The Old El Paso Fajita kit is easily recognisable, as it is in a box apporximately 10" square and is decorated in their trade mark yellow background with a row of red Spanish style, roof tiles across the top. 'Old El ... ...down to the cook. The Old El PAso kit simply has the tortillas, the salsa and the spice mix with it. The spice mix becomes the main flavour of the dish really and it is a sort of paprika peppery taste, and is fairly spicy, if that makes any sense!! Anyway it is very nice and like I said one of my favourite dishes. You can alter the flavour in many different ways, by adding different veg, more or less spice mix, even more or less salt and pepper, ...

...time ago we discovered the Old El Paso range of dinner kits, including the fajitas version which I'm going to talk about here. Having eaten fajitas in a number of different restaurants, I can honestly say that I found this kit to be one of the most authentic reproductions I've tried - very often, the food in ready made meals bears no resemblance to the real thing and is generally not worth buying in my view.
You can find these packs, which come ... ...is available separately in the Old El Paso range, the only difference being that the salsa comes in a jar, there is more of it, and you can buy both mild and 'piccante'(hot) varieties. Needless to say, it's more expensive to buy the items individually; however, if you prefer corn tortillas to the flour type, at least the option is there.
To make the fajitas, you'll need one or two sweet peppers (they recommend red and green, but frankly, I think ...

Old El Paso Fajita Dinner Kits are a remarkably easy way to create a Mexican dish in your very own kitchen, resulting in a cullinary experience like no other!!! The taste itself is fantastic. The vegetables are left quite crisp giving a wonderfully crunchy yet spicy feeling in the mouth, and then the salsa sauce gives even more heat to them. If they are too hot, you can add sour cream or the like to them, but in my view this would be quite ...

...I love and that is Old El Paso, known for their great Mexican recipes, Fajitas, tacos and enchiladas they have them all. All their recipes are easy to follow and for a dinner are ready in no time at all.

Why do I like it? Well, its very tasty and very simple and needs limited input from me.
OK Andy, what are Fajitas?
Fajitas are a Mexican food that involve wrapping vegetables or meats in a flour based Tortilla and adding various other toppings such as Salsa and peppers. . You build it with your hands and eat it with your hands. No knives and forks needed!

Its a tomato based product with hot chillis added to it as well as other spices.

Old El Paso offer a whole variety of Mexican cook at home foods; they offer Dinner Kits for fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, tacos and nachos. Now there are two fajita flavours available to tantalise your taste-buds. Firstly there is the Original Smoky BBQ flavour which is absolutely delicious. It is also interesting that the Original seems ...

...kit, as I must admit Old El Paso DOES make for the right FLAVOUR! If you go to Somerfields however, you will find they have some rather generic looking tortillas there just labeled WRAPS that are VERY large, and quite flexible when trying to roll food into them. The company behind Old El Paso is General Mills who started life right back in the 1860's with a pair of flour mills on opposite banks of the Mississippi River.
General Mills in various forms, due to numerous merges have been behind great names such as Betty Crocker, The Pillsbury Doughboy, Wheaties, Bisquick among others. They also market brands like Haagen Dazs and Cheerios.

Flour Tortillas - pronounced tor-tee-yas comes from the Spanish word "torta" which means round cake. Spaniards gave the Tortillas this name when they discovered them in the 16th Century. Mexicans used Tortillas as bread to surround their chosen fillings. They can be frozen.

I am a huge fan of making things at home myself and I am always willing to give something a go so when I saw this on offer recently in my local Tesco I just had to have it! The box contains 8 soft flour tortillas, 144g of mild red salsa & 35g of original smoky BBQ fajita spice mix. The Old el Paso kit comes with everything you need apart from your meat of choice and vegetables, stated on the box is diced chicken or minced beef. To start of you should start to brown your meat (I use chicken mostly) in a pan. While the chicken is cooking you should chop and prepare your vegetables into slices, of which you can add as many or as few as you like. My preferred vegetables are yellow and orange peppers and onion. That’s the hardest part over! Once the chicken is cooked you the add the veg. After a few minutes its time to add the seasoning ...

Advantages: Does have a good recipe and offers convenience to the cook Disadvantages: Contents can be bought separately and only really accounts for a third of the overall ingredients
Old El Paso have made it easy to have a standard Mexican meal in the comfort of your home. This pack comes with the minimum required to have a dinner for two. The pack contains Tortillas which, whilst small, are nice tasting and remain fresh for a while. There is a nice spice mix and a salsa pack.
