Advantages Advantages Such beautiful photos, easy to read instructions.

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit bulky and may be complicated for a novice.

I always spend money when I am feeling down! Last year we went on a lovely cruise for our 30th wedding anniversary but unfortunately I had a problem and was feeling pretty low when we docked at Gibraltar so went on a spending spree. Look what I bought for nearly three hundred pounds! And just to make sure you understand, I don't regret it a bit. A chunky, becautiful camera, with 4megapixels and slr capabilities. It has a zoom, it has so many settings that it took me almost a year to work some of them out. We went back to the ship, put the batteries on charge and while hubby dozed on his bunk I ... more

Advantages Advantages Great value for money

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor manual and software

I purchased my camera via the internet (£291) and got a great discount on high street prices, I saved about £60.00 so I would say trawl the internet first before buying in the high street. The camera is a 4-mega-pixel model and the photographs I have taken to date have been outstanding using the auto facility on the camera. The more experienced can find many features to tweak the photographs to get that professional look. The one feature I found really interesting was the super macro mode, which lets you focus down to 2cm from the lens and gives some stunning close ups. The photos load on to ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Value, Loads of Features, Good Quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes Smart media. Compact flash or MMC better

This is a great value little camera with a ton of features. At first the menus can be a bit confusing but you get to grips with them quite quickly. The camera has many features you would not expect on a camera of this price such as iESP and spot metering and also spot and multi segment auto focus. The super macro function is also very good allowing you to get shots from a distance of 2cm with good DOF. The picture quality is excellent and you have loads of choices about the quality you want and the aspect ratio you want the pictures. You also have the option to save as a TIFF to avoid quality ... more

Advantages Advantages Good quality, easy to use, more advanced features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Viewfinder not accurate

This camera, while hailed as a great value for the hobbyist photographer, is even perfect for those who know nothing about what they are doing. Being my first digital camera, I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of using it. For those who are technically inept, one can simply turn the camera on and take quality pictures from the default settings. However, for those who know a bit about what they're doing or are willing to read the instructions, one can save settings (picture quality, self-portrait/landscape/motion, flash, etc), record short movies, and enjoy the many other technical aspects ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent quality, manual control

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Smartmedia memory

Bought to replace my 2Mp Olympus and not regretted it. I was attracted by the 4Mp and even more by the ability to set it manually (in the end usually use auto!). Picture quality has been excellent even when using a high compression to save storage. I find it very easy to use and prefer the extra weight. I found the much lighter 2Mp more prone to a bit of shake. The majpr disadvantage is the use of Smartmedia storage. A real pain as the largest is a mere 128Mb. So I have several. Unlike the other reviewer I always erase my cards using the computer and have bever had a problem. Most digital ... more

    Advantages Advantages Quality Product

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit Quirky!

I purchased the camera for £231 fron the Digital Camers Company Jan2004 and they proved to be an excellent Company to deal with, arrived on time and they were most helpful. The camera is chunky and has a nice feel about it and is easy to hold steady. I have used it for mostly family and sailing trips and the results are excellent. Still get red eye indoors though so need to read insructions again. The instructions are very poor ,technically good but difficult to read and understand.I like bigger print as age is catching up! The zoom is noisy and remember to take lens hood off ! Battery life is ... more

Advantages Advantages Great clarity, ease of use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite large now compared to new ones, battery life

I found myself relying on a websites review on this camera and perhaps you will do the same. I am very pleased with the camera over all but would like to point out a couple of things that will help you make your decision. If you down load your pictures to your PC/laptop NEVER erase/format the disc by the computer as the card will error once you put it back in the camera. I am not sure on the techy reason for this but it took me 4 days to get it sorted! I found a very helpful person in Jessops who was familiar with the problem. She put the memory card into another camera (Cannon) not sure if it ... more

Advantages Advantages Great for close ups and eBay

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be quite complicated to use.

I purchased this camera for taking photos on items that I sell on the ebay site. It is perfect for close ups for capturing important detail, especially for coins and jewellery. There is a supermacro function as well as the basic macro where you can take photos from as close as 2cm, and hardly any cameras in this price range can do this. Also you have the 2 in 1 shot, where you take 2 shots and the camera immediately converts this to one picture. This is great if you need to show front and back of your subject, or different angles, conveniently in one picture. There is also a movie mode, which ... more
