The sun is out, the sky is blue, and the kids are loving the freedom of the garden after the long wet winter. But are they safe? "In the UK there are 65,000 cases of skin cancer each year, with 2,000 proving fatal, and numbers are said to be rising faster than for any other form of cancer. Part of the reason is thought to be due to our changing lifestyles, for example more people are sunbathing and taking more holidays in sunnier climates, increasing their exposure to harmful UV rays." Quote from the BUPA web site. The sun gives off two harmful rays. The first is UVA, which causes skin ageing ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to apply, smells, nice, high level of protection

Disadvantages Disadvantages Have to be careful not to get it on your clothes.

It was so nice to be able to take my daughter to the beach with the arrival of the first of the summer sun. As my daughter is still only 18 months and has very fair skin I am a somewhat paranoid mum and could not stand the thought of my daughter having burnt skin. Last year I chose a Nivea sunblock for her and basically kept her out of the direct sun. She started walking some six months ago, and loves to run out in the garden. It’s going to be impossible to keep her out of the sun all the time, and rather mean too! I want her to enjoy the sun, but safely. I’ve been doing a little research on ... more

The summer is upon us, not that you’d believe me looking out of my window right now, but we’ve been promised a hot summer and so it’s important for us to be protected. I have two small children and my little boy in particular has sensitive skin than is pone to catching the sun, naturally it is important to give them the best protection possible to avoid sunburn or anything else nasty. Nivea children’s sun spray is designed to protect against harmful UVA and UVB rays. UVA/UVB UVB rays harm the skin's surface and are the primary cause of sunburn more penetrating UVA rays damage collagen and ... more

As well as producing beauty products, Nivea also produce a range of suncare products. *Product* Here we have Nivea Sun Children's Sun Spray. This a coloured spray and is a very high factor 50+. This provides immediate protection from the sun for your child. It has a UVA/UVB protection system. It is resistant to water. The spray contains vitamin E to protect children's skin from long term sun damage. *Packaging* This sun spray comes in a chunky little blue bottle which has curved in edges for your fingers to comfortably hold it. The lid is a plastic yellow and covers the thick sprayer. The ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages water resistant, coloured initially, easy grip bottle, smells nice, works well, easy to apply

Disadvantages Disadvantages runs out fast, slightly too runny, stains white clothing

This product is specifically designed for children, it provides a very high level of protection against UVA and UVB rays (factor 40), claims to be extra water resistant and suitable for children's delicate skin as well as being coloured so that you can see where it has been applied (to avoid missing bits!). All of the above reasons made this sun spray seem like an ideal one to use on my little brother on our holiday. Nivea is a brand that I have always used and never had a problem with, so when I saw that tescos were selling two 200ml spray bottles for just £10, I brought this factor 40 kids ... more

    Advantages Advantages its nivea

Disadvantages Disadvantages not the best protection

Nivea children Sun Spray it seems that we go through Sun Cream like there is no tomorrow as seeing as it is so expensive I have started to share my own high factor with Jack and himself. This Bottle of Nivea Children's Sun Spray however was the last bottle I purchased solely for Jack. The reason that I wouldn't use this particular sun spray is because it has a green colouring in it which would make you think that children love to use it and can't wait to have it sprayed onto their skin! Wrong. Jack literally has to be pinned down to get him to put any sun cream on and it was probably the case ... more

Advantages Advantages Children won't moan when applying - its green

    Disadvantages Disadvantages quite costly

My little one is a sun lover, he will spend hours outside if he could. Of course as a mum you worry constantly so i needed a good sun protection. However as my son is 2 he wasn't having any of it until i found the 'hulk spray' as he calls it, now we can apply as needed and we are both happy. This spray has SPF 30 and UVA protection 3(out of four), both very good although for very young children i'd use a higher factor. The packaging is really well thought out, it is a spray with a pump, the sides are contoured to fit the fingers, very good for when you have slippery and sandy hands. And more ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent sun protection and the kids love it!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite costly

Everyone wants to protect their children in the sun, so the market for sun creams are huge! Just looking on the shelf in Tesco last week made me dizzy with all the choices there were! But I decided to stay with the tried and tested cream I used last year... Nivea Sun Childrens Sun Spray! Now, what made me choose this in the first place last year? Initially, the colourful and appealing bottle draw my attention! I knew that when applying cream to the kids I needed to be able to get the lotion out without much fuss; the grooves in the bottle and the easy to use pump action appeared to make that ... more

Advantages Advantages Kids don't scream at the sight of the bottle!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't come out of your clothes very well.

Well firstly I've got to say that this is the best sun cream I've tried on my 2 children and I've tried quite a few. We pick quite exotic places to go with the Maldives and Cuba being the lastest and with young babies it was necessary to have the best!! On both of these holidays I took only the one bottle with other brands as back up for when they ran out - big mistake!! I just wish I'd taken enough of the Nivea to last the whole holiday. In cuba for the 1st week of our holiday both my 3 and 1 year old managed to enjoy the pool and surrounding areas in full sun for a good 4-5 hours without ... more

4 Stars Quick review of Nivea Sun Childrens Sun Spray by ppointer 17/08/2008
I purchased the Childrens Sun Spray due to the high factor of 30 and of the colour of the spray for my boy. I began using it for myself and I can swear by it, no sunburn and my boy is the same. Remember to keep applying the lotion. Please look for deals on the lotion, as I find Boots always offer buy 1 get 1 free for the lotion.
