...buying her a phone. As Nokia is my choice of preference, I stepped confidently to a Nokia showroom to look for the model around. My budget for the phone was limited and so I have to restrict to a phone which is cheaper and got all the facilities to support the fuctions of my wife. I selected the cute looking Nokia 5300 Xpress Music. The phone comes in a variety of colours and I preferred the black to the red and white or the black and white. It is ... ...a FM Radio.
The Nokia 5300 XpressMusic supports a 2" QVGA TFT display resolution of 320X240 pixels in 262144 colours. The phone comes with a set of dedicated music keys using which you can easily play, pause or stop the music. Just press the keys at the sides of the phone and you get your desired action. I don't like sliding phones, but the appearance of the phone attracted me and I could not avoid buying it for my wife. When you hold it in your ...

Advantages: Stylish, Easy to use, Great graphics, music and picture quality Disadvantages: Not very durable
I have owned the Nokia 5300 for about 6 months now and I am currently on handset number 3.
I own the phone as part of a contract and so it was free. At the time it was retailing for £135, but has since come down in price considerably.
I was initially impressed with the graphics of the phone. This one was on the reasons for me choosing it, as it is far superior to its predecessor, the 5200.
It has a very smart look to it, with a slide effect at ... ...around the middle, and the Nokia label is printed discreetly on the right hand side.
The menu screen has a standard layout, where you can access things such as your mailbox or phonebook, as well as your photo galleries and call logs. There is also the option to rearrange these icons so that certain things are easier to get to, and the things you don't use so much can be put further down the list.
The memory of the phone is fantastic and cant be ...

Advantages: Funky casing, lovely display, lots of personalisation options Disadvantages: Camera sort of average, infrequently used features
...have owned two of these Nokia 5300s, both bought at their initial PAYG price of £129 on T-mobile. My first one was stolen while I was at work, stolen by a customer (nice). I had only had the phone about a month, but as I had refused the insurance I had to buy another full price one in January 2007.
I needed a new phone because my Dad needed one for work contacts so I agreed to give him my old one and I was to come off contract anyway.
I chose the ... ...one or a jazzy blue Nokia one. You can download themes on the internet though, of everything from pigs to girls in bikinis, to personalise your phone.
There are all the standard Nokia functions, and it would take too long to go through them all, especially the basics. Nokia does the basics as well as it has done before so contacts and messages and nicely organised.
There is a dedicated camera/video key on the side of the phone. The camera is average, ...

I enjoyed this phone as it works well and has lots of funcionality. My best phone yet! I have never used a phone which offered such a good price to features ration ever and I am glad thta I purchased this phone for the tiny price of £60, wh9ich in my mind was a complete bargain in reality to how much you could pay for a phone these days.
In conclusion, an excellent phone with all of the features you would ever need, 1.3 megapixel camera, great TFT ...

The staff member (I think he was about 12) was very helpful and told me that this phone could do all of those things, I asked about directly downloading from itunes and he assured me that I could, the only lie or misinformation that he told.

I got the Nokia 5300 as agift for christmas and fell in love with it instantly, everything from the design to the music player to the voice recorder is excellent. It is best known for being a music phone hence the name XpressMusic.

Durability: I have found that this phone is quite durable as I have dropped it many times and it has not broken cracked or even turned itself off. It is quite easy to scratch the screen though, but this can easily be fixed with scratch dissolver.
Music Player: You are able to convert music from your computer (using the USB leads included) or from somebody elses phone using bluetooth or infrared, ...

This phone has it all and for a good price too. Not only can you listen to mp3s through very good, if not a little chavy speakers, but you can access the web too. Orange do a great deal of unlimited web browsing for just £1 a day, and thats on pay as you go. Camera quality isnt great but you get much more in its place.
Only negative is that the speaker broke after about two months of me having it, this is probably due to my man handling of it though! ...

The Nokia 5300 _Xpress_Music is my current mobile phone and possibly the best phone I've ever bought. It's reliable, practical, and durable. Even though it has just a 1.3 mega pixel camera the quality of the photos is still very good, even when uploaded onto the computer with the included lead. The Nokia 5300 is one of Nokia's XpressMusic phones, a label meant to identify handsets that are particularly fit for use as a music player. But I enjoyed the Nokia 5300 much more as a phone than as a cell phone than as a music player, even though it's still a good music player: up to 2GB memory card, dedicated protruded music keys on the side, standard 2.5mm headset jack. It also offers a variety of music transfer features such as USB Mass Storage ... ...as much as with the Nokia N91 but it is a higher priced cell phone. I forgot to test Nokia's provided headset but according to other users comments, they are of a lower quality and should be replaced by better ones. At least, the 5300 supports A2DP Stereo Bluetooth headsets. All in all, I enjoyed using the Nokia 5300 as a cell phone. There are better music player phones out there but this one offers a great deal of features in a reasonably good music ...

I have had this phone for a few years now and when compared to newer or later version it seems a little bit out dated. I like it because it has a 2 megapixel camera, which takes rather nice pictures given the right lighting. I know everyone's opinion on this phone is the cheap price and the high-tech multi-function. But I guess I'm just not that impressed with the battery life and its sensitive respond to the weather.
