Advantages: Very cheap international phone rates Disadvantages: There are none
...Until I found OneTel!
OneTel is simple to use. Once you register your telephone number with them, they issue you a 4 digit code to dial before you enter the phone number that you want to ring. That's it! Easy as that! I never have problems accessing and rarely have problems with OneTel having busy circuits. I can talk as long as I want to my family in the states, for nearly as cheap as I can to people in this country. Sometimes cheaper! TRUE!! A ... ...and on.
In addition, OneTel offers you a Home and Away Card. This card allows you to make calls from any UK phone, as well as from 40 countries around the world. The calls are billed to your normal OneTel bill. You can have as many cards as you like, so if you have kids who are away at school, they can keep in close touch. There are instructions that come with your card, telling you access numbers, pin numbers and dialling instructions. There are ...

Advantages: Very Cheap calls if you choose the right package. Disadvantages: None that I have come across.
Hi....I was looking avidly for a landline service that would help me out as I needed to make calls to the USA. I needed something that wouldnt be expensive and that I didnt need to use any coded numbers either. So ease of use was a factor for me. I had checked out several of them and found that One.Tel offered the best value. The site was easy to navigate and it gave you quite a lot of options to choose from. Lots of combo packages to cover your ... ...that, it even gave you a Q and A sequence to help you find the right package for 'you'. This I found to be most helpful because when you first check a site out there is so much information to take in you dont always make the right choices. For me it was simple, I wanted cheap International calls and I had found what I was looking for. Up until now I had been using either calling cards or my mobile phone which strangley enough gave me ease of use, ...

Advantages: Cheaper international calls, fixed rate 1p per min internet access Disadvantages: None
OneTel is a great company that gives you very good rates on national and international calls made from the UK and also the option of an Internet connection that costs no more then one penny per minute at ALL times. This is very good value for those that want to surf at odd times during the day but don’t want to have to pay through the nose for an unlimited use package with another ISP.
If you sign up for the cheap national/international calls ... ...as you would from home. OneTel also promise to make the service available to you within 24 hours of registering. You can also register over the telephone if you prefer by leaving your details at the site which will prompt a customer service rep to call you back to set up your account, but you’ll miss out on the £2 calling credit if you register this way. Your welcome pack is then forwarded to you by post.
To take advantage of the reduced cost ...

...problems. I signed up with Onetel for 512kb/s at £23.99 a month. It seemed a good deal at the time.
Tiscali told me they would cut off their service on August 16th so I signed up a few days before to Onetel. A few days later Onetel called me to say there was another service on the line and to wait intill the line was clear.
On August 20th I called them back because I called BT 150 and they confirmed the line was clear. A few weeks passed and I ... ...call they confirmed my postcode. Onetel had the same postcode. I called Onetel back and they said they would resend the order.
10-14 days later and not a sound from them. So yet again I called them up and surprise surprise it was... a postcode problem. They asked me another time to confirm the postcode and it was correct. They then asked my other details and they were also correct so they resent the order for the second time.

...been a customer of the OneTel discounted phone service for over a year in Ruislip, before moving down to Sussex two months ago. I'd always found their voice service so much cheaper, and liked the idea of "soft" copies of my monthly bills.
After moving down to West Sussex, I enquired if I could continue with the service, which was accessed through a "smartbox", which meant not having to dial a four-digit access code as used to be the case. The customer ... ...that I temporarily lost my OneTel service. After I phoned up the Customer Services Dept., I was told that if I paid some money before my direct debit was due in five days, (I paid in full), then I would be offered the new ISP service for just £12.99 per month, with no further charges (dials an 0808 number), so no more massive phone bills!

Advantages: Cheap International Calls, Free UK calls Disadvantages: ISP service getting slower
...offers has improved. Onetel now offer a whole range of services for keeping in touch, including mobiles, ISP service and calling cards for when your away from home. I'll take each one on it's own merits.
The phone service has been excellent for me, and in terms of service Onetel has lived up to all it's promises. You still pay your line rental to BT and then have a variety of methods for routing your phone calls through them, pretty much as all ... ...You do pay monthly with Onetel though, as opposed to quarterly.
You can still use BT services such as 1471, caller display, call back etc, but you probably won't want to use BT's directory enquireies, because Onetel offer one that's free - and it works, unlike some others I could mention who just give you the number for Pizza Hut!!
The ISP service I've been a little dissappointed with recently. They've changed their connection number (and presumably ...

If there is still anyoneout there using B.T`s exhorbitant rates to ring around the world I suggest that they either have their head examined OR sign up asap to "onetel".
We`ve been using them for over four years since they started and it must have saved us thousands of pounds in calls to various parts of the world.

All these rates are 24 hours a day including VAT!The rates to other family in the rest of the world are all far lower than any rate B.T. can offer as well.

Advantages: Cheap calls Disadvantages: Unhelpful customer support, seem to be incapable of taking and modyfying details.
I decided to sign-up with OneTel for two reasons. The first and foremost one was to get internet access for 1p per minute which they where offering at the time and the second was to be able call a couple of friends who were living abroad at the time. The service I received at the time was less than helpful
When I signed up for the internet service I was told there would be a 4 hour delay as they would need to update their access files, but the guy ... ...and password. I rang OneTel to see if there was a problem and they took my details and said that there was no problem, but to wait another 4 hours just to be sure. I decided to wait overnight and tried to access the next morning once again with the same problem.
Once again I rang OneTel who told me this time to call the customer support on a premium rate number. I was reluctant to do this as I didn't really need support, but for them to activate ...

...I received an email from OneTel informing me of a dial-up number change as part of their super duper new improvements to cope with their increase in customers. I duly changed my dialup number as instructed and since then the service has been very poor. Attempts to connect are met with an engaged tone and once eventually connected I'm getting disconnected every 10 mins or so sometimes. Connection speed is poor and bandwidth seems strangled by bottle-necks ... ...poor. I needed to phone OneTel with a problem about my webspace, as their website didn't provide adequate information. I wasted a whole afternoon 'on hold' waiting to speak to somebody. I eventually gave up and emailed them, and received a standard email reply directing me to the website the next day.
I'm very disappointed in OneTel now and feel I can't recommend them any longer. It's a shame, it was good while it lasted. ...

...automatically signed up for the OneTel cheap-rate telephone service. You dial an access code over your BT or cable phoneline and can then make significant savings on international and some long-distance calls. The best thing about One-Tel’s internet access is it always costs 1p per minute even at peak rate. This is around a quarter of the cost of a local rate BT peak call. There’s no signup fee, no service charge and no obligation to use it. You dial up through a free phone number and One-Tel bill you. If you don’t use the service you will just get a blank bill as long as you pay by direct debit, otherwise there’s a £1 administration charge monthly. So ... ...nearly every time and it’s quite fast. Other services include cheap International phone calls and UK national calls costing 2.5p per minute at all times. All services are available through cable lines too. The amazing thing is the normal One-Tel rates are also available ...
