Advantages Advantages Cheap to run, well behaved, easy to park!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Don't expect much status...

I have been the proud owner of a second hand used Micra 1.0 (five door) for the past six months. It was regularly serviced by a main Nissan dealership by the previous owner. The exterior was in marvellous condition for its age, and even with little upkeep it is still is in excellent condition. Most who know me are more than aware of how much I love my car, I like nothing better than to go for a zoom down country roads in this car. Unlike most Micras mine is most comfortable when purring along at motorway speeds. I will go into the pros and cons of the Micra later on, initially lets get the ... more

Advantages Advantages Reliable, fairly cheap to run

Disadvantages Disadvantages Ugly, no fun to drive, heavy steering, expensive dealer servicing

This is my first review on Ciao, so to get into the swing of things I thought I would unburden myself about my Nissan Micra. I currently commute 50 miles per day, mainly on a dual carriageway and the M25. My mode of transport for this daily delight is a Micra 1 litre Persuasion “special edition”, although I have never worked out how it differs from a normal Equation model except for the badge on the boot, or what is supposed to be special about it. My wife and I bought the car for her 5 years ago when she was commuting 6 miles a day through town traffic and for that purpose it was ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap to run, easy to drive, cheap to buy.

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's a basic brum, the steering becomes heavy when the car is full and older cars will develop fau

I bought my 1992 Nissan Micra 18 months ago because I'd been driving a newer, more expensive car that I could no longer afford because insurance and petrol costs were just too high. I needed a basic, reliable and cheap car on a very modest budget of £600, so I logged onto Autotrader and started looking at cars… I decided that a Nisan Micra would probably suit me, because I’d read that they never break and that they are cheap to run. So I arranged to see six different Micras that were all different ages, with different mileages recorded on the clock. The cars really did vary in condition - one ... more

Advantages Advantages Cost, Reliability, small car performance, CVT Automatic Transmisson

Disadvantages Disadvantages Higher running cost than Manual Tansmission Model

I bought a second hand used Micra 1.0 two door/hatch saloon at the beginning of 2003. Colour Red , on a ‘P’ plate, with 34,000 miles on the clock; well looked after by its previous owners (2), and regularly serviced by a main Nissan dealership. The bodywork was in super condition for its age with no visible signs of deterioration, such as rust marks. My Micra has a one litre (998cc) engine with CVT (automatic transmission) rather than the more popular traditional manual gear box, which makes it stand out from the crowd. I’m not too technically minded but having owed several cars over the years ... more

Advantages Advantages Reliable, Cheap to run and insure

Disadvantages Disadvantages None in my opinion

I’m not sure where to start this review so i’ll start at the beginning. It’s july 2000 and i need a car, the loan is sorted (with the co-operative bank) and I’ve spent the last two afternoons walking round car lots in ipswich and i’m getting nowhere fast. Lex autosales (no longer selling cars) are next on the list of places to visit. on the forecourt is a plethora of shiny things in a rainbow assortment of colours but nothing in my price range, as i get ready to leave a salesman chasing his commission no doubt asked if he could help. I told him i was interested in the micra but it was too much ... more

Well since its coming up for a year since I bought my K reg Micra I needed to update my review on her. She has done me proud in the 11 months since I bought her but it is coming up to the time when she will be going off the roads for the very last time (since she is certain to fail the MOT and a mechanic friend has estimated the work will cost over £400 to get her through it). So below is the original review the ****sections are my updates to it**** I have finally taken the plunge and replaced the poor Fiesta i wrote off in May, with a K reg 1litre, 5 door, Micra LX. I know the sum total of ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheaper on petrol, insurance and Road tax. Easier to park and get around town.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as much space as a larger car, lacking in safety and security features.

I thought it was about time I graced you all with a new opinion and what better way to start than with my brand new car, but my old love, the Nissan Micra. ~Why buy?~ Well, for me it isn't the first time I have owned a Micra I used to own one years back and quite honestly I missed my small car just a little. Having had a huge 6 seater for the last year or so going back to a small car was going to be a little hard so I decided to go back to something I knew and of course a company I trusted so the Micra was an obvious choice for me. ~The Exterior~ The shape of the Micra has changed dramatically ... more

Advantages Advantages Great, cheap, reliable car

Disadvantages Disadvantages Got a bit of a whack with the ugly stick

I feel sorry for my little car sometimes, I really do. I don’t give her any love, care or attention. She sits, alone in the garage used, abused, battered and bruised and yet she still keeps on trying her best in the hope that one day I’ll return that love. I haven’t cleaned the inside since January; the dashboard is grey and doesn’t show up the muck. I haven’t cleaned the outside since November, the paintwork’s still good and she hardly looks dirty. Just when the windscreen gets to the point where it’s to grubby to see out of, we get rain and I think ... more

Advantages Advantages Japanese reliability. Cheap to insure and run. Easy to drive and park. A good "first car" for a young person.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Somewhat staid image. Not too nippy.

~ ~ This little car comes in for quite a bit of stick from various sources for being both staid and dated, but Nissan can afford to laugh all the way to the bank, as it has been a best seller for them in all its various guises and models for more years than I care to remember. One of the main reasons I believe this to be the case is that Nissan as a manufacturer are never content to sit on their laurels, and constantly strive (in common with all the Japanese car manufacturers) to improve their cars. ~ ~ The most recent version of this very popular little hatchback sees it getting a fairly ... more

Advantages Advantages A great car, responsive and cute ;)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Has a rep for being an "old womans car.." :(

An Intro To The Micra +++++++++++++++++++++ First off, let me explain a little bit about myself. I am a 21 year old male. When I bought my Micra, I was 20, and I chose it over a variety of others, including the Saxo by Citreon, and the Ka by Ford. Being as I had only been driving for a short time, I wanted a low powered car but not at the sacrafice of what I considerd to be style, and when I met my Micra I was instantly attracted to it. I'm not sure what it was that made me want the Micra. Perhaps it was the headlamps (or the eyes, as I call them). Maybe it was the remote central locking ... more
