Advantages: great rates and offers, good network coverage, good customer service online Disadvantages: costly when used abroad
I have used O2 as my phone network provider for over eight years now (dating right back from when they were initially BT Cellnet!). My loyalty to O2 is strong as a result of having had such a positive experience with them for so many years. Therefore, I feel that it is time that I shared my experiences with all of you!

Being young, I initially had pay as you go simcards with O2 and found them to offer some better deals than other networks at the time. I obtained an O2 Genie Sim, which as long as I topped up at least £10 per month gave me 300 free text messages. There were various other offers by O2 and at one time I had free phone calls to a chosen landline number which was great.

The signal strength albeit does weaken when in very remote areas, but from having experienced this issue ...

...This review is about O2 and the service that they offer. I will aim to give an honest account of my dealings with them including the good and the bad points.
I am a Financial Director for a local company and needed to get some new mobile phones for various members of the team. ...but decided to get an O2 Pay as you talk Sim card since my better half has (actually "had") an O2 contract phone. Now, since then we have both had nothing but problems with them (yes, its a "rant-view"). However, to be unbiased, let me tell you about the good points and the advantages to O2 first.

My other half had a fantastic contract deal as well - 500 minutes and zillions of texts for around £25 a month. I had paid £149 weeks previously on Voda, so I must say I was pretty gutted.
There is a very wide range of tariffs available, both on contract and Pay as you talk, and a very good range ...

I have been with o2 for around 5 years now, I was previously with Orange Pay as You go, I wanted to stay on a Pay as You Go mobile so I decided to get an O2 Genie Sim, at least then I would get 300 free texts a month!!!

O2 are excellent at rewarding customers for their loyalty. A scheme they have had running for about a year and a half now, is that every 3 months you receive 10% back from all your top ups.
Sometimes I top up around 50 pound a month, so at the end of the 3 months I end up with £15 free credit.

Advantages: Lots of free Text Messages Disadvantages: Outrageous Customer Careline charges for online customers
I connected to O2 in May last year, induced by the online offer of 500 free texts a month. As a self-confessed text-a-holic that was music to my ears, so I chose a £25 per month tariff and a free Sony Ericsson T300 from your website. The tariff is only available online (www.o2.co.uk) and ‘aint a bad deal all round. It includes 500 free off peak minutes to any network, 500 free texts (up to 125 of which can even be media messages), 500 free wap minutes ... ...& 2p off peak to o2 & landlines, 45p peak & 30p off peak cross net, 10p for text messages & 35p for media messages. One downside for me was that you don’t get a paper bill, these are available online for you to view and print out, which is fine when the system is up and running. The real catch, however, comes with the customer service helpline – 50p per minute for online customers and this service could not be worse.

Fourtunately after seeing a few ads, I realised that there were some really good SIM card only pay monthly deals going round. ...If you haven't hear of O2 then I have no idea where you could have been but basically this is the score. Advantages: Get through to some good and you get excellent service. Good tarrifs and coverage. Disadvantages: Get through to someone bad, and you may as well give up!
My experiences with O2 have been very mixed. I think I must have experienced worst customer service, but also some of the best during my time with them.
First of all, I do feel that O2 offer the best tarrifs and prices out of all of the network providers, and in my experience they also provide the best signal and network coverage - or at least in my area.
