...has both bluetooth and infrared Nokia supply a data cable which is ideal for transfering large files such as video and music. Synchronisation works well and software is available for converting files. (Nokia have some tools on their web site but I use something called "Super" which is quirky but does a good job).
The 6280 boasts 3G and GPRS but, as with all internet over mobiles that I've seen, it doesn't strike me as broadband on the move! The ...

...Sharp, Sony Erricson, Samsung and Nokia and found the Nokia holds battery life longer, gets a stronger signal in our area and the calls are clearer. My only requirements were for a camera and for a free phone as up to date as possible (I knew 18 months is a long time by mobile standards), this phone ticked these boxes.
It is a slide style, the front panel slides up a couple of inches to reveal the keypad, although many features can be used without ...

The Phone
Having waited patiently for my phone, it arrived; I had not even seen the phone so had no idea what I was getting. I opened the package and was surprised to see this was a sliding mechanism phone; very similar to the popular Samsung models of 2004. Everything with this phone was a surprise because I had no idea of the features of the phone. The phone itself is about one inch ...

...a big difference from a Nokia 5140i which I have had in the past, where you need to push the keys really hard, but the 6280 is much better in this respect. The markings on the keys of my 5140i started to come off after a few months as well, but the keypad on this still looks as good as new after about 5 months.
The Screen:
This phone has a massive screen (320x240 pixels, 2.3 inches) which means that it can fit loads of lines of text on at once, ...

The phone comes with all the cables and software you will need to connect the phone to any computer with a USB port. Alternatively you can use the Infrared option (slower) or the more up-to-date Bluetooth option (better speeds). Manage your phonebook ...

...a shop to unlock my Nokia 6630 and being told numerous times there was no chance due to a new coding system called BB5 and would cost upwards of £150.00 to unlock from the service provider I decided to invest in a new phone and that phone would be the Nokia 6280.
So the Nokia 6280 is a 3G slide phone although it is not a smart phone(but has all the capabilities, the difference being it don’t have a symbian operating system).

Advantages: Looks great, lovely big screen, good sound Disadvantages: Awkward slider, poor recording microphone
The nokia 6280 is intended to be a competitor for the likes of the Samsung D500/600 series. These kind of slide action phones are coming back into fashion in a big way, and this Nokia has bags of style. My friends won't stop picking it up when I leave it lying around!
For me, the looks of this phone far surpass those of the Samsungs and the biggest selling point has got to be the screen size. Its HUGE! The 2Megapixel camera makes full use of this. ...

Advantages: Good MP3 player and Camera, Stylish Slide Design Disadvantages: Software faults and low battery life
As Nokia are renound for their durability when it comes to mobile phones I felt confident that my purchase of the 6280 would be a good one. I was, however sadly disappointed.
The 6280 appears to be the one phone that Nokia gave up on; by this I mean although various software faults were reported to Nokia after the launch of this phone, They decided that instead of improving the product they wrote it off as a bad job and moved onto the Nseries. ...

Advantages: Great connection options, 3G functionality, fantastic screen, Mobile TV Disadvantages: Very plastic, flimsy, attracts dust, slow at times.
I got my Nokia 6280 as part of my upgrade package. At first I was disappointed with the phone and contacted Vodafone to organise a pick-up and alternative phone. I felt there was no way on an 18 month contract that this phone would survive! However, the more I played with the phone itself, the more I wanted to keep it.
The first thing I have to say about it is that the screen is top quality. The colours are very vibrant and I struggle to pick a ...

The Nokia 6280 is a great phone at the low-mid range price bracket. It has a lot of features that similarly priced phones have and while none of them are exactly top of the line they're above average.
As a phone it's very good, but it also offers a music player, radio tuner, basic PIM options such as calendar, appointment scheduling, sync. options with PC, a web browser plus Tri-band GSM and 3G connectivity. There is support for Java programs and ...

Making calls is straightforward, although when the keypad is revealed, I found that the top row of keys are very close to the top sliding part of the phone, so it's not so easy to dial "by touch". It brought to mind an episode of The Simpsons ("The fingers you have used to dial are too fat. ...
