Nurofen comes in different size boxes that are rectangle in shape and silver in colour. They contain the words Nurofen in big red letters with a picture of a red and yellow target on the front. Advantages: Good pain killer Disadvantages: Can be harsh on the stomach, those with asthma should tread carefully
...already covered an op on Nurofen Plus - but am a little concerned at some of the misconceptions about the nurofen product range. I trained as a nurse many years ago and more recently worked for three years as a stock control manager for a pharmaceutical company, whereby I needed to develop and maintain a broad knowledge on a variety of medical products from the common aspirin to the more powerful stuff that we won't mention here. WHAT IS IT?
Nurofen (Generic name Ibuprofen) belongs to a group of drugs known as NSAID's (Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs), and has similar properties to Aspirin, but is apparently not as harsh on the stomach. Aspirin and Ibuprofen MUST never be combined as it will increase the risk of stomach bleeds. Users should be wary of using Nurofen (or any of the generic own brands such as Superdrug, Unichem, Tescos, Sainsburys and names ...

Advantages: It works. Disadvantages: Expensive, when you consider the cost of generic Ibuprofen.
...come in asking me what Nurofen contains, whether or not it contains Aspirin is surprising. It's actually a *lot* cheaper to buy generic Ibuprofen rather than Nurofen.
Nurofen is a brand name for Ibuprofen. Iburofen itself is a non-steriodal anti-inflammatory, or NSAID. It has three actions: analgesic (pain-killing), anti-inflammatory (reduces swelling) and anti-pyretic (fever/temperature-reducing).
It is useful for all kinds of pain-relief, such ... ...temperature after a fever.
Nurofen should not be taken if you have had a history of stomach-ulcers. If you are asthmatic, or have heart problems, and haven't had Nurofen/Ibuprofen before, you should let the pharmacy assistant know. Although Nurofen can provoke your asthma, it does so only in a very small number of sufferers. If you are taking any prescribed medication, you should also tell this to the assistant that serves you.

...really more of a warning. Nurofen is an extremely useful medicine. It is an excellent anti-inflammatory and seems to get to the site of pain fast. There is, however, something you should all be aware of.
This medication can do a lot of damage to your stomach. I used this as a painkiller over about an eighteen month period and it caused a stomach ulcer to develop. I took Nurofen a few years ago, when I was living at home with my parents during my wilderness years. I had a severe headache, and found them in the back of the bathroom cabinet - my big brother had left them behind. I read the side of the packet, and read through the leaflet that came with them. I found out that Nurofen must only be sold over the counter (OTC), and that some asthmatics (I had mild asthma and rarely needed an inhaler) could suffer an allergic ...

Neurofens are one of the best over-the-counter painkillers available on the market today. The main ingredient is ibuprofen which doubles up as a very effective anti-inflammatory and reduces fever and high temperatures.
