Advantages: excellent lens, good range of features, large (2.5") LCD screen Disadvantages: No viewfinder, small buttons, not great for contrajour shots
I've always been an Olympus camera fan, and have bought quite a few of them over the years - not because they're unreliable and need constant replacing, but because technology moves on and I don't like to get left behind! My last Olympus digital camera was only 2 megapixels (virtually top of the range when I bought it), so was due a well-deserved retirement. I settled on the Olympus mju digital 600 to replace it, and overall I've been fairly happy ... ...to upgrade from an earlier Olympus - the mju 600 takes an XD card, so you may not be able to use your old memory cards. And if you're buying a new card, make sure you buy genuine Olympus cards if you intend to use the camera's "panorama" function (it doesn't work with other cards).
What about the specification? Well, the mju 600 offers :-
6.0 megapixels ;
a 2.5" (or 6.4cm) full colour LCD screen - that's big for a very compact camera which only ...

Advantages: Strong, Tough, Good Shots and Awesome Design Disadvantages: Slow Autofocus/Shutter Speed, Wont survive being buried on a beach too well.
Awesome little snapper for those times and places when a big or bulky camera will just take up too much room or get smashed into tiny little expensive pieces!
The best thing is the rugged construction and strong lens cover that slides into place when it turns off, it means that it really can live up to its tag as being weather resistant and strong. It has a good array of shooting modes including sports mode, landscape, portrait and many more. It ... ...slow but on the whole works a charm.
It does not have the 10+ megapixels that seem to be sought after in all cameras now but unless you are going to print your photos in A0 and plaster a wall with it then it will produce stunning shots that look as good as many more expensive and feature jammed cameras!
It has an optical zoom, this is important as digital zoom is as useful as a chocolate teapot without a tripod and awesome processor built in, not ...

The olympus DIGITAL 600, which, as you might gather from the latter part of the name, offers you a healthy six megapixels of image snapping capability.
For those of you fed up with silver digital cameras, you may be pleased to know that the mju DIGITAL 600 comes in (navy) blue and (ruby) red as well as (Arctic) silver. However, you are probably going to want to chose your camera on the basis of more than just its colour...
The first thing of note ... ...its massive LCD screen. The specifications rate it at measuring 6.4cm across the diagonal, though in fact the viewing area is closer to 6cm. This is still a whole lot more than we are used to in a digital camera, and it makes framing shots a dream.
There are two elements of bad news though: the LCD takes up almost all of the space on the back of the camera, leaving no room for an optical viewfinder, and the control buttons have a relatively small ...

...am a firm believer that Olympus are probably still the best photographic device manufacturers around. They provide good, reliable products, at competitive prices and offer excellent support and other services. So Olympus cameras were my first port of call.

Advantages: easy to use, weatherproof, good-looking. Disadvantages: small buttons, no case.
I bought an Olympus Mju 600 as a wedding gift for my husband, whose last camera got squished by a car, and i knew i needed to get something good to replace what he'd lost. Bearing in mind i'm not very technical, i thought i'd better do a bit of research, and everywhere i went they advised me that this one was one of the better cameras to go for. Easy-to-use, 6 million pixels and a great price - excellent value for money.
It's a very nice-looking ... ...what else could i want) and the on/off noise is satisfyingly clicky like an old fashioned film camera - giving it a little more soul than most of these digital things. The big screen at the back makes framing and setting up shots really easy, and the weatherproof shell came in very useful for our October honeymoon in the Lake District!
It's got loads of different settings, for portraits, landscapes, night shots etc, but my favourite is the "reducing ...

Advantages: nice big lcd on the back Disadvantages: too many settings for first user
Bought this Camera for my new girlfriend last Xmas from Jessops, (around £250) and was very happy that I did. the major improvement compared to her last digital camera (a canon) was a nice big 2.5 inch large lcd screen and how economical the camera is on battery power. (rechargeables)
Other nice little touches include the way you don't have to turn on the cameras power (the little button on the top that switches on the focussing unit)to view pictures, ... ...the screen. The only problems i could find when i was using the camera was the auto function does not always give the best picture quality, sometimes you are better not using a flash. but when you scroll through the menu, it doesn't show you what your picture would look like without the flash, just the name of the setting and description(like Fireworks with a little picture of fireworks plus a brief description of what it is suitable for. 'suitable ...

Advantages: great pictures every time Disadvantages: no video!
I bough this carema about a year ago as it was the best quality we could find for the lowest price- 6 mega pixels - right now Amazon have got it for 174.0 GBP.
It takes really high quality pictures, the zoom is easy to use and the picture options and functions are great -I don't even know how to use them all yet. It does also take short videos although the is no mic which means videos are silent. I'm told there is a reason for this in photography ... ...use it to take videos epecially as it already does it just without sound.
Downloading onto the computer couldn't be easier. I'm no expert and this was the first time for me using this kind of software and I had no problems. The software is included and you just stick it in the machine and follow the instrutions, and when you want to upload pictures you plug in the included ubs and away you go. It really does take minutes. Acutally we have also bought ...

Advantages: Large LCD making it easy to frame the shot and view the pictures you've taken. Disadvantages: A couple of features don't quite (yet) make sense to a beginner like me!
...start!) So the Olympus mju (how do you get that funny little letter on a standard keyboard?) is available in three colours, red, navy and silver and although the picture here is silver, mine is a dark red colour which looks good and is also unusual. It has 6 megapixels, most other cameras around the same price seemed to be 5 MP, and other techinal stuff thus:
****6.0 million pixels BrightCapture Technology 6.4cm / 2.5 LCD Weatherproof* metal body ... ...creative effects Supplied with Olympus Master Software **** It took a bit of experimenting to figure out some of the settings and different camera modes, but is basically easy to use a little confusion over some of the features has not stopped me making good use of the camera and you exoect to have a bit to learn with something new. Friends in Japan were, satisfyingly, impressed with the design and LCD size, which suggests it is up to the minute ...
