Advantages Advantages Spacious, less maintenance, road clearance

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hard to get good view in back mirror when reversing around corners

Introduction I don't personally drive the Nissan Primera, my husband does! So this review is mainly written from a front seat passenger perspective! I have asked my husband several questions about the Nissan Primera and have tried to add some technical opinions and findings of the Nissan Primera. I brought the Nissan Primera (2006 registration, 1.8L, Manual, with 5 seats) from a used car show room called Glynn Hopkin Nissan in Leyton (London). Glynn Hopkin sells approved used cars and the branch in Leyton, specifically sells used Nissan Cars. The car was second hand and was brought in ... more

    Advantages Advantages It's a Nissan

Disadvantages Disadvantages I don't like the new styling much

~ ~ Now and again when I’m wearing my ‘journalist’ hat, I get to borrow a new car for a few days when I’m planning to write a review on it. I’d been waiting for quite a while to get my hands on the latest model Primera from Japanese car manufacturers Nissan, which was released here in Ireland in the early spring of this year. (2002) We’ve owned an earlier model 1.8-litre Primera as our family car for about the past three and a half years, and I also run a Nissan Bluebird Executive as my taxi, so it would be fair to say that I’m a big Nissan fan, as the ... more

Advantages Advantages Reliable, equipment, modern looks, fuel consumption

Disadvantages Disadvantages Gearchange, some interior trims badly fitted

The picture Ciao has supplied is of a Renault Modus but the review & picture I have supplied is of the Nissan Primera. In 1990 whilst I was working at a busy Nissan dealership they introduced the Nissan Primera to replace the old & aging Nissan Bluebird. Although the Primera was no stunning looking car it was light years ahead of its competitors in terms of build quality, construction, engineering & features. It was little surprise that Ford used the Primera as a 'bench mark' for their new Mondeo which was introduced a couple of years later. The original Primera was lovely to drive, smooth & ... more

Advantages Advantages Drivers Car gone high tech

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not for those who can't set up a video recorder

This will be not so much a full review as a first impression of the new Nissan Primeras. Having been a Nissan Primera driver for some years, latest being a 1.6 sri I was lucky enough to be invited to our local Dixons dealership for the launch of the new Primeras last month & more importantly this included an all expenses paid trip to Oulton Park Race Circuit to drive the new cars. So I will try to give an unbiased opinion which should not be too hard because the new Nissans are a total departure from your average box on wheels. Let's start with my first impressions on the launch night. Cue ... more

Advantages Advantages Very Comfortble , well equipped very roomy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor rear visibility, looks not to my taste

As I have been hiring cars over the past year I have had a lot of time to compare dfferent models in this sector. I have been driving the New Primera for two weeks now having previously driven a Mondeo and Honda Accord. Ill give a comparison at the end. Exteriror Styling To be honest the exterior styling isnt really to my taste. It looks kind of big and bulky and a little too much like a concept car. This is really a subjective thing though does have an impact on rear visibility. I was driving the base 1.8 model so no rear view camera and without it parking is tricky. The rear window is very ... more

Advantages Advantages Lovely Cabin, Good to Drive, Very Soft

Disadvantages Disadvantages Small Boot, Centre Console, Storage space

This review is for the Nissan Primera 1.8 S which was released in 2003 (this is the new radical shape). BTW I think Ciao have put the wrong photo up. This is a great car..... Driving 1. The car drives great, very smooth and lovely. Though I have to agree with some other loyal Nissan drivers that the older Primeras Nissans are much nicers to drive. But this is not a bad car, but not perfect like the olders Nissans - but still very good! 2. The clutch is very light, ideal if you are stuck in traffic. 3. Engine lovely and smooth and silky. It will be noisy when you start up from cold as engine is ... more

Advantages Advantages Large, but not cumbersome

Disadvantages Disadvantages No alarm, only single cd player!!!

My husband and I spent a while deciding on the car that would replace our more practical car (our other being a two seater sports). We each had our own pre-requisites, and were not prepared to back down, bearing in mind the number of very good, very reasonably priced cars on the market. As a female and as the main driver, my wish list included: 1. Must be easy to drive. No wierd gear positioning or awkward clutch. The steering wheel and seat needed to be easily adjusted, as I am 5ft 2 and my husband is 6ft 1. There needed to be good visibility all around the car, as our sports car has got ... more

Advantages Advantages Ultra reliable, Extremely thief proof, Very safe

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some people think it looks dull.

The Nissan Primera has, for far too long, been slated for its dull looks. Well, I think it's just sour grapes. Sure the Mondeo has a great chassis & goes round a track very fast. Big yawn, who cares. On the road I see Mondeos with their bonnets up, but not Nissan Primeras! The Primera is the sort of car that you can drive from Land's End to John-O-Groats and get out feeling relaxed. Everything works just as it should with only minor niggles which I'll touch on at the end. The thing about the niggles is that you have to think about them, they don't leap out & slap you in the face like some of ... more

Advantages Advantages More for your money

    Disadvantages Disadvantages front-end looks

Requirement - Large 5 door family sized car, must have the usual; safety, economy, affordability. Plus; good performance, as many toys as possible and a decent name. Guess which bits my wife wanted! I travel to work alone daily, 4 miles avg. 40 mph on a good day, half that on a bad one. Weekends - family travel (2 kids) - can be around 200 miles. Holidays - usually drive and ferry - 1000 miles plus. For me, it came down to 3 choices. A Ford Mondeo, a Skoda Octavia or a Nissan Primera. (I had a Vauxhall Astra at the time and didn't want to move to a Vectra). I am not going to rubbish the other ... more

    Advantages Advantages spacious family car

    Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive to repair

I bought this car for its spacious interior and the size of the boot as I have a disabled mother and I need to fit her wheelchair in and her shopping. I am so pleased with the overall performance of this car although it has the down fall of being expensive to repair. The car is very comfortable to drive and has enough space for my husband and children with room left over for my dogs. The car is reliable which is just as well as it is expensive to repair and somethings can only be dealt with at the nissan garage. This means travelling to the garage. I purchased the vehicle secondhand but would ... more
