I started taking the pill when I was a teenager as I was not really a very nice person to be around before and during my time of the month. I suffered lengthy and painful periods and wasn't aware that much could be done until I realised that other people had found the joys of "the pill". I was prescribed Cilest, turned into a plate throwing monster and suffered various side effects, one of which was weight gain. Advantages Easy to take, highly effective, few side effects.
Disadvantages None if it's the right pill for you.

I would highly recommend Ovranette to any female who a)wants highly effective prevention of pregnancy and b)has problems with infrequent, heavy or painful periods. Ovranette is the perfect solution for women, such as myself, who have no history in their family of high blood pressure or heart attacks, and is, as long as you have a fairly good memory, easy to take and has few side effects. I can probably best describe Ovranettes main effects on the body by talking about my own experiences with it. I've seen and respospnded to several reviews about pills that I have had experience of and thought it was about time I did one of my own! I have been on three different pills in the last 8 years, starting with Dianette in 2001, Cilest for a short time in 2004 (then back to Dianette because of the moody blues) and Ovranette from early 2009. I had been on Dianette for a long time and got on with it very well. Disadvantages having to remember to take it!

I first went on the pill at 17 because I didn't want to end up pregnant (not yet anyway!). Ovranette is a combined oral contraceptive. The nurse asked me about my medical history and took my blood pressure before prescribing me with Ovranette. There are quite a lot of reasons why Ovranette may not be suitable for some women, but the nurse will go through these with you. Ovranette is free on prescription from the NHS. The Pill: As a contraceptive pill, Ovranette has been around for quite a while and is probably a little out of date against its competitors now. It was first recommened to me when I began university at 18 as one of the best ways to help prevent pregnancy. Advantages: When I first started taking it, it was great, I had regular periods and the ones I did have were a lot lighter and only lasted 4/5 days when before they used to last about 7/8 (I was one of the unfortunate ones!). Advantages Runs like clockwork, easy to take, not many side effects
Disadvantages First month can be rough

I was first put on Ovranette at the age of 18 when I had my period for 18 days straight. The pill helped to curve the bleeding and I was back to normal almost immediately. When getting married at the age of 25 I decided to go on the pill having seen and heard of other methods out there. I didn't trust the condom for 2 reasons. First being that it's 97% effective and sod's law being what it is I would be in the 3%! Disadvantages a bit risky if you forget a pill

I've taken Ovranette for, well as long as I can remember. I've come off it twice, both when I wanted to try and conceive and did so within 3 months of coming off the pill. Apart from a few headaches around the first day or so of taking a new pack I absolutely no side effects now. On commencing the pill originally I did put on weight, but this is to be expected. I've not tried any other pill other than this one and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to start taking the pill. I was first put on Ovranette when I was about 16/17 due to the fact that I used to suffer with heavy periods and bad stomach cramps, this solved the problem. I've not tried any other pill as this seems to work for me. When I wanted to conceive my first child I did without any problems. I came off the pill at the beginning of the year (I was told it would take between three and six months for it to come out my system) and I conceived in later on in the year. I first went on the pill when I was 17 because I was in a serious relationship and wanted to safeguard against pregnancy. I was prescribed Cilest and all was fine for about two years until I noticed I'd put on a lot of weight. Having just started university I put this down to a change in lifestyle and careless eating so I went on a diet.
