...phone with a camera, and Orange suggested I went for the SPV 100 and it would be free, now that was a good offer to me, so we took it. **WHAT YOU GET**
1) A charger with different adapter's for use without the cradle and to use in other countries like the 2 pin plug.
2) A Desktop cradle for use with PC for updates
3) Sound Cards which is only 8 MB which doesn't do much, you will need to upgrade it.
4) A CD which has Active Sync software.
5) ... ...PC so you can the Orange Updates.
You get other ring tones when available, and different home screens.
The only good point I would say about this phone is the size of screen and the fact it has an appointments section. The ring tones are very plain, and not very good one's, not great quality either and not that load, abit of a pain when using the alarm,
but you can use different ring tones to have as the alarm. **PROBLEMS**

Advantages: Excellent Introduction to PDA's - if you've not had one before. Disadvantages: Poor battery Life
I've just upgraded to the SPV M600 - it's the first non Nokia phone I've had and it was something of a struggle to get my head around all of the features and to get used to the somewhat different way of doing things. I won't try to list all of the features- if you've had plenty of features on your phone before, suffice to say it's got most of them, although I was disconcerted at first to find no radio, stopwatch, countdown timer etc, which I had found ... ...where the different way of doing things comes in - many features are available for purchase as extra programmes to be run via the pocket PC software, which forms the basic operating system for the PDA function of the phone. Alternatively, you can download and install Java Midlets - if you can find one that works.... To be fair, this model is fairly new and plenty of suitable downloads will no doubt be available in due course.
At the moment I'm still ...

...buy a nice shiny new Orange SPV.
I purchased it the day before they were supposedly released, it cost me £99.99 on an Orange Contract with a monthly bill of £25. I’ve seen prices of £170 quoted dependant on tariff.
Just out of interest I also opted for the SPV special add on of unlimited GPRS, which is valuable if you want to surf the web on your phone....

Original Review:
I upgraded to an SPV from a Nokia 8310 (see previous review). What attracted me to it was that it has many of the features of a PDA on a device the size of a phone. Okay so the SPV is larger than your average phone these days, but it is still a lot smaller than say a Nokia Communicator or the new Sony Ericcson ... ...upgrade (and new contract) in Orange shops. I got mine at the one in Victoria station in London - great people - very helpful. To see the full spec’s I’d suggest looking at the Orange web site (unfortunately I don’t think I’m allowed to provide a link) so for those not wishing to go there I’ve copied and pasted key features at the end of the review. The key things for me where:

Advantages: Loads of functionality, great when you are out and about Disadvantages: Very short battery life, annoying little bugs
When I first saw the Orange SPV (which stands for Sound, Pictures, Video trivia-buffs), the first commercial GPRS phone to use the Microsoft 'Smartphone' 2002 OS, I was really excited about it. It looked like it had everything; you could carry around the contents of your MS Outlook as it duplicated all of your data directly from your computer, it could send and receive email, Web browse, run Instant Messenger and it connected via GPRS - all on a ... ...15” computer monitor.
However, Orange have a list of sites specially designed for the SPV which cover most things you want to look up when you are out and about. As with e-mails, it's fine for occasional use when out but I wouldn't use the SPV as your primary internet connection.
Camera quality
I didn’t have high expectation for the quality of the pictures that the SPV would take. I saw it being used for photos on trips but the detail is not nearly ...

There are a few apps out there for sale, but the list isn't exactly vast. There are also some third party add ons but again, not that many of them. In order to install these it was necessary to hack around and unlock the phone yourself. I'm rather dubious as to how many of those unlocking it ever did anything of the sort. Among the software available there are Spectrum and Gameboy emulators but the keys required to use the game ROMs these require were too unfriendly for my tastes and although I downloaded things for novelty value I never used them.
Overall I think that my expectations were not met ...

...I had to go for Orange as they were the only people who “dared” to support this phone, that’s why it’s called the “orange spv smartphone”. After changing the battery, and setting up all of the other stuff needed to setup this phone, I decided that I would have a little play on it. It seemed good at first, you know, a few games included. As these phones had just come out, they obviously had many flaws to them. ...

Advantages: Good sized screen Disadvantages: Totally unreliable
I must start by getting straight to the point. This is the worst phone that I've ever had the displeasure of owning.
Bought in Febuary this year, when it was still retailing at £129.99 on contract, I thought I'd walked away from the shop with the bees knees in mobile phone technology. Indeed I had for the first month or so, I had my very own PC in my pocket, the first person that I knew that had a camera attachment and most definately the only person ... ...phone as an MP3 player by using the windows media player that's part of the package.
I was soon to find out that all was not as it seemed. Downloading MP3's was relatively simple using the supplied docking cradle, but the media card was only 8MB in size. 2 small MP3's was my limit, but I was happy at least I had the capability and the choice of upgrading the size of the card should I wish to do so. However the more use the phone had, the less capable ...

Advantages: Internet browser, POP3 email, record ringtones from your CD collection Disadvantages: Slow and has several bugs
As the first of its kind the SPV was excellant. The ability to browse full internet pages rather than just WAP pages is invaluable. Its also nice to be able to pick up emails on the move.

Hopefully the new and improved SPV E100 irons out some of these flaws and the soon to be released E200 will improve the phone further.
(Ammong other things the E200 promises a built-in camera rather than the clip on accessory that the SPV/SPV E100 comes with now) ...

Advantages: Large screen, well strctured layout, connects to directly to your PC. Disadvantages: Small buttons that are shiny and slippery.
This is an excellent phone that does just about everything but make tea. The screen is large enough for most needs, but not big enough for reading maps (unless you carry a magnifying glass with you).
