I was ORANGE and now I am BLUE...

Advantages: Variety of tariffs - inc.unlimited free off-peak calls (Free Time), Free Voice mail retrieval, free itemised billing
Disadvantages: Customer services could be improved slightly, extra £1 charge if you don’t pay by Direct Debit

One 2 One is one of the 4 major mobile networks in the UK other than Vodafone (the first mobile network set up in UK!), BT Cellnet (which includes genie; the mobile internet service) and Orange (the most popular network!) and of course Virgin Mobile which operates off One 2 One. So which one do you choose? Well, as always a good place to start is at Ciao a highly useful resource for the consumer; and looking at the current quantity of opinions; the ...
...place are BT cellnet and One 2 One. Choosing a network can depend on many factors such as: 1) UK coverage 2) call quality 3) tariff plans, 4) or even down to what handsets are available on the network. I had been an Orange customer for 3 years and had received an excellent service and always had superb call quality, so you may be asking why did I change to One2One? The reason I changed was because I wanted to replace my mobile phone and keep ...

Advantages: Excellent Customer Service, Good value
Disadvantages: Network coverage still improving

...in fact there is only one pub I regularly go where I cannot get a signal so what more could I ask for lol. The customer service has been of an extremely high standard throughout the three years. I initially had some billing problems when I first signed up, but when I rang to sort it out the customer service rep was extremely helpful, evening crediting my account because of the inconvenience so I actually ended up better off as a result. one2one - a historian's opinion

Advantages: Free Calls, Cheap Tariffs, Free Voicemail
Disadvantages: Network Infrastructure, Limited Handsets, Customer Service

...of another contract year with One 2 One so I thought it was time to write my thoughts about this much-unloved network. One2One? OK so I know most people have a nickname for 121 such as One2NoOne and it is not the most popular network here at Ciao but I’m still willing to give them my money. If you don’t mind reading some mobile phone history, read on. But beware this is a long read! One2One started life way back in the early 90’s ...
...networks have tried to compete. One of one2one big pluses is the fact that all voicemail retrieval is free unlike all the other networks, which charge. They were the only network to allow you to dial 0800 and other freephone numbers for free anytime of the day but have recently scrapped this much to the anger of most of its customers including me. The current tariffs include Everyone 100, which includes 100 minutes to call any landline or mobile ...

ONE2ONE ONE4YOU

Advantages: Good value calls, good customer service, some good handsets
Disadvantages: Poor WAP, below average network

One2One was, at the start of last year, the network to be with. They were better than the competition in terms of call prices and in terms of the range of PAYG phones available- however, they are currently struggling to keep their edge… The basic concept: 30ppm for 1st 2 min/day 5ppm thereafter These call prices are still quite low, especially if you use you phone a lot during peak periods. They also are a lot simpler to understand that BT Cellnet's ...
...dated in our 24 hour society, so 121's price plan is a breath of fresh air. Vodafone's SmartStep, which followed in the steps of 121 is based on a similar concept, but you do have to give 121 the credit for being the first (except for Virgin- but lets ignore them for now, they basically are One2One anyway). I think Orange also now have a similar price plan called ‘Just Talk Plus’, but I could be wrong… Therefore, for this I would give 121 full marks ...

ONE TO NO ONE Phones are Great unlike the Network

Advantages: Free voicemail
Disadvantages: Bad coverage, Cant text abroad, receving text messages took me 26 hrs

...have just finished speaking to One to One on the phone and just had to let you know how utterly useless I find the network is in the East Sussex area. Firstly let me state the 3210 i have is great it is the state of the network that i am writing about. I have been with One2one for about 6 months on their pay as you go Standard Tariff. Out of all the plans I have tried the standard plan is the most reasonable and requires no service credit and you ...

Advantages: Good tariff rates! Variety of featurse!
Disadvantages: Poor reception! Customer service not very good!

...one2one have given the public one of their best tricks yet, surely this was done unintentioanlly. This trick allows you to send free voicemail messages to your fellow one2one users. Although one2one have locked down on this now, it ran for a good 3 months or so. It is like calling somebody, but without paying no moey or using ur credit. start with +44 and then key in the following details. Then you put the person's voicemail code next to the +44. ...

If my number was 07932 879 158, and my voicemail code was 051 the number will look exactly like this: - +440517932879158. Depending on what mobile phone you are using the symbol for + will be *(x2) on a Nokia phone. The next stage of the process is inputting the P sign to the number followed by the person you are wishing to voicemails number also without ...

Zaphod sez - Popular, and good service.

Advantages: See article
Disadvantages: Some things quite expensive

I got my phone rom a credit card deal. Open a new account and you can get a free Motorola V2288 for FREE already connected to one2one. A brilliant deal if i ever saw one. The Phone itself is very handy as it has WAP and mobile email and all the other trimmings that you get on a good phone. It costs me 30p for the first 2 minutes and then 5p for the rest of the day, which i consider quite good, but i don't usually ring people all that often so ive ...

There are quite a few price plans that have different costs for the day and different charges for calls: Pay as you go Standard - 30p for the first 2 minutes, 5p for the rest of the day. 30p all day for calls to other networks. Free Motion, Free Email, SMS and Planner

Advantages: You can organise your entire life with it, it's free
Disadvantages: Can be a little slow, can it be free forever?

WAP... Well there was a flop. Something that was once supposed to be revolutionary was shunned by almost everyone, and is now seen by many as useless. However, maybe people disliked it because of it's title- 'Mobile Internet'. If you think of a personal organiser and teletext rolled into one, you're a bit closer. However, I must say that I'm a big suported of WAP, and this is almost entirely down to T-Motion. I've decided to put this here because ...
...with all PAYG phones on One2One, there is also not separate T-Motion catagory yet, and it'd be a shame if you had to miss out. I can honestly say that T-Motion is invaluable. I first signed up when I bought a One2One WAP handset (although I now use it with Vodafone, the seem to let anyone from any network use it)- and I've never found anything else quite as good (Genie, Vizzavi etc don't come close!!). You sign up for free via t-motion.co.uk, and ...

One 2 have

Advantages: really cheap calls
Disadvantages: none

...been a loyal customer of one 2 one for over 5 years now, originally on a contract mobile service, but have now been on pay as you go for about a year. I have (sadly!) spent some time looking at all the different pay as you go service providers and their call charges. When Virgin announced their pay as you go service, i thought it would easily rival one 2 one in terms of value, but how wrong i was. One 2 One are in real terms still the cheapest ...
...this is still dearer than one 2 one. Keep in mind that Virgins' mobile air provider is One 2 One, which is why you can use one 2 one sim cards in Virgin phones, and vice versa. One 2 One also do not charge for setting up, using or retrieving messages from voicemail, this service is completely free. All the other networks charge you for this which is ludacrous. You cannot listen to voicemail messages unless you are in credit. And if your credit ...

...different types of tariffs, the one I am on is the standard plan that is 30 p for the first two minutes of everyday then 5p per minute after that which OK if you don’t use the phone much because once you have used two minutes its like who else can I phone to make the best use of the rate. Coming on Strong

Advantages: Cheap Calls,
Disadvantages: Coverage in some places

I think in the past One 2 One have had problems matching Vodafone and Cellnet but I believe they are now on the write track with their new tariff's wider range of handsets and better coverage. One 2 One have just published their new tariffs which are a great deal compared to some other network operator costs. An example of this is the Precept 200 tariff which gives you a massive 200 minutes for only £25.00 per month where as for the same price you ...
...look a the call charges one 2 one only 5p per minute at all times where as Vodafone is 10p peak and 5p off peak vodafone being a massive 50% more expensive. Another advantage of the Precept tariff is the low cost of cross network calls compared to other networks 20p per minute on one 2 one but can be as much as 35p per minute on other networks. But I think the real Jewel in the crown of the new one 2 one tariffs is the Precept Max for £75 per month ...

One2Miss

Advantages: Cheaper Phones.
Disadvantages: Nothing less that £10 top up vouchers.

...good. I wanted a knew one and I had my eye on the Ericsson T20. They did do it with Orange at £120 and they did it at One2One for £89.99. Naturally I went fo the cheaper price but trust me, One2One costs more in the long run! One2One for a start do not do £5 vouchers, only the much more expensive £10 vouchers. This is really annoying! They also have not yet introduced a swipe card to pay for a top up on your phone and they also do not let you finish ...
...voucher. I had 20p left on my phone that I wasn't allowed to use! That could be two text messages! Another problem with One2One is I find that the signal I get to my phone is poor. I have a full signal in my own house where people can call me on my home phone but when I venture out into the World I find that I get a random signal out in the open and inside most buildings I get nothing . I never had any trouble with Orange. I had in the first place ...

The ever changing network

Advantages: Free voicemail
Disadvantages: Cost of calls to other networks

...standard plan was the only one on offer when I first bought my phone. This allowed me to make calls any time of the day to any network for 30p for the first two minutes and 2p after that. Shortly after I bought it the price changed to 5p per minute after the first two minutes. This is still a very good deal and I didn’t mind the change in price because it was still cheaper than any other network. When one2one made the switch over to t-mobile ...
...All calls to any one at any time are 30p per minute after you have spent £10 on your phone the charge goes down to 20p per minute, then after you've spent £20 it goes down to 10p per minute, for the rest of the calendar month. As soon as the first of the month comes along the price goes back up to 30p per minute. On both of the above plans there is free voicemail retrieval and 10p charge per message sent. Also WAP and Mobile Email using GPRS per ...

Excellent value - but phasing out...

Advantages: One-off payment, cheap, great for light users
Disadvantages: Not good for heavy users, new packages not available for much longer

...for heavy users. For one low price (mine was £100) you get a set number of months' worth of service (12 or, in my case, 18) including 30 minutes of free calls per month. I never use more than my 30 minutes, so my monthly bills are always £0.00. The benefits are obvious - pay once and, if you don't use your phone much, you won't have much of a monthly bill for the next year or more. My phone thus works out to just over £5.50 per month, while my friends ...
...payment with the all-in-one means one more hassle I don't have to deal with. I have just ended one all-in-one contract (May 2001), and have rolled mine over into another one. However, One2One informed me that they are no longer offering the all-in-one packages, clearly because they offered such a good deal and they weren't making enough money off of them! They did say that there are still some out there in shops for sale, but once they are gone ...

...ago. What promised to be one of the better quality networks, has not advanced and in my opinion actually got worse. Here is a little background info... but i wont bore you with excessively pointless details. OK....121 began in the 80s (era of the bricks & leg warmers!). Originally the network, with its analogue mobiles was designed to work within the M25. As less than 4% of the UK pop had mobiles at this time (most of those 4% being in London), ...
...there was a potential for a mobile boom, and as other areas obviously needed contacting outside the M25, there was a need to expand. When mobile comunication became digital 121 saw their chance to expand in the market. Unlike Vodafone and BT Cellnet... 121 used a frequency of 180 Mhz along with Orange. This was opposed to 90 Mhz (GSM - global system for mobile communication) that Vod & BT used. This gave them the possible chance to expand further ...
