...went out and bought an Olympus Camedia digital camera – which was probably the first digital camera that Olympus ever made. That sturdy old workhorse is still in use today (by me, mostly – isn't he nice?). In fact, there was only one reason that he decided to buy something else – the old one was eating up batteries, both regular and rechargeable ones. So, he went out and bought the (then) top of the line Olympus – the C-50 zoom. Let me tell you a ... ...noticed that with the old Olympus camera, if you don't hold it really still, you'll get very blurry pictures. The C-50 however isn't as sensitive and seems to take more focused pictures in similar conditions. For instance, my boss let me use both cameras for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah party and the ones from the old camera came out mostly blurred, while those on the C-50 were much better – even when they were handled by the same person.
So the question ...

Advantages: Easy to use, compact, durable Disadvantages: You have to close the shutter to view pictures
I am a complete amateur photographer who is always seeking the perfect photograph, and after many years of trying different cameras (both 35mm & digital) I think I have found perfection.
This snappy little camera is very easy to use, it has the capability to point and shoot but has the features available if you want to be a little more adventurous.

I don't very often actually print in bulk the pictures that I take but instead use them as my screen saver, so that I can look at them over and over again. I have just got back from my holiday and decided that I would print off 50 pictures this time to show family and friends. I received nothing but praise re the quality of the photographs and was asked by several people what ...

Advantages: Good quality photos and very easy to use for beginners Disadvantages: Few irritating factors like closing the lens to view what you have taken
This was my first digital camera and it proved to be a good buy!
The advantages are:
1) The camera offers a wide range of different environment settings on the back which can be quickly accessed via turning the wheel. Quicker than having to manually scroll through them on a screen.
2)Top quality photos even if you are a beginner (like me) but also offers more advanced settings for more advanced users to set up themselves. The auto setting automatically ... ...make the camera very easy to use providing good quality prints!
The drawbacks I have found from my own personal experience are:
1) The video does not record sound, just the picture. It also only allows you to record for 16 seconds no matter how much memory you have left.
2) Once you have taken a photo, it is displayed on the screen for a couple of seconds before going back to the view of the lens. If you want to take another look, you have to ...

...XD. I believe Fuji and Olympus developed the technology together and at present these are the only two manufacturers who produce both cameras that use the card and indeed manufacture the card. the cards are very small about the same size of a British postage stamp and about 1mm thick.
There is also a movie function, allowing short movies to be taken for e-mails etc. It supports Quicktime and JPEG. No sound though which is the only downside.

The size of the camera is a factor which should be taken into account. The C50 is samll!! This is fine by me but if you are use to a typical 35mm camera I would suggest going into a shop and handling this camera before you but it on the internet.
It is my opinion that this camera is unusual in that it ...

...My brother had purchased an olympus u400 and that took exceptional pictures and this camera is no different. With 5 megapixel in super high quality mode the detail is excellent. Advantages: The quality of the photos taken Disadvantages: The shutter can be accidently closed
i bought this camera a week ago, it is my first good quality digital camera i have bought.
5.1 megapixles, big LCD screen and top quality photos.
I recieved it and was amazingly easy to set up. It is simple to understand and easy to use. The picture viewer is of the highest standard.
It is also even better when you put them onto a pc, the quality then is superb and the prints are great aswel.
The wide range of picture modes means that is is a ... ...focus, background blur. \it goes on.
It does also take video clips which is a great bonus and the lengh of them depends on the size of the card. The mamory card is tiny and hold alot of photos of the highest quality.
The only downside is that the shutter is quite easy to close and can therefore be closed accidently when in use. However it is easy to get use to this so it does not matter atall.
The camera is a great choicde for any one and it supplies ...

We bought the camera for photographing items to sell on ebay and we havent been disappointed. Even though the standard package (more on this later) only supplies a 32mb XD card we have found that the photo quality is so good on the bottom 2 quality settings that we can still get appx 200 photos on the card.
A lot of our photos are close ups and the macro mode is excellent at picking out the detail required for our ebay listings.

Advantages: Brilliant Photo Quality Disadvantages: Poorly made shutter
This is a brilliant camera, i brought mine when they were £300+ and i am still excited by it, the pictures are great, the screen does the job and the operation is generally easy and simple. Other than that this is a great camera which i would still recomend, especially for the money you can get it for now. ...

finally olympus have got rid of smartmedia. Smartmedia cards were the first compact storage cards but they have fallen to the likes of compact flash and IBM microdrives and not forgeting the XD range. i love the new camera from olympus for two reasons, the first reason is how easy and stright foward the camera is to use and also its new storage at the moment you can get 128mb cards but in the not to far away future 8gb cards will be on the market ... ...take on holiday, it hasnt got to be setup every time you use it and you don't need a fork lift to carry it around. The style of the camera is a brushed metal affect different to the usual plain designs. the software is good and transfer of pictures to your pc is quick and easy.
