3 but really was impressed with what I would get for my money but also the consoles are on the large side.. I know that you can get a play station 2 slim but they still take up a lot of ... more

I had been wanting a ninetdo wii since it had come out but knowing i wouldnt get one until my birthday (2 days ago) i had to wait all those months! I was constantly dropping hints and my mum and dad do purchase the wii but they inisisted that it would be a waste of money and felt that the graphics were rubbish!
