Advantages: Great picture quality, SLR features Disadvantages: A little heavy - can't interchange lenses
I have had my E20 for 14 months now, and love it. I amd delighted by the high quality of the pictures and the simplicity of use. This is very important when my wife and somn want to take a 'snapshot' with me in it.
I bought the camera after having used several other digi-cams before, and was delighted at its flexibiliity. The options to set aperture and shutter speed, in addition to bulb setting, external flash and a whole host of other features, ... ...afford to make it to the true SLR dgi-cam (like me).
Accessories can seem a little expensive (e.g. dedicated flash, cabled remote release), but they are solid and well built and will provide years of service.
I cannot comment on the after sales service (thankfully).
There are some comments on the web, about the effectiveness of the auto-focus. I have never had a problem with this, and can't help wondering if it is a 'camera shake' problem instead.

Advantages: High quality pictures Disadvantages: slow turn on time and slow processing time
I have now owned my Olympus E20P for almost 3 years and have used it in extremely harsh conditions including several desert expeditions and diving trips. It has not let me down once and produces very high quality images. I rarely use the highest quality setting of "Tiff" as I can see little difference in the image quality from using the "SHQ" setting. I have used both a 1Gb microdrive and a 512 Kb card, I now stick to the 512 card as it used less ... ...angle and telephoto screw on lens which, despite my initial doubts about screw ons, produce excellent images.
You should always take spare batteries - I use 2300 mAh Ni-MH batteries from Jessops as they last longer and are easy to charge.
My only complaints with the camera are that it takes a long time to switch on - about 10 seconds and after taking 5 pictures in rapid succession you have to wait about 15 seconds before you can take any more. ...

Advantages: Very good pics, clarity great, qulaity fantastic Disadvantages: very big and heavy
I have always loved taking photos, maybe too many of the kids so I am told.
I had a Sony 4 million pix but fancied something a bit more professional I chose this, I bought last year and found that it had so many features I was quite lost with shutter speed and aperture settings, I took this camera to both Egypt and Maldives with a 1gb microdrive which stores 256 approx photos, I found the quality was amazing, it seemed to sometimes get a bit smudgy ... ...Another slight drawback is it takes a few seconds to process the last photo before you can snap again.
The photo software is not all that as I would expect for a camera that I paid £1500 when it came out, I know it is cheaper now, the accessories are very expensive and not a lot of choice but all in all I love the camera and was well worth the moment.
You must use it with a 1gb microdrive for photo capacity, www.megapixels.com do the cheapest microdrive ...

Advantages: Well proportioned, 5 megapixels Disadvantages: Quite heavy, Some delay between shots
I have found the Olympus E20-p to be a well proportioned camera with all of the functions normally found on a 35mm SLR, plus a few more.
The camera holds up to 1GB on board memory, taking both Smart Media, Compact Flash and Microdrive, and with the 5 megapixel running at the highest resolution you appreciate all that space.
The camera has various buttons about its body to access most of the picture controlls, although some can be a bit fiddly as ... ...of the camera. The LCD screen is well proportioned and swivels through 90º for top down viewing.
The camera has a shutter speed of Bulb up to an impressive 1:18,000 second and apertures of up to F11. In burst mode it will take 4 pictures in just under 2 seconds and will also allow you to auto bracket exposures for greater exposure control. ...

Advantages: No more waiting for the films to be devolped Disadvantages: Long time writing to memory
...looked at several cameras the Olympus E20 caught my eye. Reading Olympus's own reviews, I tested one for myself. And the end result was, I bought one. It does everything I want to do, from portraits to close-up work, the end results are fantastic and the printouts are as good as the bought ones. Going to a wedding recently, I asked the vicar if he would mind me taking a few shots during the service. At first he was a bit hestitant about the noise ...
