    Following the 13 March disaster in Japan, I wanted to get my son a ticket out of Japan. I'd used Opodo often for work travel and generally found their service ok for booking flights, so I booked a flight for my son, got their email confirmation and thought no more of it. I got onto an overnight flight myself to meet him. Next day, luckily I was able to check my email and found a message from Opodo saying "Unable to honour fare as booked outside office hours therefore booking is now cancelled".     Opodo is a must for all business travellers. My company has a designated travel agent, not opodo, and we can often knock the price they quote down telling them the opodo price. Last year I was quoted by the company travel agent £250 for a return flight to Amsterdam but found on opodo that by catching a later return flight on KLM it went down to £69! The company travel agent did not even offer me this and it suited my requirements better. The site covers only major airlines so will not bring up easyjet, ryanair, bmi baby etc. The fares you find are very competitive and with a bit of practice ... more

    hi, my experience with opodo is still ongoing, i booked a car from gatwick for the 2nd of december, there was a problem with booking on line so i phoned direct to finish the booking, i have had no response from them apart from the fee taken off my credit card, i have been on constant hold to there only phone number for the last 4 days, yesterday sombody actually answered, but before i could say two words i was swiftly cut off, my emails have been ruturned not sent & i do not know if i will have a car waiting for me when i arrive at gatwick. this is the worst treatment ive ever had from such a ... more

    I am going to visit a friend in Edinburgh and decided flying would be the cheapest and quickest option. Feeling slightly nervous about booking online (will i get my tickets, are my details safe etc), I spent a fortnight prior to booking 'researching' the different companies, prices etc. Opodo came out cheapest every time. Their web site was one of the simplest and easiest to follow, and the booking process was painless. The tickets arrived the next day (free delivery-some companies charge).     I would strongly advise against using this website to book flights. My reservation was cancelled even though I had recieved a confirmation of booking, and when I queried it I was met with incompetent and unhelpful staff which resulted in me having to re-purchase the flights at a more expensive price. They refused to reinburse me for the difference and claimed it was not their fault. If you have made a booking I suggest that you call them up to make sure it is confirmed even if you have recieved an email confirmation. My overall advise though is do not use ... more

    Opodo is a nightmare! you never get what you paid for, and the customer service simply ignore you! I can't understand that this website still exist! I booked a ticket, paid for it. Opodo charged my credit card... So far everything is ok... But I never received any confirmation, reservation number, and so far no eticket! My trip is comin and I still am not sure wheter I have a flight or not... I contact the customer service once a day.... They simply ignore my request and don't reply to me. I strongly recommend you to avoid opodo. I am not sure yet if I will solve my problems with them, but ... more

    I booked an Alitalia flight to Rome for Christmas through Opodo. The flight was overbooked and the queue was "combed" by Alitalia staff placing the Italian passengers on board. By the time I checked in the flight was closed and subequent flights were cancelled due to fog. I was advised to leave the airport and apply for a refund. After an 8 month battle with Opodo they have just told me that Alitalia have recorded me as a "no show" and are refusing to give me any refund. LIARS AND THIEVES

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Rigid, inflexible terms and conditions and ruthless in their pursuit of money.

    Opodo's 'Terms and Conditions' concerning non-refundable and non-changeable tickets are a disgrace. My spouse and I booked tickets from London to Colombia for the 14th March 2008 to visit her sick mother. When it became apparent that my wife's mother's sitation had significantly deteriorated in January 2008, Opodo would not allow us to amend the booking for another flight. They refunded fuel costs but said only the airline, Iberia, could refund the tickets or allow for a change of itinerary. After contacting Iberia, I was told that the itinerary was 'non-changeable' in Opodo's contract and ... more

    Whilst the opodo website is easy to use and I experienced no trouble whatsoever. The after sales service should be renamed the sales prevention service. Contact by e-mail gives a reference number but they never bother to reply. I have contacted then 3 times and get a new reference number everytime but no actual answers or contact. The only other way of contacting them is through their premium phone line. I would question the integrity of any company that expects you to pay prenium rates to query their own inefficiency.

    I tried to book tickets to Rome and needed to change the return date. I called Opodo to try to change the date within 10 minutes of making the original booking and was told it would cost £37+£25 fee per person + the additional fair (so what am I getting for the £124 then?) Opodo have a £25 fee per person to 'void' a transaction if booking is incorrect - and that is only available if you do it within 10 minutes of the original booking. Upshot - I paid £50 to get nothing - Thanks opodo won't be using you ... more
