A trip to Opera

Advantages: It's Free, reliable and stable.
Disadvantages: No page progress bar

...==A little bit of history.== Opera was first started as a research project for a company called Telenor in Norway. This was way back in 1994. Since then the browser has gone through many changes and come up with new features that have been taken up by other browser companies such as tabbed browsing. This version, Opera 9 is the newest release, although there is a new version, 9.5 available in beta. ==The product.== Opera is a browser that enables ...

I Love Opera, Pity Google Mail Don't

Advantages: fast, secure, intuitive, some great features
Disadvantages: isn't supported by all sites and that includes Google Mail

...Chrome is raising fast, but Opera keeps trailing at around 2% - and it's a pity as it's my favourite browser by far. I will not give you a long run of features and specs, because I am not an IT person and I can't make such professional judgements, but as a user I love Opera, mostly because it has very natural, user friendly interface. I find it extremely easy to operate intuitively (and have always done - this is what drew me to Opera in the first ...
...The biggest advantages of Opera over Firefox (I will not compare to IE as it's not even worth considering) are in my opining as follows: 1) It's FAST. For some reason the pages load and the search results display noticeably quicker in Opera. 2) A brilliant wand feature which means that you can save your login data which works at a click of the mouse from a drop-down menu, so you don't need to type even the first letter(s) of your user name in to ...

Opera, fast browsing with lots of built in features...

Advantages: Lots of extras included, fast, skinnable
Disadvantages: Not as customizable as Firefox...but maybe that's better for beginners

Opera is the ideal browser to have as it is like an all in one package. Now you can get the included features for Firefox but these add-ons need to be installed as extras. With Opera you get a tonne of things built in although it isn't as what you would call customizable. Included with it are a speed dial feature, a bookmark synchro system and a built in torrent downloader although it is very basic. Opera uses tabbed browsing and was one of the first ...
...log in to with your Opera ID. Actually starting Opera seems to be a quicker task than starting Firefox and it uses less RAM. Browsing speed is on on par although they are some text display problems on some sites. There is some nice looking skins too, they seem to have a more complete shiny look than Firefox. The torrent downloader is basic but does the job, however you have to download every file within a torrent as you can't just select the ones ...

Nothing To Sing About

Advantages: Very few other than good help desk assistance
Disadvantages: The browser, speeds, connections

...browser. At first look Opera is much like Internet Explorer; almost identical in fact. But look a little harder and you’ll notice several differences. The first thing that stood out was the word AMAZON written everywhere I seemed to look, ok that’s a slight exaggeration but its obvious that Opera and Amazon have close ties because instead of an internet search browser toolbar you have an Amazon product search toolbar. In order to obtain ...
...using the browsers with Ciao. Opera offer a further two buttons that can although appear useful prove highly annoying. The further two buttons take you to either the very first page you viewed that day, or the very last. They sit next to the back one, or forward one button and frequently you find that you push the wrong button, or the browser picks the wrong button for you. This can be very annoying as if you don’t think fast and return to ...

Dial O for Opera

Advantages: Speed dial makes navigating oh so easy!
Disadvantages: Initial load up is very slow.

...fancied the idea of the Opera Web Browser. For some reason it always came across as a very serious product to me. Perhaps, it is the name which does not share the connotations of excitement and wonder of "firefox" and "explorer" but I always classed myself as a bit soft for a serious browser. However, just shows you should never have a pre-conception about something as Opera is very much a user friendly application. Opera also has the advantage ...
...uncomplicated. First loading of the Opera browser is perhaps the only low point of it. It takes an absolute age! Subsequent accesses are quicker but your first page on start up is certainly slower than the other browsers out there. Perhaps, this is because Opera automatically transfers all your bookmarks over from IE and any other browsers but to be honest, it would have been nice to have had the option to say no to this since I was starting from ...

I can't look at nekkid women with this...

Advantages: Speed, Gestures, wanD, Tricks
Disadvantages: Crashes on some sites

...ago I'd heard of the Opera browser, and whilst Firefox was crashing and hogging both the RAM and the CPU power it was time to have a look at this now browser. Originally released in 1996 by the cleverly named Opera Software Company the browser was one of the earliest on the market but it wasn't until around 2003 that I'd heard of it. Originally as an arm of Telenor, a large Telecom company in Scandinavia. The browser was originally just for the ...
...the Wii and DS consoles Opera was released as a browser for both (though neither are free) which has seen a much wider usage of the browser than ever before. As well as this the brilliant Opera Mini version of the device has been made free and available for download on most recent phones that totally changes the mobile internet experience. So there's the history how about the product? Well the current version I'm using is 9.64 (which appears to ...

Rival to Firefox and IE?

Advantages: Fast browsing, tabbed browsing, BitTorrent and RSS support
Disadvantages: Not all websites work well in Opera

I have been an Opera user since version 7 was released on the Windows platform and have barely used another browser since. One of the selling points of Opera for me was tabbed browsing which, although being finally rolled out in IE7 and an established feature of FireFox has been part of Opera's make up since the early days. For those unfamiliar with tabbed browsing (those of you still using IE6) it saves you from having multiple windows open on ...
...downloadable addons available from the Opera community site (accessible through the program itself). These widgets are available for a variety of tastes and range from clocks to news tickers and they all sit on the desktop outside of the main Opera window. The only downside to these addons is you can't have these open on the desktop without the browser running at the same time. although you can minimise Opera leaving the widgets visible on the desktop. ...

Time for a change from Internet Explorer!

Advantages: Tabbed Browsing, Built in Torrent Client, E-mail, and many more
Disadvantages: None

...of you who don't know, Opera is a free web browser available from www.opera.com, which rivals Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. In this review I will explain the features of the software, which make it my first choice for browsing the net. Tabbed Browsing: Tabbed browsing, put simply, allows you to open many different web pages at the same time, whilst only having the Opera application open once. This means it reduces the memory usage on your ...

Sessions: Another extremely useful feature of the Opera browser are Sessions: Under the file menu there is an option to save your current session. This means that you can save all the tabs you have open at any given time, and open them again through the file menu, and resume exactly what you were doing. Also there ...

Good but no better than the competition

Advantages: Fast and easy to use
Disadvantages: Not 100% relaible

I'm not that big on technology and not that computer savvy so please don't expect a technical analysis here. You're not going to get one. If you want one, there are plenty on this site that offer good technical comparisons, even if you don't really know what their talking about. I'm going to come at this as a layman. I have been through a number of web browsers in the past and have listened to advice. I was initially recommended Internet Explorer ...
...and have numerous 'page not found' messages despite the fact that the webpage existed and was fine. Then Firefox which worked better but now has issues with some e-mail sites such as hotmail and gmail. So, bored of listening, I wnet maverick and picked one myself. That one was Opera. Nice title I thought. Indeed, not a great criteria for selection but I had nothing else to go on. So, is it good and does it work better than the others. Well, no. The ...

Give it a miss

Advantages: Faster than IE7
Disadvantages: There are far better free browsers available

...impressed". Whilst the speed of opera is a lot quicker than IE7, it is far from being as user friendly as other browsers available such as Firefox. User defined options I found far from being user friendly. The overall appearance of the browser I thought to be somewhat messy. I found myself having to search for commonly used features such as page back and forward buttons. Although they are located in the same general area as IE and Firefox, they ...
...real practical value. For me the one thing that would make Opera more appealing would be the use of a spell checking "Widget", unless I have missed this feature, it did not seem to be available. My opinion of this browser would be "Give it a miss, get Firefox instead". ...

Speedy, Sexy and Slick browsing

Advantages: Fast; Good Interface; Bookmarks display stored passwords
Disadvantages: Uses a lot of RAM; Sometimes websites don't support it.

...feature however, is the speed. Opera operates a lot faster than other browsers i've used which is, the most important thing to consider when getting a browser. However, with speed comes memory usage, and Opera uses a lot! As I type this review with two other tabs open I can see that it uses 114K of RAM. I have also noticed with Vista that Opera and iTunes don't work well side-by-side. Another problem is that due to Opera being a fairly unused browser ...

Quick review of Opera 9

I have found Opera to be a very reliable, very powerful web browser. It works with some sites that don't in Firefox but do in Internet Explorer (it seems a bit more forgiving with malformed HTML), yet at the same time supports standards and new features before other major browsers. Opera has always been an innovative browser, and the Opera 10 development version looks very impressive and is much improved. A wonderful product I am looking forward to seeing the final version of. I would recommend Opera to anyone looking for a relatively lightweight and fast web browser. ...

A Great Browser For No Cost

Advantages: Easy, Basic and Straightforward, Free of Charge, Has Some very Handy Features
Disadvantages: Adober Flash Is A Real Hassle To View Inside The Browser.

I have used this browser since first discovering it a couple of years ago. It's simple, basic and very straightforward to use. It was one of the first browsers to have tabs so you need only have one window open with all of your webpages inside of it. When you're viewing pictures, you can click the forward button to cycle through them rather that go back and select each one individually, something which I believe no other browser has. It takes up ...
...pages and doesn't slow down your computer. Only problem comes with add ons, Adobe flash doesn't work that well so viewing tube strams can be tricky. Otherwise it's a great little browser with nothing but my upmost reccomendation. Downloads are also managed from a separate page so you don't have multiple tabs open at the bottom of your toolbar - They are all listed in one page within the browser. It's also available for other platforms which is great ...

Advantages: best stability , best page cach
Disadvantages: never press a frame !

...: no complete browser Opera is preferred for browsing only , i feel it`s more stable than firefox , in firefox if a tab failed the whole browser system fails but in opera you still can move to another tab easily Despite its high page caching abilities your memory won`t be consumed fast like in firefox ! opera widgets are still very primitive comparing to firefox so if you are a developer or social networks fan or options lover opera won`t help ...
