The Greatest Club Ground In England

Advantages: Recent Improvements make Old Trafford the best league ground in the country
Disadvantages: Lack of atmosphere sometimes with so few away supporters allowed in

Old Trafford [Background: The home of Manchester United has recently undergone extensive improvments and can now boast a capacity of over 67,000, making it the largest football league ground in England] The content of this opinion may come as somewhat of a surprise to anyone who knows me personally, or more specifically anyone at all who knows where my footballing preferences lie. I am, and have always been, a fan of Burnley football club, but with ...
...supporter who has been to Old Trafford since the recent improvements have been completed. The first time that I visited Old Trafford in 1996, for the FA Cup semi-final match between Liverpool and Aston Villa, I could not fail to be impressed by the immense new three tier stand that had been built at the ground. In those days the capacity was around 55,000, making it by far the largest league ground in the country. Four years on I recently made another ...

Theatre of Dreams - Old Trafford

Advantages: The best team in the world, good facilities
Disadvantages: Expensive and busy

I have visited Old Trafford twice in 2 seasons now specifically for the United v City Derby. The ground has good transport links to Manchester via Tram, Bus, Car and "Football special" train. Initially I had some reservations about attending the ground for such a "hard fought" fixture, however the reception of fans and organisation was most excellent. I would recommend catching one of 3 special football trains from Manchester Piccadilly (on match ...
...minutes.... these trains are two commuter style trains that are joined together - arrive totally empty and can generally find space, with some standing, for everyone who is waiting. The train drops you off by the south Stand, which is not far from the away section, major entrances to stands and the club shop. Match days are very well policed, especially this fixture and there is no end of specific club officials in the area of the club shop with ...

Do any English people support Man Utd

Advantages: Lots of history for the die hard fans.
Disadvantages: Will make you a little bit jealous if you support one of the more struggling teams in the premiership.

...would write an oppinion on Old Trafford. Unfortunatley, one of my area meetings with work was held at Old Trafford, and as a "bonus", my firm decided to include a tour of the stadium! Now I will endeavour to try and not be biased all the way through this review. On approaching Old Trafford, I can only feel a little bit envious that Everton dont play at Old Trafford, It is awesome. Walking up to the stadium I can understand why all the best players ...
...Building I feel a little humble, but I also realise that this place I have just entered is basically a money making machine. Everywhere you turn, there is an advertisement for numerous different products, from soft drinks to media products and T.V. channels. Even the meeting that I was having would have cost the company at least a thousand pounds, I presume. 1. The Tour:- We were met by a very polite and loyal Man Utd tour guide. The first thing ...

Walking down the Warwick Road...

Advantages: Large capacity, great facilities, and some of the best fans in the country
Disadvantages: Ticket prices too high, and the glory supporters who ruin the image of the club and the atmosphere inside the ground

Old Trafford is england’s finest stadium, and one of the best in Europe. The capacity is 68,217, and with the reconstruction of the main stand to extend over the railway line, this will be pushed up above 82,500. From the outside it doesn’t compare with grounds in Italy and Spain. The United Road and Scoreboard Ends look classy with glass frontages, but the Stretford End and Main Stand are, at best, described as functional. However, inside, ...
...seating and viewing angles are. Old Trafford looks more impressive form inside or from the air than it does form outside, but it still isn’t as impressive as it was before the development of the United Road End when the stands were a complete ring all the way around the ground. Lack of money and problems with access will probably prevent the ‘bowl’ effect from being recreated. The main stand holding 10,000 seats is, ironically, ...

The prawns shall inherit the earth

Advantages: An open race for once
Disadvantages: They're still there

Old Trafford, home of the champions? Well, yes, until now, says Hot Footie Tipster in shock prediction that rocks the footballing world in stunning attempt to hijack a category and turn it to his advantage (cos how can you limit your United views to just the one?) Our correspondent writes.... It’s been quite an unusual season so far in that the accustomed storming away from the pack that we’re so used to see from Manchester United has simply not ...
...against less fancied opponents, the Old Trafford club have quietly and efficiently sneaked their way up into a top three spot behind Leeds And Arsenal. At the start of the season, the experts predicted that the arrival of the big money men, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Juan Sebastian Veron, would mark the ascent of United onto a whole new plain. Both the Argentinian and the Dutchmen have demonstrated their undoubted class and value and shown that they ...

Big, but not the best

Advantages: Huge, great atmosphere, comfy seats, safe
Disadvantages: Too clinical, expensive food, no big screens, Man Utd play there

...I have come to regard Old Trafford as the home of the Forces of Darkness rather than the Theatre of Dreams. I find the way in which Manchester United have dominated English football in recent years rather galling to say the least, and the arrogance of Ferguson in particular is enough to make me reach for the mute button when he appears on TV. However, the purpose of this review is not to bring up my personal feelings towards Manchester United, no ...
...that I have visited Old Trafford more times (once) than most Manchester United fans is obviously completely irrelevant as well. So, obligatory ManUre baiting out of the way, onto Old Trafford... My first visit to this undeniably impressive stadium was yesterday afternoon. As an Arsenal fan, I was lucky enough to secure a ticket to the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham. Quite frankly, I am still buzzing from the whole experience. The Stadium ...

THe THEATRE OF DREAMS

Advantages: Well laid out
Disadvantages: Not many that I can think of

Old trafford sometimes named the 'Theartre Of Dreams' named by Sir Bobby charlton is down the famous road in Manchester, Sir Matt Busby Way. Lately the stadium has had some additions, Old Trafford now has a 3rd tier and many more seats in the stadium increasing the crowd to up to 60 000 people now! ...anyone that has been to Old Trafford, either to watch the football or just to visit the awe-inspiring stadium, are never disapointed. I have only been there once (so far), even though I have been a Manchester United fan since I was a child, when the greats such as Bobby Charlton played for the team. ...Blanc is just too old and slow, sorry he just won’t doo. **MIDFIELD** Another excellent part of the team, a bit different to the defence, being that the Midfield aspects of the teams has been improving, mostly during this season. 5 star stadium

Advantages: Fantastic atmosphere
Disadvantages: none

Old Trafford is home to Manchester United, one of the best teams in the world. The capacity of the stadiums is about 76,000. It is has a 5 star UEFA rating (strict criteria, including security, TV facilities, pitch size, etc), just like Hampden Park and Ibrox stadium in Glasgow. This rating is the football equivalent of a 5 star rating for hotels. The facilities at Old Trafford are first class. The travel access is very good with rail access as ...
...normally when I go to Old Trafford, I only have to wait about 10 minutes. They have a good selection of savouries and drinks, but no scotch pies, which is a shame. The price of tickets can be a bit on the expensive side, going as high as £50, but if it is a big game, then I don't mind paying that much money. The atmosphere is normally good as well, with lots of singing and cheering, although the fans can be quick to turn and start booing when they ...

Old Trafford, The Museum and The Stadium tour

Advantages: everything is perfect, food facilities, very clean
Disadvantages: none

I visited Old Trafford when I have been to Manchester. I firstly visited the Museum, which is located in the stadium. It is just beside the Manchester supporters' famous café. When you first get in the museum (it is not big at all), you see the model of the stadium. In the next room, you'll see all the cups Manchester won. Especially last premiership cup was very elegant. Also there is a room in the museum, which you can see the 80-90 year old shoes, ...
...can watch the old matches. The thing I liked most in the museum was a device, which you can be commentator and tell the match. Firstly the real commentator shows you how to tell the match and gives you the player numbers and names. Afterwards you are telling match, and device is recording your voice with microphone. It is so funny to hear your own voice when watching match. In the other floor, there are signed pictures, uniforms and balls from famous ...

...proud), I'm pretty familiar with Old Trafford. But even I can recognise that in order to improve the atmosphere we need to allow in more away fans. We only allocate 4000 seats to away fans for Premiership matches and about 10000 for cup matches. Though a lot of this is to do with FA guidelines I am told. Tickets cost around £30 depending on your stand, and season tickets between £300 and £400, but the waiting list is that many years long now that, ...

But like I said, the waiting list is reeeeeeeally long! The Museum and Tour are fantastic, and great value too. For ...

The Biggest and Best Stadium in England

Advantages: Best Stadium in England
Disadvantages: Traffic after the game

...a season ticket holder at Old Trafford I have visited the place that many times I have lost count! The stadium is magnificent and anybody saying otherwise is merely jealous. The facilities in the stadium are first rate with Ladbrokes bookmakers, half time cash dash sellers for £2000 prize draw, drinks and foods outlets, male and female toilets, televisions every few metres showing Sky Sports. In addition there are many stewards only too willing ...

The visitors seating at Old Trafford is regarded as some of the best seats in the stadium with a superb elevated view. In addition the visitors section is just across the forecourt from the coach park and this saves walking! The only drawback I can think ...

Nearly at the top of the world

Advantages: Great place and booming atmosphere
Disadvantages: Bit pricey.

This stadium has been made into an amazing, gigantic place, where thousands of people can go and watch Manu beating other teams. The seating is as comfortable as seating goes in a stadium. The staff are brilliant, helpful and very friendly. There are loads of trips that let you go around the backstage area, and these are well worth a visit as you get to see all the bits back stage, but the best atmosphere is sitting there with a hotdog (what are ...

OLD TRAFFORD BACK IN THE 80s

Advantages: old trafford, retro, atmosphere
Disadvantages: half empty

...would not take us to Old Trafford because their was 5 of us and the taxis only took 4 passengers. So we had to catch a bus which passed OT and went down a side-street hence we passed the ground, the driver would not turn round so we had to run like the clappers to get to the ground for kick-off. We went into the seated area in the Stratford End (?), there was standing area below us, All i remember about the game was that Coventry won 1-0 and Bryan ...

After the game instead of leaving the ground we waited until the stands where virtually empty before moving towards the main stand so we could get a really good view of the stadium and even at that time the view was totally awesome. ...
