The Versatile Flip Phone

Advantages: Great price, great features, camera of high quality and motion.
Disadvantages: Can only store 10 SMS messages.

Having read the reviews on ciao (and numerous other sites) I must admit I was wary of buying the 02x1. No one had much to say about the phone, other than “don’t buy it!” I was on the look out to upgrade my nokia phone to a camera phone, and at first I attempted to buy a Motorola V525 but found out the release of that specific phone wasn’t until late March. Being the inpatient person that I am, I couldn’t wait as long ...
...I read on it weren’t positive, and at the time the all-over rating of the phone on ciao was 2 stars, and many people said there was no point in buying the phone. I decided to wait for the release of the Motorola V525 and was eagerly anticipating its release until one day I read in a magazine that 02 had sorted out all of the 02x1’s problems and now it was a perfect phone for anyone; especially a first-time camera phone buyer. So, I took ...

Looks too Good to be True

Advantages: Looks good, Compact, Nice Screen and Rotating Camera.
Disadvantages: Bad Predictive Text, Lot's of Little Annoyances.

...annoyingly placed, for example the O2 button in the middle of the directional keys should surely be a menu or okay button instead, I mean who really wants a button which takes you directly to the O2 wap site and nothing else, you could have set a shortcut key for that! Saying all this the layout of the buttons is 'okay' and should not be a problem for nimble fingers. The menu on the phone looks like it should be easy to use as it shows two rows ...
...can only go through these icons in a set order of forward or back making it a little annoying if you're in a hurry. Moving through the menu can get confusing at times as to what button does what, as there is an okay button, a call button and a hang up button for you to use. It appears that the okay button and the call button switch places every now and again as one brings up a menu and the other 'okay's' things as they please, surely they could be ...

O2 X1, don't judge a book by its phone cover

Advantages: Good camera, looks good
Disadvantages: Poor texting, not practical

...have had a contract with O2 for several years now and have had several phones within this period so without professing to be an expert, I’d like to think this review is not wholly unqualified. First Impressions Firstly, when I ripped the bubble wrapping off and pulled out my new phone, I was impressed by the way it looked. It’s a very attractive phone, with a completely metallic look. Its external display shows a battery meter, reception, time, ...
...What I found with the O2 X1 though is that the menu system is very confusing and irritating. It has a green phone button which you sometimes press to activate menus and confirm actions, but you also have an ok button which also does this at different stages so I was forever pressing the red cancel button to withdraw my actions. As with everything, you get to instinctively know how to do things eventually but it takes time to accustom yourself to ...

O2 X1 - Hot or Not?

Advantages: Looks very nice, and has a good colour screen.
Disadvantages: Bad predictive text, and can crash a little.

I got this phone for my birthday, in December. I opened the box and was amazed, it is very attractive and looks a lot more expensive than it actually is. When starting to play on it, it worked a dream and i really liked it. Ease of use - 6/10 This phone is incredibly different to the typical nokias everyone is used to, the keys used are different, and everything takes that little bit longer to do and get used to. Camera - 6/10 The camera is situated ...
...rotate it around to take pictures of yourself or of things infront of the camera. It is quite simple to use once you have got the hang of it, but can be a little confusing at first. The quality of the pictures is not very high, they come out blurred and dark, also there is no data cable yet (i think) so you cannot download your photos onto a computer. Wap capability - 5/10 My phone did not come with wap on, but i managed to set up a basic wap, ...

possible worst phone ever invented

Advantages: Good Camera, Good Looks, Ringtones
Disadvantages: Freezes, Crashes, Will probably take its last breath after 6months

The 02 X1 was a phone i longed to get, i loved it dearly until it said its last word - select ringtone then it froze and never worked again, took it to the carphone warehouse and they sent it off for repair. A long 6 weeks went past and i got told i would never get it back. So here is my review of the X1. .: Messages :. Texts are not an easy thing to send on this phone, the predictive text is rubbish and i wouldn't have been able to speed text ...
...once took me 4 minutes to send this message - ok then, see ya later. The message storage space was not great - about 9 or 10 depending on the size of the message. .:Making a call:. The phone can be comfortable to use when making a phone call, the problem is though you can hear the person incredibly well but they cant hear a word you say, even if your reception bar is on full. .: Ringtones :. The ringtones are great, they are polyphonic and they ...

Advantages: Looks good, good size, light, charges quickly
Disadvantages: Bad predictive text, no snooze on alarm, no silent mode

...a new (free) phone on o2 and my requirements were a silver flip phone with colour screen, camera and polyphonic ringtones. The o2 X1 gives me these features, however, it misses out a lot of other features that I'd taken for granted with previous phones. The main problems with this phone were the predictive text is very slow which usually means you end up typing half your message in nonsense. You can't go back and easily edit words either like on ...
...type it again. The dictionary is quite limited compared to other brands and it seems to not remember words you type in in ABC mode but does remember nonesense words you type by accident which is highly annoying. The alarm on the phone has several problems with it. On previous phones if you set a time it would go off at that time the next day, however with this phone you have to set the actual day which sometimes you can forget to do which results ...

Advantages: Neat and compact a phone with a wow factor.
Disadvantages: O2 do not fully support it yet!

...rushed out to get an O2 X1 after seeing mine. The polyphonic ringtones are 40 voice ones and as such they sound very rich and loud (which was a problem also on my old Nokia). Although it has to be said that some of the in built ones are completely barmy, one (for SMS alerts) is a baby laughing/crying. Another of the melodies is an insane animal farm type thing with a catchy ditty behind it! My only real dissapointment with this phone is that the ...

...for the X1 on an O2 Leisuretime Plus tariff. £20 a month, or something like that, with some free texts or something. The phone seemed very good - digital camera, twext messaging, polyfilla ringtones, it had the lot. All was good for a few days, until I sent a text message, and the phone froze. "Ah well, they all do it once in a blue moon, it's still good" I thought, secretly wondering what I'd let myself in for. It didn't stop there. The phone had ...

Not one to be defeated, I took my phone to the 02 store in Luton, who provided me with a replacement phone whilst they ironed out the bugs in my phone. Bugs in the phone? No wonder it wouldn't work - that can't have done it much good. Anyway, ...

Firstly if I programme numbers into the phone instead of the SIM, the caller is not recognised when they call up. However it works for if the number is stored in the SIM. ...stood right next to an O2 mobile mast with full signal! Oh one last point, if you drop your phone a lot, this is a good phone for withstanding drops even on concrete considering the amount of technology rammed in it (2 LCD screens and all). I am looking to replace this phone with one of the new Nokia's out next month (March 2005) as I ...

All that money...such a rubbish phone...

Advantages: Camera,colour screen,GPRS
Disadvantages: fragile, low storage, low battery life

This was my boyfriend's old phone, and he had nothing but trouble with it. When he first bought it, it seemed perfect, but not long after the battery kept coming loose. It also kept turning itself off because the battery wouldn't hold the charge- he even bought a replacement battery but still had the same problem!! And it fits perfectly in a pocket or handbag. The aerial got in the way, and wasn't removable- so this was uncomfortable in the pocket. It had a carry case with it too, but it was too tight a fit for the phone, and it obscured the phone screen. The buttons were quite big, but after a while they ...

Is it a phone or a really old piece of technology?

Advantages: Flip cover, built in camera, cool ringtones!
Disadvantages: Acts like a really old computer, crashes, slow!

I aqquired this phone just before christmas 03, i wanted to go onto contract and this phone was the only free one with a camera and flip cover! The description on the 02 website was very minimal "Integrated swivel digital camera, Small and compact, full with all the latest features, GPRS, JAVA and WAP enabled" is what it says, not enough info from there part me thinks!
