Advantages: Great phone with lots of good features Disadvantages: screen goes black and white in bright sunlight
...people will have owned a Nokia phone at one time or other. The company was actually first started in Finland and dates back to 1865, believe it or not the company started as a paper mill! The paper mill merged with a rubber works and cable works in 1967 to make up the world famous Nokia Corporation. In 1992 they lunched their first GSM handset the Nokia 1011, in 1994 the first phone with the famous Nokia tune and more importantly in 1997 the 6110 ...

Advantages: Great quality with all the latest features, generally awesome! Disadvantages: Keys sometimes don't respond
...people remember the old classic Nokia 3210, quite heavy with its redeeming feature being snake. Since then Nokia has come a long way and I've had several Nokia phones in my time: the good old 3210, a 6210 which was originally intended for business and had a huge memory, a cute 6233 with a 2megapixel camera along with many other features, and finally a 6500 slide.
WHY/HOW I GOT IT
A couple of years ago a company called 'future phones' called me ...

...always going to be a Nokia as any I'd had previously had been better than other brands Id used, and one of the newer options avaliable was this the 6500 slide.
As Im with Orange I had the option of the new black version or the original silver, I chose the black simply because they had it in stock at the time.
On receiving the handset my intial impressions were about its weight and size. With a predominantly metal casing it feels robust and ...

...dubious, after all my previous nokia had been awful.
However i felt this phone would be different as oon as i took it out of its box!!!
I love this phone, it has a sleek neat and sophisticated design, which makes it easy to use. The buttons are of a decent size and i have not had any response problems with the buttons either. The phone is lightweight, and the metal case means that if you are accident prone like me then if you drop it it won't ...

...deliberation I decided on the Nokia 6500 slide in black. I could have got the silver phone at a much cheaper price but I decided that the black one looked too good to turn down.
First Impressions
If you look at the phone from a top down view you will see that the screen is quite big. Infact it is 2.2 inches which is fairly big. Below the screen are four buttons as well as 4 directional buttons in silver. The bottom two buttons are the main calling ...

Advantages: Easy to use interface, good quality camera, music player Disadvantages: Not enough memory, camera not great in low light
...have just upgraded to the Nokia 6500 after a year using a Sony Erricson, and have to say I am glad to be back with a Nokia. The interface is so easy to use, with a very clear menu and easy to use text message input.
Starting with the look of the phone, the design is very sleek and I particulary like the polished metal on the exterior and the minimislist design. The phone has a good sized screen with a very clear display and is quite thin. The ...

Advantages: Stylish, well built - good quality, easy to use Disadvantages: Few errors, sometimes crashes.
I got this phone as an upgrade on my O2 contract from the 6300, initially when comparing, I felt the 6500 slide was quite large and heavy but after a month I feel I can comment more appropriately on all of it's features.
LOOK & FEEL
The phone generally looks quite stylish. I own the fully black model which I feel gives it quite a modern look, I have found quite a few people noticing the phone and questioning me on what model it is etc.

...interface is as friendly as Nokia can get.
Connectivity
I have tested it for bluetooth and it worked fine. I connected the Slide with my laptop, with another phone and with a pair of Nokia wireless headphones. All connections were seamless, except for reconnecting the headphones for a second time - I had to pair the phone with the headphones all over again to make it work.
I also hooked it up to my computer via it's USB port to download music ...

...having owned a rather uneventful Nokia 6100 for many years.
I was pleased by the variety of features available, particularly those that I'd been missing out on such as a camera, music player, bluetooth, among others.
The design is very satisfying and the slide mechanism seems vastly improved over many previous Nokia efforts. The camera and video recorders perform well and the clarity when making phonecalls is thoroughly impressive when compared ...

Great phone! Review ofNokia 6500 Slideby
funkyassbassman
Advantages: Great sleek design, Good speaker quality, Great camera! Disadvantages: Pc suite only for PC, rubbish headphone jack set up.
...not, there is also the Nokia 6500 Classic which is (I assume) the same phone but without the slide design.
When I read the phone was 3.2 megapixels, I couldn't believe it. It turns out this is the new standard for phones. I guess I have been a little bit behind in phone technology recently. The camera is really great though. It has an LED flash, with two LEDs I believe. It looks as good as a digital camera to me, it's perfect for what I need (taking ...

As mentioned just above, the phoene looks and feels really nice in your hands. The Stainless steel backing takes a couple of days before it stops fingerprinting so there is no major issue there. That was one of my major concerns but luckily, no ...

I just got the nokia 6500 slide phone a week ago at phones4u. To be honest I normally loooove Soni Ericson phones so I wouldn't normally go for anything else. However the Nokia 6500s sleek chunky cute design caught my attention and I was hooked!
This phone is adorable, its a bit chunky compared to the contemporary flat phones that have become the fashion, but I like chunky because it means I won't loose the phone and I can easily find it amongst ...

I got this phone about a month ago, and so far there have been no troubles which i suppose is good. I got it for £209 from carphone warehouse and even though it sounds expensive, for me its well worth the money. The camera is better than some digital camras on the market, and until you actually take a picture you cant imagine the amazing quality that it has, and the zoom is also really good quality close up. So far i have only found one bad thing, ...
