Advantages: We now have a Micra Disadvantages: Not all branches appear to give the same level of service
...was still under guarantee with Nissan and the paper work for that was included in a nifty case supplied by the company. The case also held the finance papers, car manual and the codes that we might need in the future. On returning home we did still have a couple of questions. So I rang Graeme who, I have to say, returned my call swiftly. He answered all the questions to my satisfaction. This was a rather nice touch and not a case of “we’ve done the ... ...on numerous occasions. I can’t praise his professional conduct enough. He didn’t employ the aggressive selling technique that some use and which would have been wasted on me, as I would have just walked away and not bought the car. Rather, he stated the facts then allowed us to make up our own minds and in our own time without any pressure. He even stressed originally that if we didn’t like or want the car then that was no problem, despite the trek ...

Advantages: Close to my house (not no more) Disadvantages: Service, misinformation and attitude
I purchased a new Nissian Micra from Reg Vardy (Small Heath), Birmingham about 5 months ago. At the time we were treated like royalty, but this soon changed once I took delivery of the vehicle.
A few weeks after taking delivery of the car, the radio stopped working. I didn't think this was a major problem as it would be under its warranty. When I took the car in to Reg Vardy they took the radio out and told me it would take 2/3 days for a new replacement ... ...it would take 'till the end of the week and that I would not be getting a replacement radio, but my broken one was being repaired. Two weeks later, after several 'phone calls and broken promises I finally got my radio.
Another startling problem occurred a few weeks after this. We purchased a new car because it came with 12 months free insurance. The sales man told my wife and me that the only condition for not receiving this was if either of us ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: They cant be bothered
As all car dealers are, Nissan were my best friend until they got my name and signature on that piece of paper. They could not do enough for me while I was looking. I told them what I wanted, the model, the colour and the engine size. They brought several models down from other dealerships in the group until I found one I was happy with. They convince you what a great deal they are doing for you. Knocking 500 pounds off the price that it was up for. ... ...which they agreed to. When it was all signed and ready to pick up, They could not be bothered with me. They did not "have time" to get the tax and instead gave me a cheque and asked me to get it myself! The cheek! I should have told them to stick their car but I didnt. Since then they have been useless when returning for services. Very poor customer service. ...

Advantages: Nice, spacious showroom, friendly sales staff Disadvantages: Complete lack of after sales service.
...I took it to another Nissan Main Dealer who fixed it straight away. Please note that Benfield even managed to blame a guage that fluctuates between full and 1/4 full in three miles on the fact the car had 17" alloys!
The service/parts section is not much of a change from the showroom. They quoted a price on fitting something, and I was amazed to see the time charged for, and consequently the price, were well over what had been quoted for. Quite ... ...it down to quoting a Nissan book price, and actually wanting to provide a professional service. I can't disagree the parts were fitted brilliantly, but at a BIG premium to what I was expecting.
A final nail in the coffin of Benfield Motors is when I picked up the car I had less than half a gallon of petrol in the car. Good job I only live six miles away! And they never paid up on the free service they offered me!!! ...

...I bought a second hand Nissan Primera from a main dealer in a big glass fronted show room. I was told that the car was in excellent condition and I paid a top price for it thinking that I would be safe buying from a reputable dealer. How wrong can you be?
For a start they lost the service history of the car. It took 5 months of phoning every other week before a service history was produced. Secondly, they promised to fix some minor problems such ... ...whenever I took the car in to have it done the car would be returned to me with the work still outstanding.
Finally, and most severe of all the paint work started to fail. It turns out that the car had been resprayed twice and a cowboy job done both times. This fact alone probably stripped £800 - £1000 off the value of the car when I eventually sold it.
In short I feel conned. The customer service was abismal. I got sick of being confronted with ...

...does not look at the Nissan group as a whole, but Reg Vardy dealership in Leeds & the very incompetant fraudsters who seem to operate there.
Up till recently we owned a Nissan Micra N reg. As keen drivers we always have it serviced & repaired as neccessary. My rather naive belief was you get what you pay for & that Dealership garages should be no expception. I don't mind paying extra for a first class service. Ohh no!!

I eventually phoned him back & my final comments were to say they were committing fraud by creating false jobs, vandals re our lights & incompetant. His final comment was to deny this & say "Well it's your word against ...

Advantages: Quite a few dealers around, cheap servicing. Disadvantages: Hit or miss customer service, bland range of good cars.
...have had variable experience with Nissan dealers over the past 5 years. In 1996 I bought a 1994 Primera 1.6LX (see separate opinion) from Mark Kass in Waltham Cross, it was a great car let down by an unprofessional dealer and bitty problems that they didn’t sort out until legal action was threatened. ...Hopkins Colchester. We chose Nissan because we had a Nissan Sunny Coupe which had done 200000 miles and was still going strong, with hardly any rust. It came with extras such as cd changer, alloy wheels. During the sale, we were treated with respect, and shown all round the car on delivery. we did find the waiting around in the showroom somewhat annoying though one and half hours on one visit. The service I get from the manager is reasonably good but could have been better. The car does not come with power steering which I actually wanted. My nissan micra is an excellent little runner, it is definetly teh womens car, teh steering is soft, but youd think it was poer steering.
