Advantages: I DON'T LOOK ANY OLDER THAN 53 Disadvantages: I DON'T LOOK ANY YOUNGER THAN 53
According to theory, the lines on one’s mature face represent the expression(s) most often used during one’s youth. If this is true, then I must assume that as a young woman, mr-zeeman spent a heck of a long time looking puzzled whilst laughing hysterically and squinting. (Unlike Judy Finnegan who apparently sucked a lot of lemons whilst watching too much television).
Facial creases are euphemistically referred to as “maps of experience” by me. ... ...them to be about as attractive as a running sore. They’re definitely top of the league in the “problems to be rectified” category, for women hell-bent on pretending to be younger than they actually are. One of the ploys used by firms pushing anti-wrinkle products, is the scary concept of *Premature Ageing*. What is that, exactly? Is there some unwritten rule about how many wrinkles, and how much facial sagging, is allowed for each advancing year? ...

Advantages: Excellent moisturizer, helps combat seven signs of aging Disadvantages: Expensive, possibly not as effective as they claim
Time can be very cruel, I had good skin as a teenager but I had two wonderful boys and things have gone pear shaped over the years!
As I’ve gotten older my skin has become quite dry and incredibly sensitive, the slightest thing will set it off and I’m presented with a blotchy mess that takes days to recuperate. With this thought in mind, it was quite difficult to choose a moisturizer that would make my dull skin look and feel more alive.
I was ... ...and it contained, amongst other things, a small sample tube of Olay Total Effects. So, with a little trepidation, I gave it a try for a week!
*** Packaging ***
Olay Total Effects is packaged fairly simply in a black box with the Olay logo in gold. The actual moisturizer container is quite ingenious, the pump is ‘horn shaped’ and the lid is clear Perspex, which protects the product from contamination (at least, that’s what I believe it’s designed ...

Advantages: Great moisturising properties, absorbs quickly Disadvantages: More expensive than others
The old ‘Ulay’ products were never moisturising enough for me, as I have always had quite dry skin. However, I was intrigued by the launch of the Olay Total effects range a while ago, which promised to help reverse the 7 signs of aging – just what I need! The range consists of more than just face creams and moisturisers, and the product I have used the most is the body lotion, or as Olay call it “body anti-aging moisturising treatment”. So, can it ... ...this product looks like so it can be recognised on the shelves. Like many of the Olay Total Effects range, it is in a black box, about 7 inches high, with gold and white writing. Inside the box is a white plastic container with a black plastic lid and a pump to get the cream out. You need to press the pump a number of times when you first use the product, but a quick word of warning here. I have bought about 6 of these body lotions, but the last ...

Advantages: really really rich and sumptuous. Disadvantages: Deceptive packaging and silly price.
...really. Naughty naughty Oil of Olay! BUT, having said all that, and having found out their wicked evil tricks - I'm still a fan. After all, it's a great product. My face is very hard to please usually, so when I do find something it likes, I hang onto it! I managed to pick up a bottle for £12 in a little price cut chemist in Winchester (where my mum lives), which is great because it normally retails at around £20, or just under. If you see an offer ... ...advantage, as I can't imagine anyone not loving it!
I don't think I'd ever buy it for its full retail value as for that price you could get a 'big name' brand. So, if I don't see it at an exceptional price again here in London - I'm ringing my mum! ...

Oil of Olay go on to say that during the development of Total Effects, they have worked with women (why not men, too???) worldwide to try and understand what concerns them about their skin as it ages. This has revealed to them that there is far more to facial ageing than just lines and wrinkles.
SEVEN SIGNS OF AGEING
There seem to be seven major signs of ageing that have been identified, as follows:-
1 Lines and wrinkles

...this as I always associated Oil of Olay with the older generation - my Nanna was a huge fan. Since I'm only 20, I figured I wouldn't need anti wrinkle potions etc. And I'm still convinced I don't, but that's beside the point since Total Effects is not just an anti wrinkle cream. Total Effects is a moisturizer with a difference, the difference being that, as far as my skin is concerned, it’s perfect. There are lots of things I love about it ... ...teeny tiny amount each time you use it - and it takes next to no time as it's easily absorbed. It leaves my skin smooth and - dare I say it - radiant. My last manager even commented on it once one early Sunday morning when I arrived at work - she wanted to know what I'd been up to the night before to give me such a glow...... Since I don't wear foundation or concealer or powder or blusher, I used to notice differences in my skin more depending on ...

Advantages: Excellent moisturiser, quickly absorber, good SPF Disadvantages: Quite expensive
Since Oil of Olay have changed to simply Olay, they have increased their product range no end. There are so many different sub-brands, like Total Effect and Touch, that I am losing track and I’m not sure which markets they are going for anymore. Not only is the range somewhat confusing now, but the differences in price range is quite large. I bought this moisturiser as I received a half price voucher and because I have sensitive skin on my face but ... ...The Total Effects range is the most expensive Olay range I have found, with prices below brands such as Clinique but above brands such as Nivea. This range promises to reverse the 7 signs of aging by:
• Visibly reducing lines and wrinkles
• Noticeably smooths skin texture
• Visibly evens skin tone
• Transforms skin dullness to a radiant healthy looking glow
• Reduces the appearance of pores
• Diminishes the appearance of blotches and age spots

Advantages: Moisturises my skin, except my fingers. Disadvantages: Numerous products but do they all work?
Several months ago, I requested a sample of the Total Effects Moisturiser from the Olay website. I wasn't prepared to buy a bottle of Total Effects without at least trying it first. My sample arrived several weeks later. It was a 7 ml black tub with gold writings. From the accompanying pamphlet, I was informed that Total Effects Moisturiser contains VitaNiacin and this lotion fights the 7 signs of ageing... First question I had was "What 7 signs ... ...lines and wrinkles.
2. Smoothes skin texture - visibly and to the touch.
3. Evens skin tone for younger-looking, more balanced colour.
4. Improves surface dullness, giving skin a radiant healthy glow.
5. Minimizes the appearance of pores.
6. Visibly reduces the appearance of blotches and age spots.
7. Soothes dry skin, hydrating with Olay moisture.
So, I was supposed to apply this to my skin for several weeks to see any reductions of the "signs ...

Advantages: Results are great for any skin type! Disadvantages: Costly, but well worth it!
I had bought Oil of Olay because the women in my family had used it, and in a way it just sort of got handed down from generation to generation(like fine jewelry). My mother had used it ever since I can remember...so I figured why not give it a try! ...have now started to use Oil of Olay Total Effects Body Lotion. After finding that my skin has altered over the years, when I was younger I used to have oily skin and never needed moisturisers but time is sometimes a bit cruel and parts of my facial skin has dried out, leaving me with comblination skin and dry patchs.
Whilst in the Bodycare shop in town I was browsing around the cosmetic shelves and came across this Oil of Olay.

The price however was 12.99. I know that the Bodycare shops sell products a lot cheaper than other shops so the normal price of this is probably a lot higher.

Advantages: Only need a tiny amount, feels luxurious, gives you yummy skin Disadvantages: Too expensive
After an unusually hefty pay packet, I found myself in Boots trawling the aisles for all the usual boring stuff. I had never been a huge advocate of facial moisturising, but had seen ads for Olay's Total Effects. When I saw it sitting there at eye level I decided I was worth the £18 and would treat myself. Even ... ...a strong smell, but I actually came to really like it. The pump-action dispenser means you don't end up with far more than you need and the thick cream smooths on very easily.
I noticed the difference within a matter of days. My skin seemed smoother and healthier, and definitely more hydrated. The effects of heavy nights out and too much alcohol weren't entirely negated but were certainly reduced, and it makes a great base for make-up. I'm still ...

Well I was! Unusually for me, I used the products. I was really pleased with the results and although I had not been a regular user of foundation, I bought some and have used it ever since. It really gave my skin a peachy look and didn’t streak or wear off. The lipstick was the same.

“Total Effects Time Resist Moisturiser is a product to help reduce the appearance of the seven signs of ageing for visibly younger-looking skin”. Update 9/9/01 Having prised the container apart, to get to the last drop, I discovered that this product is a bit of a rip off you don`t get as much as you think...see article
My Mum actually recommended this product to me. She`s 65 and obviously knows what she`s talking about.
I must admit I haven`t felt the need for moisturiser up until recently, albeit foolishly! However Mum was bought this as a present at £18.50 and thought the product was ... ...exactly flush, this seemed out of my price range.
However, our local market had some on sale for £8 so I treated myself and I`m glad I did. The moisturiser is silky, rich and absorbes beautifully leaving your skin feeling lovely and sooth, not at all greasy. I have noticed a marked improvement in my skins level of softness and would happily by the product again - hopefully as reasonably as last time!!!
The only problem is that I discovered, as ...
