Advantages Advantages Absorbed easily, UV protection, excellent moisturiser

Disadvantages Disadvantages Could be a higher SPF

Do you remember when a Snickers bar was called a Marathon and Oil of Olay was called Oil of Ulay? If so, sounds like you may have aging skin like me! The ‘double action’ in Oil of Olay Double Action Day Cream refers to moisturising and protection. MOISTURISING ‘It replenishes your skin’s natural moisture’ is the claim, and I would have to agree with it. The cream has a lovely creamy (surprise!) thick texture, which is non-greasy and is absorbed by my dry skin very quickly. This enables my skin to breathe and I don’t look like I have just greased up with lard ... more

Advantages Advantages softens skin, doesn't irritate skin, low price

Disadvantages Disadvantages doesn't help my eyes but then again it doesn't claim to

So, rather sadly, I have got to that age in life where I am thinking I look old and frankly terrible! In a bid to try and start looking after myself a bit more I bought various potions and one of the items I bought was the olay double action essential moisture day cream. I guess my reasoning behind buying this particular brand was just that I remember my mum having a bottle of oil of ulay as it used to be called on her dresser. I don’t think she ever used to use it but I remember liking the smell and things. I was familiar with the brand though and I had also heard women go on about olay ... more

Most or all of us have heard of Olay at some time or another, it's been around for years. Olay first begun in the 1950's by Graham and Dinah Wulff in a home laboratory, the batch even being mixed by hand. Within five years Olay was a hug success covering many countries. Today Proctor and Gamble have the Olay name firmly under there belt. I must admit to not having used this brand up until a few months ago, I do think that we should pay attention to our skin, mine gets very dry in the winter months on my face, and before Christmas needed a new moisturising day cream, and although I'm not a skin ... more

Advantages Advantages good value for money

    Disadvantages Disadvantages heavy, glass jar

I have been using Olay products since I was a teenager. This double action day cream is particularly good for my aging skin. I know I still look young as I am still asked for my ID in bars and pubs. This is not bad for a 40 year old! I am not sure whether to put it down to these products or a passing down of good genes but I do love using it. It soaks into the skin leaving it silky and smooth and it's perfume is subtle leaving a clean fresh smell. It doesn't leave an oily film like some products but it still seems to give the same amount of moisturisation. It lasts well throughout the day as I ... more

    Advantages Advantages Reasonably priced

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't think of any at all

I remember when I was a child, we always used to buy Oil of Ulay for my Mum at Christmas. I remember thinking then that O of U must be for old ladies. How wrong was I? Not so many years after, I began looking for a moisturiser that would suit my face and my pocket. Inspired by my Mums youthful looking skin, I decided to buy some O of U for myself and I haven't looked back since. Although many years have gone past and the name has now changed, I have never found anything that I like as much. Positives: * Compared to it's competitors, O of O is pretty much half their price and just as good. I ... more

Advantages Advantages Makes skin smooth and soft,

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly greasy on application

In my experience, Olay Double Action Day Cream moisturiser has made my skin softer than it's ever been before. On first application, Olay Double Action Day Cream moisturiser appears to make skin slightly greasy but absorbs very quickly. Perhaps because of this it would not be suitable for people with oily skin types. This day cream is light, making it easy to use before applying make up. It absorbs on skin within a couple of minutes, so causes no hassle while waiting for it to dry. Personally, I used to experience problems with bumpy skin and dry patches. After using Olay Double Action Day ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Oil of Olay Double Action Day Cream by Manella 20/04/2008
I am 60 years of age this year and I have been using 'Oil of Olay' for the past 28 years and my skin looks flawless; no wrinkles. This is just the daily moisturiser I am talking about. I have also used other products like special night creams, etc. This is a message for an advertising agency. If you need me to participate in one of your adverts I would be very happy do so. I am Manel and the phone number is 0118 987 5105. Thanks for reading this.

Advantages Advantages Its a wonderful cream, moistoriser, makeup-base,sunscreen

Disadvantages Disadvantages I can't think of anything

I have been using this since 1 year and to be frank its worth the money I pay.Mine is a dry and a very sensitive skin. And I have tried various products. At last I found this. It has proved to be a MULTIPURPOSE cream. It is serving as a : -->mostoriser, -->make-up base, -->sunscreen, -->cold cream too. It keeps my skin soft and smooth just as I wanted. Till date I have not found any side effects.I use it twice a day. I can say it is worth the money I pay...and also has made me save money for makeup base and other things as I stated earlier. One more thing I would like to add is it easily blends ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, nice smell, nice texture, doesn't make your face look oily, doesn't give you pimples

Disadvantages Disadvantages It doesn't hydrate extra dry spots on your face that well

I've been using this cream for over 2 years now and I'm content. I have a dry skin with a couple of dry spots and this cream keeps my skin moisturized. I usually apply this cream in the morning and when I get home late in the evening, my skin is still moisturized without being oily. It doesn't moisturize my dry spots that well though, especially if I'm applying foundation...so that's probably the only negative thing I can say about this cream. The cream doesn't give me any rash or spots/pimples and I have a pretty sensitive skin. I also like the smell and texture of the cream. It's not oily ... more

Advantages Advantages It really does protect and keeps the skin looking younger

Disadvantages Disadvantages The amount of money spent on it over the years

As a qualified Beauty Therapist I felt I should give an opinion on a product in which I really do believe and put my utmost faith. As a youngster I suffered badly with dry, scaly skin on my face, to the point of peeling and soreness. Having chatted to umpteen people regarding this problem, the one thing that always came up in the conversation was the word which we all know in the beauty business "moisturisation". Finally at the ripe old age of sixteen I decided to try 'Oil of Ulay' as it was then known.(Note the different spelling). The difference it made to my skin was just incredible. The ... more
