    I'm quite a picky one when it comes to buying expensive items of kit. I want a lot for my money! I had been using my casio digital camera for the past five years so I was well past an update - it was only 3.2 mega pixels, my daughters phone is double that now! Anyway the rechargeable battery was no longer holding its charge so it was time for an upgrade.     If you like digital camera's are into taking shots while on the move then the Olympus µ [mju:] 1030 SW is right up your alley. This new addition to the Olympus family is made specifically for the adventurer offering protection from water, and extreme weather conditions in addition to being extra tough it is also able to stand being dropped .     I am planning to do some touring on my cycle and required a camera that not only was lightweight and weather-proof but also took reasonable quality photos. I used to take a Leica M4-P with a Summilux 35mm lens on such journeys It requires no batteries and has been submerged in puddles more than once and survived. However the cost of roll film is now a becoming drawback.     At first when i got this camera I loved it, it takes really good clear photographs, and in water too, I got some really cool shots in my swimming pool.. HOWEVER the battery cover somehow opened and water got inside and all of a sudden that was it. Never worked again, and before you think, it was carelessness, it was not, I was very careful and at the end of the day it’s meant to be an active sporty camera. So anyway cut a long story short, i sent it back to get repaired as i had a guarantee. However the result came back telling me 'it was due to my carelessness' and they would not repair the ... more

    I love photography and known to friends as expert photographer. I have been using this camera for almost 1 year. I am satisfied of this product since this is one of a kind camera [pocket] that easily dive in water... this is amazing. I have been very careful with my other camera since i am worried that it drop and got sprinkled with water when my kids are playing with it. With this product, my kids realize that i have been kind lately since i didn't comment anything when they played with it, since its drop and water proof.     Advantages Advantages nice pic n many mode to choose fr....take excellence macro shot

    Disadvantages Disadvantages not water proof,not every part of de body stainless steel and can't take nice night mode shots

    I really love this camera at first until the water enters it through the battery cover last weekend. My hubby and I love beaches and will at least go snorkeling once a year. By coincident Olympus was my friend company client and able to get a discount. She asking me whether wants to buy and of course I like to. I bought the camera March 2008 and start using it.
