...our lead character stage left. Nivea for Men Aftershave Balm is an absolute joy, and a definitive must in my toiletry shopping. I've tried many substitutes over the years, all with varying degrees of success, but this is far and away the best
It comes in two different types, normal and sensitive, the latter of which is going to be my focus here. So what is this great product? Well, quite simply it's a balm that you slap on your face after shaving. ... ...smell or perfume - what Nivea describe as "fragrance neutral." This is a major plus point for me, as it means I don't end up smelling like talcum powder or some really harsh cream throughout the day. I normally spray a bit of eau de toilette on afterwards, and I only need a bit as there is no smell to mask
The balm sinks into your face really quickly. After a quick slap on and a couple of seconds of rubbing it around your face, you'll barely know ...

...led to me plucking the Nivea product from the shelves. Previously my skin and moisturisers have just not got on well, always leading to blotchy greasiness.
The sensitive balm was a revelation though. Alcohol free, camomile and vitamin enriched, and with a light, pleasant (what it claims is neutral) fragrance, it really took all the post shaving irritation and inflammation away. It took a couple of days for my skin to get the hang of the stuff, but ... ...balm applied to the shaved area worked wonders. Cool to the touch, it felt soothing, and any redness was gone within 10 minutes. The faint fragance is light and fresh, and very bearable, and will not clash with aftershave (which is NOT applied to the shaven area...yeeeeouuuch). The only downside I have experienced, is that despite a 'non-greasy' claim, after a day of it on my face, I do feel dirty and greasy, and look forward to a post work shower. ...

...my face. Nivea for Men after shave balm does just this. It is available in its original version, as well as a version for sensitive skin which is my personal preference, although I have tried both. I have tried a number of other aftershave balms and gels available on the domestic market, but I have to say that this is the most effective product I have found in combatting the unpleasant soreness and irritation from shaving. NIVEA For MEN After Shave Balm
Like most men I detest having to shave , as much as I hate having a stubbly face, but not as much as my wife's hatred of my bristles . So with the vote at 2 to 1 against stubble I resign my self to the painful task of shaving.

The balm comes in a white bottle with the Nivea emblem on it saying for men after-shave, under this is a small oblong sign saying sensitive balm.
On the back of the bottle ...

...where this great product from Nivea comes in. A "Fresh cooling balm" which is "menthol and vitamin enriched". The 100ml bottle is made of chunky glass which means its cool to the touch and feels sufficiently weighty to be taken seriously by blokes for what is after all a very femine sounding product (i.e. a balm). ...fan of the normal, old-fashioned Nivea Cream. Unfortunately it's just not really suitable for use as an aftershave balm. Advantages: Lasts a fair while, really does soothe irritable skin Disadvantages: Hard to gauge how much you have left!
Firstly, some background.
For years I have shaved with an electric shaver. My facial hair grows quickly and I am ALWAYS stubbly. It is a matter of constant annoyance to my girlfriend who prefers me to have a nice smooth face!
