Does Size Really Matter
Review of Nokia 8890 by
Bonetony
Advantages: small size, chrome finish, great for image
Disadvantages: buttons hard to press, breaks easy
Well here it is the Nokia 8890 I finally got round to trying one, Nokia make it sound wonderful they say works on five continents, Voice Dialling, Predictive Text, Good Sound, Infra red Link and Picture Messaging wow. But I was not so sure it would be so wow after using a Nokia 8850.
When first viewing the phone you realise the design is exactly the same as the Nokia 8850 it still has the very stylish design in chrome. The buttons are finished ...

how cool is this
Review of Nokia 8890 by
puccio
Advantages: very small and cool
Disadvantages: some weak areas
The Nokia 8890 (henceforth referred to as the 8890) is built quite solidly. There is very little creaking and minimal flexing. I found that the back battery door moves just a little bit, but this not a problem. The slide opens smoothly and closes with a nice click.
I had two problems with the phone; the phone's LCD screen was just slightly off to the left so the bottom left most pixel is obscured. This may seem VERY nitpicky (even somewhat crazy) ...

Company's first World Phone
Review of Nokia 8890 by
meeshaman
Advantages: Small Sleek and Very Sexy
Disadvantages: The aerial is a fragile affair
The Nokia 8890 is the company's first "world phone" in that it supports both 900MHz and 1900MHz GSM. This allows operation in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and some parts of Asia as well as the majority of North America.
Physically, the phone looks very similar to the 8850, which is designed for the 900MHz and 1800MHz bands, with the addition of small aerial. The 8890 is marginally smaller than the chrome 8810 and seven grammes lighter. It is ...

Internationally sleek, hot little number
Review of Nokia 8890 by
Paulwt
Advantages: Stylish, infrared and modem built in. Tri-band functionality.
Disadvantages: Expensive, get very hot after extended use.
I swapped my original Nokia 8850 for the 8890 when I needed a phone to use in the US. Due to the fact that the 8890 is Tri-Band it means that not only does it work with all major networks in the UK (Vodaphone, Cellnet, Orange, One2One) but also with most cellular networks in the US.
The 8890 is encased in a sleek brushed aluminium casing with silver trim and has a black head sporting the Nokia logo. The keypad is accessible via a slider at the ...

handy round the world.
Review of Nokia 8890 by
Flasher88
Advantages: look at the text
Disadvantages: look at the text
Thus, I must say. The Nokia 8890 looks really totally beautiful, but the appearance alone does not count. A still so beautiful Handy could be totally stupid in reality and bring nothing. Therefore I took the Nokia 8890 times somewhat more exactly under the magnifying glass:
I found out that only 2 hours and 30 minutes load it to the integrated vibrationsthing need. By the showing the display, to which displays the Akku is as full, one can in time ...

The madest phone on the market, to date
Review of Nokia 8890 by
Paz21
Advantages: Tri band
Disadvantages: Expensive
...should not be underestimated. The Nokia 8850 is slim & light, has voice dialling, picture messaging, smart messaging, predictive text input, matte aluminium covers. The phone has five line for text and graphics as well as an amazing white sort of light in the back. It has a built in infrared modem and a cable can also be used to connect it up to the PC. The sliding cover is active and very strong. ...

Review of Nokia 8890 by
shak_y2k
Advantages: looks good
Disadvantages: everything even the looks, make the fone look like a toy!
try either the motorola tri band better value for money and you know you get the best available option rather than a fashion objectthis fone was the given to me by my network provider before i went abroad to america. i required a tri band phone. as i had an 8850 they offered me a 8890 and my fone as a deposit. to be totally honest this fone is is a waste of money. you pay extra for a tri band function. it is the same fone as the 8850 but not dual ...

Sleek phone BUT
Review of Nokia 8890 by
pqilipp
Advantages: Can be use in USA
Disadvantages: Not fully supported in USA
Nokia 8890 is an exact replica of 8850 except that it has a dual band at GSM900 and GSM1900, which support vodaphone, cellnet in this continent and most of the asia countries and GSM 1900 support USA's network. In another word you almost cover the whole world.
However, since most of the USA is still using analogue phone, GSM1900 is not fully supported in the whole of USA (only in big cities like New York, Washington). So, even if you do one day ...

Nokia 8890, both stylish and useful!!!
Review of Nokia 8890 by
samhankinson
Advantages: Very stylish. Slide
Disadvantages: Aerialsometimes neccessary for extra signal and looks somewhat wierd
I recently rediscovered my Nokia 8890 whilst looking through some boxes and decided to give it another go. Once I started using it I was astonished at its usefulness even though it is now a relitavely old phone. As soon as I showed it to my friends they were all amazed and wanted a go. It is a remarkably useful phone with all the tools you could need in a phone but in one of the most stylish outer casings Nokia has ever created. I have now been using ...

Worth the Money!!
Review of Nokia 8890 by
indiankid
Advantages: phone and organiser
Disadvantages: Size
Everyone, I am writing to tell you how brilliant theis phone is. Not only is it a mobile phone but it also has the capabilites of sending emails and calender and address book features. Some of you might think, "well... its a bit big!" but if you think about it, it is small for both a mobile and a personal oraniser all rolled into one!! I bought one from the orange shop in derby, and i am pleased i bought it and it is worth very penny!! If oyu are ...

organize your life!
Review of Nokia 8890 by
NickHall
Advantages: so much to do on it
Disadvantages: expensive
...of being a phone the Nokia 8890 is so much more, a calendar, organiser and mini computer all in one. You can send and recieve emails and there are so many functions and gizmos you'll forget you can use it to call people on. You'll never be stuck for something to do on the bus when you have one of these, just don't annoy everyone else with it though. This phone is thoroughly recomended if a little expensive, it may suit the more hectic life of a buisnesman ...
