    Advantages Advantages Some slight humour

Disadvantages Disadvantages Characters and Plot is unrealistic and there isnt too much depth to it

I had never read any of Jenny Colgan’s books before, so I didn’t quite know what to expect when I read Operation Sunshine as I couldn’t compare it to any of her other books. Jenny Colgan has written quite a few books and from what I gather mostly all of her books are Chic Lit. Even although i had never read any of her books before I had heard of a few of her more popular ones such as Amanda’s Wedding, West End Girl’s and the most recent Diamond’s are a Girl’s best friend. Operation Sunshine was released in June 2008 prior to Diamond’s are a Girl’s Best Friend in May 2009. Operation Sunshine is ... more

I recently did a review on Jane Green one of my favourite authors and another one of mine is Jenny Colgan. Her latest book 'operation Sunshine' is not long out in paperback and I eventually got to read it a couple of days ago. The author: Jenny Colgan has brought out quite a few books in the Romance and chick lit category. All together she now has 8 books published and a further one planned for release next year in January. She lives in France with her husband and 2 sons. The story: The book follows Evie who is a receptionist for two plastic surgeons on famous Harley Street and who desperately ... more

Operation Sunshine – Jenny Colgan ….. Evie is a young and bored medical secretary working on Harley Street and in need of a good summer holiday for once. All her previous attempts at a holiday have been shockingly terrible and she is determined that this time things are going to be different and she is going to get away for some classic sun sea and hopefully sex! As both her money and friends are thin on the ground the prospects aren't looking good at first but when her employers invite her to come along with them to a conference held in the South of France, she jumps at the chance. Once out ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick, easy, cheap summer holiday read

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not a fan of the writing style myself

I'm always on the hunt for good second hand books, especially in this heat when you just want to sit near a fan or in the shade with a breeze and a cool drink. Operation Sunshine was a book I picked up on one of these second-hand spree's and whilst it fufilled it's purpose by being a mildly entertaining summer read (and the fact that it was only 50p) it won't be making my list of top reads any time soon. I'd never heard of Jenny Colgan before so I didn't really know what to expect and I have to say I found her writing style a little bit too casual for me. It's not bad and I've read books a lot ... more
