    What is the point of a PC games magazine, it all depends on your point of view. If you are fanatical about games and have to know all the information on a new game as soon as it is available then this is the place to find it. Looking at it from the opposite perspective then it could be seen as a blatant helping hand to the games industry to shift as many copies of their games as possible. For most of us though who fall somewhere in the middle, having a healthy interest in games, then PC Gamer is the magazine to buy. Why?     Advantages Advantages well written, informative, packed with goodies

    Disadvantages Disadvantages may be a little expensive, mostly for experienced gamers

    Computer games. They're fun aren't they? You can plant your bum on a chair in front of a screen, and transport yourself away from this big bad world into....well, bigger and badder worlds. But you get to do something about it. You're the hero. What you do makes a difference. Fantastic.     PC Gamer has to be the cream of the crop when it comes to PC gaming magazines. It consistently delivers up to the minute reviews and its In Development section I find particularly useful as it enables me to decide what to spend my hard earned pennies on. There are several core units to this magazine which I will break down into a descending list of favour: First Look As mentioned above one of my main reasons for buying this magazine is to see what is coming up for release in the games world.     By its own admission, PC Gamer is Britain’s best selling PC games magazine and its easy to see why. At £4.99 it may seem a little expensive, but there are always 1 or 2 Cds on the front cover which are packed with the latest game demos as well as being plenty of reviews and useful information inside which makes it worthy of the price when compared to some of its less worthy competition.     PC Gamer is my favourite magazine. It is monthly and costs £4.99, which is a lot for a magazine, but I think it is big with lots of reading time. It is very informative with lengthy reviews of up to 6 pages for good games. It normally has about 30 pages of reviews with about 20 games reviewed in each issue. It also has a budget re-releases pages with short 1-column reviews for games recently put at budget prices. It has a ‘Scoop!’ section that has 2 page previews of games in production and ‘Eyewitness’ section for smaller previews and recent news of the gaming world. The ‘Previews’ section has ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Buying issues individually can be expensive

    Whilst I do play quite a lot of games, I wouldn't really describe myself as a hard core gamer and ordinarily wouldn't read any gaming magazines, preferring instead just to look on websites if I want to read a review on a game. My boyfriend, on the other hand is an avid reader of PC Gamer and I recently treated him to a years subscription of the monthly magazine which at a cost of £52 works out at about £4 an issue, I believe you are saving almost £2 off every copy. My boyfriend also received his copy 2 days before they were in the shops, so he was very pleased with this! You get a free disc ... more

    This magazine, in a word, blows. They are the epitome of a magazine that will say/do anything for cash. ("SELL OUT! With PC Gamer To-day!") When Outpost first came out, these guys gave it a sterling review, an Editor's Choice, I believe, yet 3 years later, when PC Gamer makes its list of the 10 Worst Games of all time, it makes the list?! Please. Can you say, "They got paid?" I knew you could. This magazine basically reads like a big advertisment.     PC Gamer is Britians best selling PC Games magazine (well thats what they say) and I'm not surprised why it's the best selling mag because IT'S GREAT! Each month you get a great mag with 2 CD's full of the latest game demos and patches. Which is worth the £4.99 alone! The mag it's self is always split into 6 main sections with these being First Look, Previews, Regulars, Hardware, Tips and the Months reviews.     Pc Gamer to be fair is a very high quality gaming magazine. There is around 180 pages in each issue (13 per year), features include previews of new games, updates on the development of others and of course reviews of games. Readers letters gets a good sized share of the magazine - 4 full pages. The magazine also gives readers the chance to send in their own view on games and re-review in their own words.     Advantages Advantages High quality reviews, large demo disc and good design.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Its a tad expensive

    I have read PC Gamer almost every month for the past few years and i have to say that it is one of the best PC gaming magazines out there, if not THE best. The magazine gives balanced opinions on all the latest games and games related stories, however with increased internet access it is just as easy to read new information online as it is released. However i prefer to still buy the magazine due to its high quality and its range of demo's/files on the disc included.
