Swindling a swindler

Advantages: A delightful read
Disadvantages: None

...clarify that it certainly does not deal about how to go about earning that kind of money. One million dollars - that's the figure that Harvey Metcalfe, lifelong king of shady deals has pulled off with empty promises of an oil bonanza and instant riches from four unsuspecting investors. Metcalfe is a street- smart self-made businessman who floats a bogus oil company and puts out eye-catching articles in the newspapers that his company has struck ...
...steal every dollar back - Not a penny more, Not a penny less (net of all expenses, of course!) from the man who stole it from them in the first place. Metcalfe has made a career out of swindling people all his life but this time he has swindled the wrong men. Our four heroes band together and shadow him from the casinos of Monte Carlo to the high-stakes windows at Ascot trying to recover all their savings and to beat the swindler at his own game. ...

Advantages: A good story with exceptional characters, an enjoyable finale.
Disadvantages: A slow starter.

...with an offer they can not refuse; the opportunity to get their money back from Harvey Metcalfe, and without him knowing it. They agree, and start the process of getting back $1 million, not a penny more, not a penny less (plus expenses, of course). The deal is this; each member of the team must come up with a plan to get their share of the money back, using the other members if necessary. They all go back to their lives to think up their plans. ...
...ready, except James, he can not think of any way to sting Harvey for the money. Never the less the other plans are to go ahead. They are all to take place during Harvey’s usual tour of Europe, and the only weapons that they have is Harvey’s very predictable habits and the fact that he has never met any of them. He loves to give money to the big Universities, his generosity to Harvard is well known. He loves impressionist paintings, and still needs ...

...for exactly what they lost, not a penny more, not a penny less. Jeffrey Archer really does describe the storyline well, also he manages to get over the impression that you know the characters really well and have known them all your life. I am always going to be a bit biased about this books because it is one of my favourite books by Jeffery Archer. I am at the moment reading all the Jeffery Archer that I have I will write an opinion about them ...

Advantages: The clever plots, and the amazing ending.
Disadvantages: None, its a superb book.

...vow to get it back. Not a penny more, not a penny less. Together, the four men pull off a number of schemes to con the rich 'owner' of the company. Amusing and clever scams, designed to delight the audience. And its good to see the bad guy falling for them utterly and hopelessly. An enjoyable, clever and humorous read, with a fantastic ending, that is typical Archer. If you like Archer, read this, if you have never read Archer, read it anyway. A ...

Fully Recommended Read

Advantages: Excellent Read, Great Story, Well Written
Disadvantages: Reasonably Short!

...About the Book: Not a Penny More, Not a Penny less is his first book that he wrote in 1976 (actually the year I was born!). Not a Penny More, Not a Penny less follows the story of a conman Harry Metcalfe who is a self made millionaire, who swindles 4 men out of 1 Million dollars in a searching for Oil scam. The 4 men all expect to be rich following this investment, but find themselves virtually bankrupt instead. The four men come from different ...
...money back. I am not going to go into the actual plots here as that would just spoil the book - and then whyshould you want to read it. There is a most amusing twist at the end of the tale, which Jeffrey Archer is well known for. My Opinion: This is Jeffrey Archer's first Book, and in my opinion is probably one of his best. My only complaint is that it is too short, I am always gripped by this book and never want to put it down, and therefore ...

Have this in your library

Advantages: A Wonderful introduction to the master story-teller
Disadvantages: Relatively short so characters were not as in-depth

I have read all of Archer's books many times and this one ranks as my favourite. It combines humour with a twisting tale and there are many points throughout the story that you can't help but chuckle. The plot - 4 men are entrapped by a businessman with a clever ploy and lose all their life savings. They need to get it back and each one has to put a plan into operation. Excellent story with a wonderful ending and a book I will pick up and read if ...
...characters are quite lightweight in descriptive terms unlike the detailed knowledge of characters in Kane and Abel, the book is very much targetted at the main storyline. It is also wonderful if you like reading about gullible Americans as the 'bad-guy' is caught hook, line & sinker on 3 separate occasions; however they are also potentially plausible. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants to get into Archer and having written this ...

...for exactly what they lost, not a penny more, not a penny less. The story line is very good, it is one of my favourite books by Jeffrey Archer. (I hope I haven’t given to much of the story line away.) you do have to read this book carefully or you will miss some of the more refined detail, also if you like myself who reads books fast, you will enjoy reading the book again and again. GENIUS

Advantages: The stroy line and the ending
Disadvantages: too short

Not a penny more not a penny less is a very good book and i highly reccomeend it. The way that the story unfolds is outstanding, and i feel that out of all of the books that Archer has written this one best shows how incredible his imagination really is. To think up plots like this, and include the twists that he does is incredible, i have never read another author that can demand your attention to a page like Archer, it is as if every word he writes ...
...Iron. You cannot put this book down. Archers best writing attribute is certainly his ability to put twists and turns into a story like no other author on the face of the earth, and he has certainly put his best attribute to best use here, this is an excellent novel, with excellent characters and an excellent plot. In my personal opinion most of his books are on 2 levels. The eleventh commandment, A matter of honour, Kane & Abel, The prodigal daughter, ...
