Advantages Advantages £30 worth of messages absolutely free

Disadvantages Disadvantages Calls can be expensive

Having been an o2 customer for many years, in fact ever since I got my first mobile phone at the age of 14, I was keen to see what all the fuss was about with regards to their relatively new sim card that offers 300 free messages and 1Mb of WAP for you to go surfing the net on your phone with. I have always been one to text and rarely phone anyone (unless its my taxi service or rather my mum!). Not so long ago, o2 changed their tariffs slightly, and the price to send a text message on the original tariff went up from 10p to 12p. Now being a bit of a text addict, I wasn't happy with this ... more

Advantages Advantages £30 worth of text messages free, 1MB of WAP, lots of extras

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive call charges so not suitable for everyone

If you're a complete text-a-holic like me, then O2 PAYG Talkalot is the way to go. For this reason I'll talk mostly about the text side of things - though there are other variants of this which I know less about but do mention. I had heard a lot of talk about Genie sims and then my friend got one. I didn't choose to get one myself until the tariff I was then on put it's message rate up to 12p a text and I started to look at how much I was spending on my phone every month. It's fair to say that I mostly use my phone for text messages, and so this tariff is probably one of the best deals around ... more

For this reason I'll talk mostly about the text side of things - though there are other variants of this which I know less about but do mention. I had heard a lot of talk about Genie sims and then my wife got one. I didn't choose to get one myself until the tariff I was then on put it's message rate up to 12p a text and I started to look at how much I was spending on my phone every month. Now me, my wife and my daughter have all got one, so cheap calls between us is another bonus. It's fair to say that I mostly use my ... more

Advantages Advantages £30 free texts, Good email help service

Disadvantages Disadvantages None I can think of

I’m a texter, I do more texts than I do calls, therefore I was very intrigued by this deal. However it is good even if you make calls more. You can get these sim cards from Ebay, from the O2 website (£9.99) or for free through special promotions on the O2 website. Basically this sim enables you to receive 300 free texts a month for topping up with £10. As along as your phone is unlocked or you are currently on O2 all you need to do is pop the sim in your phone. You need to top up a minimum of £10 to allow you to get the free texts. Within 48 hours you will be able to start using these texts ... more

Advantages Advantages 300 free text messages & 1Mb free WAP

Disadvantages Disadvantages customer services is expensive

lisaleahjack has already provided a detailed review, which is why I searched out this deal in the first place, so I'll try not to repeat too much. After my discoveries about ThreePay I was keen to find an alternative pay-as-you-go deal that better suited the way I use a mobile phone. O2's "online" deal sounded great, but knowing my luck I was expecting it not to be on the market anymore. Thankfully I was wrong! A quick search of their website confirmed it was still available. Now I needed to find a new phone (as my current mobile at 5+ years old has reached senility). Investigation at my local ... more

Advantages Advantages 300mins to anyone plus 300 text mesages 10% credit back every 3 months

    Disadvantages Disadvantages only off peak

I have had a pay as you go phone for over 7 years and decided to have acontract phone from 3, (see previous review) it was a complete nightmare and I couldn't wait to end the contract. I went with out a phone for a week and it was driving me mad. But whilst checking my hotmail an advert comes up for o2. Free sim card, for every £10 credit you got 300 texts. 25p a minute for the first 3mins then 5p after (other o2 and land lines) I thought great, that will do, 3 days later the sim came through the post. I got hold of an old phone and I was up and running. I plodded along with that for a bout 6 ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of texts free!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Have to top-up to get texts

I was surfing on the internet at one point, and an O2 banner ad caught my eye - I clicked the banner and read the terms of the offer and decided to order myself some free sim cards... now most of my friends are no the network taking advantage of all the free texts! I'v always been one to text rather than phone, and with 300 free texts every month that I top-up my phone, i've found me monthly phone bill has been cut from around £40 a month to £10!! Although any remaining texts left at the end of the month do not carry into the next month; the great thing is that any remaining credit left on ... more

Advantages Advantages Good coverage, lots of extras included

Disadvantages Disadvantages none that i know of

I belive this tariff was formerly known as Genie some time ago, But o2 mustve bought them out or something. The basic idea is you top up £10 a month minimum, and when you do you recieve 300 free texts and 1Mb worth of GPRS to use up. These dissapear after a month but the £10 credit doesn't. Calls are very cheap and i would reccomend getting o2 friends (uses £4.99 of your credit per month), this allows you to choose 3 numbers and you get half price everything to them, which is a good deal if you are a heavy user of calls and might go over your 300 free texts. i have been using the service since ... more

With this o2 you can top up when ever you want by credit or debit card, top up vouchers minimum £10 available, or even easier if you buy a top up card and keep the card afterwards, you can use it as a swipe card to get credit and your phone is automatically topped up. If you top up a minimum of £10 every month you get 300 free texts thrown in for free. You can alter this though depending on how you use your phone for example you can have 200 texts and 25 MMS messages or 100 texts and 50MMS's or just 75 MMS messages. You also get 300 free wap minutes too if you keep to the £10 monthly top up ... more

Advantages Advantages 300 free texts! Free Sim card!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Running out of free texts!

I've had this Sim card for about 2 years now (I think), and wouldn't consider changing it. The basic deal is that you top up your account each month with a minimum of £10, and you get 300 texts free. The £10 credit doesn't have to used, so if you never made any calls, or extra texts, then your credit would just continue mounting each month. You can buy these Sim cards from o2.co.uk, or an 02 shop. They are also usually available on Ebay. They usually cost £9.99, and will obviously work in any 02 phone, or any unlocked phone. Every so often 02 seem to do promos on these cards, about 6 months ... more
