Advantages: Does everything I need it to, small, great pictures Disadvantages: Better technology out now but this one is great for what I need so none really!
I bought this camera a couple of years ago now and while technology has moved on and has made this nowhere near as good as some of the other cameras available on the market now, it has made it more affordable as prices have come down and it is still really good for me and does everything I want it to! It would be a perfect camera for somebody who doesn't know much about photography as it is so easy to use and understand and isn't too sophisticated ... ...as 4 megapixels. This relates to the quality of images you can take - the higher the number of megapixels the better it is if you want to enlarge the photo. With 4 megapixels I take photos on "High quality" which is the 2nd best below "Superior High Quality" and I have blown these up to A4 with no problems and the pictures look really good and not grainy at all. I would say you could probably go upto A3 size on Superior Quality without losing quality ...

Advantages: Excellent Quality Images, Easy to Use, Weatherproof Disadvantages: No audio with video, comes with small memory card, soft case
I originally bought this Olympus µ[MJU:] 400 in Malaysia (after dropping my previous camera in the sea!) - I have now owned it for two years and it is still as good as the day I bought it.
Main Features:
4 Mega Pixels
3x Optical Zoom, 4x Digital Zoom
Weatherproof Body
Solid Metal Construction
Macro Setting (for close up shots)
4 Flash Modes
5 Photo Settings
Movie Recording (sadly no sound)
1.5" LCD Screen

I then bought a spare battery (Ł25) so that I never run out of power - I would advise anyone looking to buy a digital camera to check the price of spare batteries as it makes a world of difference if you aren't able to get to mains electric ...

Advantages: Compact, Lightweight, Stylish and 4.0 megapixels means you can print up to A3, still with a high quality printout. Disadvantages: No protective case included and the larger xD-Picture Cards are highly priced.
...Then I spotted it, the Olympus u [MJU:] 400 Digital Camera. It was excellent. I liked the look of it as, it was compact and in a tough, hard looking metal case, which meant if I dropped it, it wouldn't break easily. When the staff handed it to me, I couldn't believe how stylish it looked in the polished silver case, plus it was of a small shape and light weight. So, therefore it isn't clumsy. It included a lens cap built into the main case, which meant you wouldn't need to put it in your pocket to get dirty or put it down and lose it. This is a bit of a problem; as if you close it quick you can trap the lens. When I asked the staff for some extra information they told me: 1) You could create short movies with an easy playback, however there is no sound.
2) You could quick view all the images stored on the ...

In my opinion the Olympus µ[MJU:] 400 is a fantastic little camera, and just because it's small doesn't mean it isn't packed with features.
I bought this when I was looking for a small camera to carry around while on my hols. I’ve had an Olympus MJU 35mm camera for years and it’s never let me down so this was the obvious choice when I wanted to go digital. And finally, the price…. most of the high-street shops were selling this for Ł350+ but a bit of searching on the internet and I found Amazon, Dixons and PC World all selling it for Ł260 and at that price you really can’t go wrong.
Other little extras make this a great package… ...

...my beady eyes on an Olympus 350 which was on special offer at my local Dixons (a couple of months ago now)
For the purposes of continuing research I had a look at a couple of other makes and models and surprise surprise the canny salesman shoved an Olympus mju 400 under my nose – 1st impression, I had to have one. These are the major features that sold it to me:

For the techies among you, it's a 4 megapixel camera with a combination digital / analogue zoom and XD memory card and a lithium battery
One feature I really like compared to other cameras I looked at is the side door which hides and protects the memory card (XD type) the video out and USB ports. That keeps the outer appearance tidy and they won't get damaged.
The supplied memory on the basic model is 16mb, enough for ...

Advantages: Size, good results - Digital! Disadvantages: Shutter lag
This is an excellent camera which I would recommend without hesitation, if it had not been superceded by the MJU410 which adds sound recording!
This is a fantastic camera. It fits in a pocket and achieves fantastic results - Lord Litchfield swears by this particular model. it just slips in a pocket so easily. I have even used it for work because it is so handy.

But without doubt this is one of the best buys I have made in recent years. A fantastic little camera. ...

The Olympus µ[MJU:] 400 Digital is 9.9cm x 3.4cm x 5.6 cm and weighs 165g.

...for a mere $259, the Olympus Digital Stylus 400 was the best 4 megapixel camera I was going to get. Guess what? It definitely is. This camera has exceeded my expectations in every way possible. Unlike some cameras, the Olympus has a minimal loading time, and can wipe hundreds of photographs from the XD (memory) card in around a second. the 4 megapixel Olympus a generaly nice camera. the water-resistance factor has come in handy rather often, as i have had to rinse off various viscous fluids from the camera. the LCD is nice and big and the combination of optical and digital zoom, though not prefect, are quite good. it is an upgrade from the 3.2 megapixel version, so that one can now stretch the images as large as a 23" screen and not lose any quality. this means that you can view ... ...the cables provided). i do not really see the difference between this stylus 400 model and stylus 410, so i would recommend just buying this stylus 400, because it is resonably cheaper and the golden color of the stylus 410 model (i think) is rather ugly. i took one of these babies on a 23 day canoe trip in canada where i proceeded to drop it both on rocks and in the water multiple times. all that it seemed to get was a few dings. the water-resistance ...

I recently bought an Olympus Mju 400 after testing and researching a whole range of 4MP digital cameras.
There were a few factors that made me choose this camera of some of the others:
1) It was slightly cheaper than other cameras in it's category
2) It was small, compact, weatherproof and rugged.
3) The picture quality is excellent, with very sharp pictures and magnificent colour range (see: http://www.travel-itis.com, my personal travelogue ... ...is intended as a travel camera, it needed to be small and light, easily kept in a pocket and be able to withstand the odd bump and knock.
The one element which disappointed me with the camera, was the quality of the zoom. Zoomed pictures appear slightly blurry (especially with the digital zoom). And low-light pictures seem to confuse the camera. Either an in-fill flash renders the background v. dark or the very long exposures require a tripod or ...

Although I have only had the camera a few days I'm really pleased with it. The metal body makes it feel and look so much better than other cameras I tried. This is no doubt a great camera, although now it is not the most compact or the most flash.
