A Mobile for Technophobics and Small Handbags!

Advantages: Small, light, compact, easy to use, flashlight
Disadvantages: Too fiddly for some and not for gadget lovers

...the box to my new Nokia 1100, much to the envy of some of my colleagues who still have older, larger phones which were issued to them two or three years ago. My first thought was how small, light and compact the phone appeared - brilliant as I've only a small handbag and even carrying that around gives me an annoying shoulder ache. How do men manage without handbags and why can't I? Why is womans workwear always designed with sewn up trouser and ...

...to find they were these nokia 1100's, and took the opportunity to find out more about these phones. They are very small phones, aprox 10cm by 4.5 cm and at their thickest point it's about 2cm thick, so ideal for blokes who carry their phones around in their pockets, although if you're female and anything like me, you'll keep thinking you've lost it because of how small and slimline the phone is! They also only weigh aprox 86g. As with most Nokias, ...

Distribution lists are also another great feature, as they enable you to sent texts to a fixed group of recipients, such as workmates or drinking buddies. The phone has the capacity for 6 lists, each storing up to 10 numbers. This phone only comes with 2 games as standard, snake II and space impact. This phone is a very basic model, with monophonic ring tones and no colour screen, although picture messages ...

...first mobile phone was a Nokia 3330 it was good, it had a great battery. However it was a brick and I quickly came to hate it. So I bought a second hand Nokia 8210 wich was tine and a fair battery, however like most 8210's the screen went bye-bye. So I used my fathers old Nokia 6210 for some time, it was amazing, however I sadly had to give it back when he asked for it. So I started to hunt again for a mobile phone. These were my requirements: ...

I had probably been through every single shop in the country and all they offered where the same pathetic phones with cameras and color screens and everything else that you'll never ever use. So I started searching eBay and that is when I found my dream phone. It is only 106mm x 46mm x 20mm and weighs 86g. It is simply a phone and nothing else. It doesn't even have a color screen. It ...

...phones. This is my first Nokia phone i was always weary of this brand but the 1100 has changed my mind. Why? Well where do i start, It's lightweight and fits nicely in a handbag. Not as small as a lot of modern designs but convinent enough to fit nicely in phone pockets in bag easliy. But of course you cant just view a phone on its size. The buttons are easy to use not too close together and great for text messaging they are light on your fingers ...

The flashlight facility is so usefull. not the strongest of beam but you know those times when you loose your keys and you wish you had a torch. Ta da mr phone comes in very handy. Battery life !!! Nokia's "Sim-free" Phone

...next i upgraded to a Nokia 3310 and again was impressed by its quality, unfortunatly this phone was stood on by moi and so ceased to work anymore. i then decided i quite liked the look of the sony ericson T68i. i wont go into detail on this phone but the main function, calling and texting, worked only 50% of the time so after a lot of phone calls i managed to get my phone changed to a Nokia 3330 and again found it to be good quality quite hard wearing ...
...of which was the new Nokia so i decided i needed quality over quantity (so to speak) and purchansed the Nokia. After just 2 days of having this phone i was very impressed with it, it has a good battery life, a built in torch which has been very useful, pretty much all the features of a 3310 in a smaller nicer looking case. it feels nice in your hand and the keys are a nicer spongey feel than the clickey ones in the 3310. One of the differances ...

I bought this phone just before Christmas time, for £25 from the Orange shop with £5 of calling credit and, of course, an Orange Pay as you talk SIM card. It accepted my old Orange pay as you talk SIM from my previous phone without any problems, but I don't think it would accept cards from other operators. They obviously set out to design a basic phone that looks good, won't break the bank and works well. that's just what this is. It uses similar software to the phone that launched them into the phone market, the old 5110 all those years ago. Timeless, easy to use and robust. Why change something so good. Obviously this doesn't have a colour screen ...

I first got this phone a few years ago. After having a terrible record of losing my phones, i decided a cheap phone would be best. I bought it for £20 with £10 credit on it and ironically i seem to have taken better care of this than my others. The phone has quite a sleek shape and is not too bulky so fits nicely in your hand and pocket. It has a simple scroll function allowing you to move through the differerent categories. A handy thing about this ...

The buttons are big enough to be able to press easily enough and it is easy to turn on and off. The battery life is good and often i only have to charge it about once a week. It has the classic game of snake on it, something i missed greatly on my previous phones ...

Nokia 1100 Mobile Phone

Advantages: Simple to use, small size, low cost
Disadvantages: Limited expandability

The Nokia 1100 Mobile phone is a cheap and cheerful phone for the novice or occasional user. It is also a great introduction to the world of mobile phones. The phone comes packaged with just the phone and charger, as well as a well-written and easy-to-follow Nokia user guide. It is easy to setup - the phone just asks for the time and date, and as long as you have inserted your sim card prior to switching on, you are ready to go immediately. This ...
...in my opinion, highly addictive Nokia Snake II and Space Wars, as well as a rather entertaining composer. Ringtones are monophonic and are changeable, although new tones can only be added by having them texted to the phone. There is also a nifty little flashlight which can be used to help with reading at night or in poor lighting. The phone can handle call waiting and call divert, as well as call barring, but of course this depends on whether your ...

Nokia pays homage to the 3310

Advantages: Lightweight + simple to operate
Disadvantages: Antiquated technology not to everyone's taste

...first ever mobile was a Nokia 3310, and in those days (which cellphone historians might refer to as the era of the post-brick movement), it felt like you had a piece of cutting-edge technology burning a hole in your pocket, or in my case dragging my trousers round my thighs because the thing was so damned heavy... the latter being the reason I ultimately ditched it for a slim but capricious little Sony. Fast forward to 2004, and I have acquired ...

That of course is a slight exageration: there are definitely also technical improvements on the 1100. Apart from the size, the first thing that strikes you is the unusual design, both in the shape (others have desribed ...
