Advantages: Realistic, soldier-istic, and almost fantastic Disadvantages: Frustrating, high system specs and lacks oomph
...impresses me the most about Operation Flashpoint. This is not a game which jostles with its peers be the Next Big Thing. It makes no effort to be a glossy, no-holds-barred shootathon. It doesn’t need to. Codemasters have realised that if you break the mould with style, everyone forgets that the mould ever existed.
The first thing that must be understood about Operation Flashpoint is that this is not a game for the trigger-happy. Approaching ... ...reason for this is that Operation Flashpoint is more of a simulation than anything else. Instead of the confined corridors of most FPS’s, the firefights are set against a backdrop of open grassland. This in itself results in a different style of play from other shooters. Most of the duration of a gunfight is spent crawling along the ground, trying to spot distant targets; by silhouette or by the muzzle flash of their weapon as they open fire.

Operation Flashpoint is a complete simulation of war – from the officers barking orders to the sound of gun fire everything seems so real its utterly believable. One mission you might be escorting an officer on a routine patrol in a jeep. He orders you to disembark and next thing you know you and a couple of fellow soldiers are chasing an enemy Special Forces guy through the forest. ...thing that attracted me to Operation Flashpoint, was the alleged sheer realism of the game. I'm not one for wanton violence, but I do like to watch documentaries on war.
So naturally, I got this game. Was I disappointed? In a word no.
When you first start playing the game, the main menu screen pops up. There is a video of 'in game' footage running in the background and you are presented with: Single player; Campaign; Mission editor and multiplayer.
... ...yet there is a story running through them. It is a little confusing though, in that all of these missions are unlocked. You see, even though it is called single player, this is not the main part of the game. More like a place you can come to perfect your skills, yet a little more inventive than a training ground. There are quite a few different levels.
The campaign mode however IS the main part of the game. You start of at military camp, oblivious ...

I can safely say that this is the most addictive and also frustrating game that I have ever played. This game takes the role of a 1st person (or 3rd person) shooter. This game contains a mixture of both Project IGI and Rogue Spear, IGI for the stealth and Rogue Spear for the killing. But this game contains a new feature, this is that when on the battle field you may commandeer vehicles, these range from cars and trucks to tanks and choppers, you ... ...The overall plot of the game is that there is a renegade Russian general, who is fed up with NATO running the show around Europe. The General who is power hungry, blood thirsty and an all round nutter, decides that he will pick a fight with NATO, silly bloke. This general has got his own personal army from somewhere from existing Russian forces who are out there to finally show NATO that there are not an easy ride, using these fanatical troops he ...

Operation Flashpoint. This is a game that managed to revolutionise the entire PC shooting-sim market, and certainly for the better. Technically it’s third person too, but that’s the thing – Operation Flashpoint is the perfect marriage of multiple game genres. Want to fly a helicopter? You can. Maybe a plane? No problem. Or you could always just cruise around on one of the many ground vehicles, ranging from tanks to tractors. Operation Flashpoint ... ...The Gold Edition of Operation Flashpoint can be picked up for around £30 now, and it comes complete with the ‘Resistance’ add-on, a great expansion for the game, with new vehicles and missions. I’d take no hesitation in recommending this to anyone, and I’m not going to:
Get it.
Thanks for reading.

There's more to Operation Flashpoint than just combat, although this is the major element. Stealth and cunning play a part in many missions, especially lone or Black Ops ones. ...weren't up to scratch, and Operation Flashpoint is their riposte - a hugely ambitious, addictive, and, for the most part, hugely successful soldier sim. And special forces sims. And tank sim. And Plane sim. And Helicopter sim. And...... i'll stop there, you already know what i mean.

Advantages: Detailed, Realistic, Disadvantages: Bit slow because I need a new Graphics Card
I bought Operation Flashpoint in PC World on Friday 23rd June. This was the day of release, and I had been waiting for it for weeks! Thankfully it didn?t disappoint me. The first good thing when buying the game was I got a game for free with it ? 1NSANE ? although overall compared to Electronics Boutique it cost me £5 more (£35 in PC World, £30 in Electronics Boutique). It didn?t matter to me because I was getting Operation Flashpoint! If you have ... ...games, maybe even war. Then you are likely to love this game. I personally wouldn?t usually go for these types of games, but I had £30 in PC World vouchers, and I decided to go ahead and buy it. Haven?t regretted it since. For anyone who hasn?t heard of this game before it is basically a first-person soldier simulation game (can be third-person but it isn?t as good). It?s really the first one I?ve ever played. ...in this game. Thankfully in Operation Flashpoint you can employ tactics that reduce the ease and randomness of death. This game lets you control a single soldier, a whole troop, tank platoons and helicopter gunships in the same game, you can even do it in the same mission.

It is a mixture of the open-ended and non-linear nature of completing your goals, excellent ... ...linear storyline of the 3 characters you play. Firstly I will talk about the open-ended nature of the game. You are given primary and secondary objectives and the game doesn`t care how you carry them out. For example one mission, I had to destroy some 2 tanks in a heavily armed base. I was a black opps person with some satchel charges. Now, I tried getting into this base from the front back and sides. I stole a tractor to get through the fence, I ...

...all very impressive. Everything about Operation Flashpoint : cold war crisis signals quality and you would have serious difficulties finding any real flaws with it (apart from the unbelievably long title).
The game itself would be best described as a simulation of war. It is set in the year of 1985 in a period of cold war. Its you against the Russians as they attempt to invade a series of Nato held Islands in Eastern Europe.

Operation Flashpoint is a great game to get a taste of war, and should not be missed.
Flashpoint comes with everything, changes in weather, detailed landscapes and all the weaponry you could ever ask for.

The realism to Operation Flashpoint is breath taking, due to the Artificial Intelligence So this makes the game more challenging, realism to the injuries are thought of as well.
If you get shot in the legs you won’t be able to walk, if hit in the arm you won’t aim your weapon as well, this also happens on vehicles but in a mechanical way, For example: A vehicle will stop working if you hit a tree or the fuel runs out.
Flashpoint also comes ...

I first bought this game a month ago when I had a relatively low spec PC based on reviews I had read. Unfortunately it wouldn't run passed the first frame - very frustrating. Last week I decided it had been sitting in my game collection long enough for it to justify me buying something substantially quicker and game friendly. So with my new PC I installed Flashpoint......I wasn't disappointed. I am able to have all effects on the highest settings ... ...person action packed games I got straight in to it. The first thing you'll realise is how easy it is to get killed by someone hiding in a bush. In fact, you probably won't even realise where the shots are coming from at first. Once you get the hang of things the game really gets addictive. What I like best is how you are free to do pretty much anything you want. For example, I decided that instead of completing my mission I would steal a nearby jeep ...

I admit that I did not like Flashpoint when it first came out, it was glitchy, badly animated and the story was not very well told. The first two points were pretty much ironed out by the 4th patch and you'll be pleased to know that this version of the game fixes them pretty much totally giving a much sharper feel to the game, and making it much more enjoyable and much more involving.
