Advantages: Moisturising, good value for money Disadvantages: A little bit greasy
...a free sample pot of Nivea Soft through the post this morning. I don't normally use moisturiser, but it just so happens that I have had a hideous cold for the past two weeks (not pleasant!) which has left my skin in a complete mess and is horribly dry and flaky (sexy I know!). So I welcomed this little pot of moisturiser as my skin is in real need of some life putting back into it.
Apparently Nivea Soft is - "a highly effective moisturising cream ... ...fresh moisture boost as Nivea Soft absorbs immediately into your skin and leaves it sensationally soft, supple, and invigorated". I tend to disagree slightly with this description, as I will explain below.
I opened the pot and there is a distinct smell to the moisturiser - it reminds me of sun cream! I'm not entirely sure I want to smell of sun cream in the middle of winter (technically it may still be autumn, but I feel like it's the depths of ...

...it’s not by Avon! It’s Nivea Soft Intensive Moisturising Crème (phew!) which is usually priced around £2.40 for the 75ml tube (it’s also available in a little jar) but I bought some last week from Asda for only £2.18 – so shop around!

What’s more, its effects must be visible because when I was having my hair dyed last week, my hairdresser asked what I had been using on my face, as my skin looked so much better. Yes, this cream can also be used on your face – unlike most hand creams – and I have problem skin here too. My cheeks are very dry and flaky, often becoming red and itchy ...

...and decided to try her Nivea soft, intensive moisturising cream that she uses on her body and not on her face.
The bottle costs about £1.99 for a 75ml bottle, but you can get it for more or less. The bottle was white with the blue Nivea sign, Nivea intensive moisturising cream written on the front.
I didn't rate the bottle, it was plastic and nothing special. There was no fancy design on it, no flowers and no effort put in, in that department.

My mum uses Nivea soft, intensive moisturising cream all the time and she loves it. Mum unlike me uses it for her body though and it can be used all over your skin. Did you also know that vitamin E helps to strengthen nails as well as being highly beneficial to the skin.
I would recommend this, my mum buys it at Tesco's, but you can buy it from almost anywhere. Like I said earlier the only downside is the smell which I don't like. Mum ...

Advantages: Refreshing, unique, nice smell Disadvantages: Hard to squeeze the remaining cream out
Nivea Soft Intensive Moisturising Cream is a product I will stick with, after trying lots of different hand creams that I didn't like. It comes in a 75ml tube which is good to fit into your hand bag and carry around with you all day, or a 200ml pot, good for using at home. The cream looks amazing when you open the pot product - bright white and fluffy looking like whipped cream. Looks almost good enough to eat (wouldn't recommend that though haha)!
... ...on hands, body AND face, therefore its multi-purpose so you don't need to buy lots of different types of creams, which is beneficial if you're going on holiday, for example. It's fresh, light and makes my skin nice and smooth. My hands never feel dry after I apply this, but I usually use it twice a day to ensure my skin stays moisturised throughout. It's not greasy at all and it absorbs quickly, but I tend to use a different, special cream for my ...

What can I say? Nivea have really struck gold with this product! I discovered it last week when my Mum, due to a dodgy sample of some cream, came out in nasty blotches of dry flaking skin and an equally nasty, but nicely co-ordinating (!), rash. As she refused to leave the house I, dutiful daughter that I am, nipped down to Tesco in search of something to soothe her pain.
---Packaging---
I chose this product due to the fact that it claimed to contain ... ...plain white background with the Nivea logo on it is not exactly what I’d call eye catching but this really is a case of letting the product speak for itself. It is available in a 75ml tube (priced at around £2.50) and a 150ml little pot (around £5). Had this been for myself, I would have plumped for the pot (I can’t stand the wastage you get with a tube) but instead I went for the cheaper option- the tube.
---Smell---
Never one to miss ...

...Vitamin E, and of course, Nivea Intensive Cream.
I am not completely loyal to Nivea. I love St.Ives as well, but probably about equally. Nivea is like spreading silk on my skin. It is a heavy and thick, very luxurious feeling cream (and it is how I think of a cream compared to a lotion-which I feel is lighter-). The scent is very subtle but floral like. There are no extracts from flowers for the scent listed, but it smells almost like water lily ... ...evenly no matter what amount is used. The best part is though, there are no white streaks left after I'm done rubbing it in. (Regular lotion users will understand this pet peeve)
Really the only downfall that doesn't make me a completely loyal user is the greasiness factor. It is very slight, and it isn't as bad as most, but there is always a light layer left that isn't lotion, but quite simply, grease.
Bottom line, if you want to keep you skin ...

...forget to leave home without Nivea Soft in my bag - it's an absolute essential.
Nivea has always been a firm favourite with me, because it's cheap and reliable. It's not fashionable, but for such low prices and great quality, does it really matter?
