    I went to amsterdam last year and deiced to take out a single trip travel policy to make sure well if i got ill or my bags where stolen then id be covered. I search on the internet and found prices around £20 for the length of time i was going. i then tried to get one through work and as a member of staff i get a discount, ummmm well we get 5% not a huge amount on a small policy, other people who work in the insurance world if they get a policy through there own company discounts are above 10% at least. but with the small price of the policy i wasnt really all that worried.     I have just purchased an annual travel insurance policy using www.norwichuniondirect.com website. PRICING - very competitive - we were quoted £45 each for a single trip policy (within EU) through the travel agent, the ANNUAL policy from NU came out at £82 per year (for WORLDWIDE cover) for the pair of us. We go on holiday three times a year...so this policy will prove its worth after just one trip.(These figures based on our ages of 34 and 38) EASE OF QUOTATION - very very easy to navigate the website and it was nice a quick too - I hate hanging around for pages to load!     Getting a quote for travel insurance for 2 weeks in cyprus started off at £96 for two of us from various travel insurers so searching the internet Sreentrade came up to find the best quote searching all those available, and this it did at £11.50 from each, thinking that there must be a catch I checked the company out and found it to be underwritten by Norwich Union and proceeded to purchase the cover.     I recently purchased single trip travel insurance to the USA through Norwich Union, the service was fast, efficient and cheap. The web-site provides an online quote, which came to £28, and is very easy to use. Answer a few questions and hey presto job done. You can call for a quote if you prefer. The price NU quoted was far cheaper than other providers. I asked for quotes from several, including Tesco (£43) and Natwest (£41), and found that most of them are simply resellers of insurance that is provided by other insurers - which means they are selling on a commission basis - therefore dealing ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Prices may be based as much on loyalty to your bank as they are on insurance risk.

    If you call: HSBC, First Direct, Abbey National, National Trust ATL and most unions, along with many other groups, you will end up speaking to the same operator? These banks and other organisations act as brokers selling insurance on behalf of CGNU. You probably wouldn't be too shocked to discover that. What might surprise you is the fact that you will be directed through to the same operator when you call these agencies!     I called Norwich Union for a quote because I was going on a trip to the US. Realising that insurance would be expensive to a destination that has such outrageous medical bills I expected to pay a lot. However when I called for a quote they advised me that I should buy the annual insurance (It was cheaper than the one trip, because I was going for 6 weeks). I paid around £40-50 for annual insurance, which I thought was a great deal! When I got home I had to make a small baggage claim and was sent a cheque within a week of posting the claim!     hi there everyone, i have an opinion about norwich union travel insurance, i recently took a holiday to australia, and need travel insurance for my three week stay, so i shoped around and ffound at £40 norwich union was the best, whilst in australia i need some treatment for blocked ears and need my ears siringing(please excuse my spelling), and need to go to hospital a+e , after going there i tried to call norwich union helpline, from oz, needless to say i got put on hold for like 30 minutes and then i got fed up and hung up, after i returned to the uk, i quickly contacted norwich union ... more

    Most policys seem to be the same so maybe I am harsh. I flew to Germany with Ryan Air and on the return the flight was cancelled due to fog. This cancellation in accordance to EU reglations 261/2004 is beyond the control of the airline so they are not liable for your costs and they did not have another flight for 48 hours. So booked with a competitor the next day. You would thnk your insurer would step up to the plate one way or another especially given I called them from the airport to ask for advice and either take ryan air on or pay out.     we have been abroad twice so far this year and booked both insurances with norwich union online, i am 43, my wife is 40 and the cost of each trip we took to europe was £23.50. most of the other online insurance companies were well over £30.00 and some over £40.00 per couple based on a 7 day trip.so they were much cheaper than anywhere else we looked.a word of warning though we are going again in a few weeks and booked online , but the cost goes up by a couple of pounds, amazing what a birthday can cost you.
