    Opodo.co.uk is a travel site set up by a variety of european airlines, including British Airways. Having taken the rather daring step to attend the wedding of a very good online friend in Pittsburgh the hunt was on for a cheap airfare to the US, matters were further complicated by the fact that my traveling companion - him of the dubious passport pic agreed that a trip to New York would be a great idea.     opodo - it reads the same upside down as it does right way up. I found this amusing. I should get out more. With Opodo I can get out more, because I can fly cheaper. Pretty good huh? OK so Opodo is just another on line flight search and booking site, but this one is brought to you by the good folk at British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, and Aer Lingus amongst others.     On this spring I’ve booked two hotels in Egypt with opodo.co.uk. I have mixed fillings about this booking system. First of all I want to mention that they have disgusting customer support. For any enquires that were sent using their web site, they have provided answers more than one week later or haven’t provided it at all. Also it is practically impossible to get answer for calls on the customer support phone number specified. All their phone lines are busy. You should be ready to listen for music during very long time if you will try to call them. Moreover they even don’t have 24 hours ... more

    READ THIS - Very important . I would never use opodo again after the trouble I had after booking a flight with them. I booked a flight from London to Kathmandu three months before travelling. I used an internet comparison site and the cheapest company for the flight I booked wasn't actually Opodo but I booked through Opodo because I (wrongly) trusted them. The day before I was due to travel they rang me up and said my flight had been cancelled (!!!). They said the only thing I could do was take a refund and try and find another flight.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Never seems to come up with a good deal!

    I have had a lot of comments regarding this review, mainly defending Opodo and syaing its great! I still cant see why people rate it. See my recent experience at the end! I am a long serving internet flight booker and must have used, or at least tried to use all the major net booking services. I have just booked my latest holiday (cant wait!) and have once again found that Opodo's flight options were both indirect and expensive.     I write this opinion to warn others of the difficulties they might face when using online booking agents Opodo. I was after a return flight from Edinburgh to London and used Opodo after seeing their adverts. The online system was straight forward enough to use and my booking was confirmed twice. However things wen't badly wrong when it came to paying for the flights. The system was having trouble understanding my card details so I called the customer service line.     I booked a flight from Birmingham to Brisbane to (see my father at Easter) through Opodo and all was confirmed online with the money going out of my account within 18 hours. That part was easy - I guess spending money always is. However, my father was taken seriously ill at the start of February and given only 4-6 days to live so I telephoned Opodo to explain that I needed to cancel the Easter flight and change the booking to the first available seat on any flight.     Looking for cheap tickets to Japan, we checked Trip Advisor, which came up with Opodo as the cheapest option. I'd heard of the company, but never used it before, as I usually book flights through Expedia. This time, Expedia were £80 more expensive for the same flight, based on the data provided by Trip Advisor. I know that prices shown on comparison sites can change in the time it takes to click through to the booking site, but this wasn't the case when I went to the Opodo website.     I have written this review couple of months ago but decided to add some more info which may be relevant and useful. The website for Opodo can be reached from www.opodo.com where you choose your location ( UK, France or Germany) or you can just go directly to www.opodo.co.uk. The company is actually owned by several major airlines such as British Airways, Air France, KLM and few others.     I've used Opodo a few times and whilst they may not be the cheapest (they are not affiliated with the budget airlines), I can always get to my destination, to the airport I want from the airport I want., at a time that is good for me. So if I have to pay a little extra, that's fine by me. Opodo is owned by BA, Air France, Alitalia, Iberia, KLM, Lufthansa, Aer Lingus, Austrian Airlines, Finnair and Amadeus.
