Advantages: An excellent read, hard to put down! Disadvantages: I have some concerns - see the review.
Why I got the book
This book had been on my Amazon wishlist for a long time, so when I joined BookMooch it was one of the first books I mooched.
Although I'm generally drawn towards autobiographies, especially when they involve mental health issues, I was particularly drawn to this one as I had been told that it involved themes of self-harm. Having personal experiences of self-injury, and spending a great deal of my spare time as trustee ...

The family suffer too Review ofOut of the Dark - Linda Cain, Robin Roystonby
msty29368
Advantages: a fantistic read and understanding of mental illnesses Disadvantages: very disturbing and emotional
...put it down. To find out what caused such pain and hurt in the life of Linda and is very emotional and gives the reader some understanding of the illness Linda suffers. Its a relief to find she gets through it and aims to help others do it. Linda even keeps in touch with Robin, whom she now classes as a friend.
I don't think it is an essential read, but if you want a good book based on real life then this is the one I would recommend. ...

Out Of The Dark Review ofOut of the Dark - Linda Cain, Robin Roystonby
HissingSid1965
Advantages: Easy to follow the structure of this story Disadvantages: Can't put it down
Out of the Dark - When I started reading this book, I had no idea how profoundly it would effect me. I have suffered with depression of varying degrees for a number of years, culminating in 3 attempts on my own life in 2005.
The way this story has been written, makes it all the more interesting as not only do we get Linda's point of view, we also get the thoughts of Robin her psychiatrist. The way we are directed along the "mountain goat trail" is ...
