Advantages Advantages Excellent phone, good camera, excellent MP3 player, touch screen, etc etc!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only very few minor niggles such as fingerprints on screen

................................................................................................ Intro Back in May 2007 I wrote a review of my new phone, a Sony Ericsson P990i. If you are a Ciao member (if you’re not then skip this paragraph and the next) and sort my reviews in order of most read you’ll come across it, and also see that I was awarded a shiny diamond for it (I think mainly because it’s one of my most read reviews by the public). Bye Bye ‘Perfect’ P990i Ok, so the P990i wasn’t quite perfect in the end, although it was what I wanted at the time. However, the battery was somewhat ... more

5 Stars Nokia 5800 Pushes All The Right Buttons Review with images 29/03/2009
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Screen, music player, internet access, easy access to functions, lots more.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Um... it's so good I keep paying it too much attention

The last time I started a new phone contract I didn't really think about the phone I was getting and just kind of got one that looked kind of nice. Then I was a purely texting person, with the odd phone call. That after all is what a phone is about, right? Well it's what I thought. After finding some of the more useful features on my last phone, the Nokia E65, as well as cursing over things it couldn't do, I knew I was going to have to choose my phone more carefully. And then the iPhone was released and seemed to be everything I wanted... except for a nice price, so really it was out of the ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None so far

Last month saw me upgrading my phone as my contract was now at an end; I had searched many sites and decided on the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. Why Nokia 5800 over all the others I choose this model for a few reasons, I like the fact it had a huge memory, it is touch screen and to be honest I think it looks the part too. Given the fact it was a Nokia too I thought I really can’t go wrong. In my opinion they are a huge contender in the mobile phone market. I also think it’s very similar to the IPhone but for a much better deal. Cost and Availability I got mines on contract, now my contract is with ... more

Advantages Advantages GPS free, Wi-Fi, Free apps, practical, price going down

Disadvantages Disadvantages Get stuck at times, fingerprints all over it in less than 2 days

After so many months since I bought this mobile I finally decided to write a review about it. This Nokia 5800, in a few words, is easily one of the best mobile phones made by Nokia. I was not surprised to find it 3rd in the list of "Best Mobile Phones". I've been a Nokia customer for years, my last Nokia mobile phone lasted as long as 8 years in full working order (see my review on the ancient Nokia 7110) and only lately it started to give some twitches. I decided it was time to change it when people started to laugh about my phone when I pulled it out... kinda sad I know. Wanting to stick to ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages -

I have never been someone that bothered in having the most up to date phone but as of late it seemed that everyone around me had a fancy phone gadget and I still had my basic one. I had a nice phone but it got stolen a few months ago so I was a bit weary to pay a lot for a phone. However, I did buy a simple phone after this incident but I was paying £15 a month and didn't even have free texts or minutes so thought on contract I might get more value for money. I went into my o2 shop and had a look at current models, once I found a model I wanted I started looking at prices, I didn't really want ... more

5 Stars The phone from The Dark Knight Review with images 25/11/2008
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages great sensibility, wide variety of functions, good recording quality, superb sound

    Disadvantages Disadvantages the price

Among phones, and especially, PDAs, appears a new trend in matter of design. Many more brands, Nokia being one of them, produces phones more and more "sensible" to touch. The number of buttons is minimized as much as possible, and their place is replaced by bigger and bigger TFT touch screens. Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is another proof that men don't want just a phone but a technological jewel. The menus with very suggestive icons are also found in this phone. This version operates on Symbian, 9.4 version. The "others" prefer Windows Mobile. The data transfer is a part of standard settings. It ... more

Advantages Advantages Use of apps, good battery life, attractive handset

Disadvantages Disadvantages Apps expensive, battery life deteriorates

I got my Nokia 5800 almost a year ago as part of an 18 month contract. I had originally intended to get an i-phone, however the 5800 at the time seemed more appealing. The phone itself is very lightweight, and is of a reasonable size to fit in your pocket etc. Personally i'd prefer it to be a little less chunky, however i have managed just fine with it. The handset comes with a stylus that slots into the side of the casing, which is good for internet browsing etc since it has more precision on the touch screen than using your thumb/fingers. It does however become loose after a while, and i ... more

Advantages Advantages easy to use, clear screen, great for music

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Bad camera

I got this phone for my partner as a valentines gift last year, as it was something he really wanted, and even though I don't personally like the way the phone looks, it is a pretty impressive phone. I like the touch screen element, as its something I have got so used to that buttons on a phone now confuse me, and the nifty little pocket in the side of the phone for storing the stylus is awesome, although not as secure as you would first think. My partner lost his first one out of the phone within a few weeks, luckily orange supply a spare in the box, although I don't know if this is the same ... more

4 Stars The iphone's competition, Nokia 5800!! Review with images 25/06/2009
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Full bluetooth, great sound, wifi, 8 gig storage (expandable) Touch Screen and great screen size.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Touch screen responsiveness is a bit tedious.

Please bear in mind that this review is my own personal opinion. I have owned the Apple Iphone 3G 8 gig version and also the Nokia 5800. The nokia 5800 is Nokia's first venture into the touch screen world and they have released it as the dangerous opponent to the Iphone. Both phones are great in their own separate ways, Personally I still think the iphone has got the leading edge. The touch screen responsiveness of the nokia 5800 is nowhere near as greatly sensitive as the iphone. Often needing to put a little bit more pressure on the somewhat flimsy screen of the Nokia 5800. The Iphone screen ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Looks deceptively flimsy

I bought a Nokia 5800 back in October, as i thought it was about time i had a phone that wasn't actually a pay as you go one for a change. This meant getting a contract phone, and this phone was an option so went for it essentially on impulse. I ordered it online from Vodafone, and following 10 working days i received the phone. I was initially rather shocked as i was expecting to find something very sleek and metallic, but was instead greeted with a plastic lump which felt lightweight and cheap, on the plus side it did have an attractive blue stripe around the edge, although i know it's also ... more
