I've been using Paint Shop Pro in it's various versions since about 1995, Version 7 is without doubt the best version by far, and it's amazing to see this product come from a limited shareware program to one of the best graphics packages around. You can manipulate graphics for any purpose in PSP7, but two of the main uses of a graphics package nowadays are probably Photo enhancement, and Web design. ...edit all my pictures in Paint Shop Pro which allows me to change the lighting of a picture, the texture, contrast and so on. I have used other programs but this one to me is the best.
It is also a great program for working with and creating graphics and animations.
It is not a program you can just install and work right away. It does take some study and learning as to how every thing operates but great instructions come with it.

Graphics are great for lots of things such as making gifts of t-shirts with a design on you have created down to your own personal greeting cards that you print out and send through the postal service. To me, Paint Shop Pro is simply the best and most affordable image design package available on the market today.
What makes it so good is that it appeals to such a wide range of users. Its price of about £70 from the download web site ($99) or £77 for the boxed CD ($109) is affordable to anyone who is considering buying one of the finest tools in its category on the market.
If you visit the home page of PSP 7, its maker JASC, have a very nice site ... ...of this but it doubles as a paint program similar to the free one that you get with windows.
As for effects, there are 100`s to choose from that allow the user to change their graphics.
Simply try it. Go to the website and download it.

Paint Shop Pro 7 is now a couple of years old and has been superseded by Paint Shop Pro 8 and 9. This version of Paint Shop Pro though, remains special and cleared the way for the constant progress seen in 8 and 9, and finally broke the quality barrier between PSP and Adobe Photoshop, but still holds the name as the ‘Poor Mans Photoshop.’
First you may ask, “there are newer versions of this program, why bother reviewing it?”
Well, Paint Shop Pro ... ...prefer the other versions.
In Paint Shop Pro 7, the various effects can be applied to images:
> Blurs [ Blur Average, Blur, Blur More, Gaussian Blur, Motion Blur, Soften, Soften More ]
These effects all blur the image. This is done by averaging the pixels (dots) next to transitions and lines to give a smooth effect in the desired way. Can also be used for removing graininess and photo retouching.

...is one of the best paint packages I have ever had the priveledge to use.
I then went out and purchased the full version . Lucky for me PC world has this on their web site for £49.99 even better.
So what do you get for your dosh. Well for starters , you get two well documented manuals.
The first is a getting started manual with 100 pages of fully illustrated information which gets you started in PSP7 and its sister product Animation Shop 3 which ... ...manual is the PSP7 Referance guide with over 500 pages of information and illustrations to help you do what you want . Feature wise , this program has everything you expect from more expensive packages but at a fraction of the cost.The photo capabilities of this product are unsurpassed and I believe ADOBE now has some serious competition.
From the initial easy to use installation to the finished picture/photo this program just gets better to use.

The latest edition of this program has significant improvements over their last version, and it is considerably better than it was before. The general working environment hasn't really changed, but many features have been added, loads have been improved and it is generally a lot than I thought it would be. I downloaded the trial and was quite impressed. After five minutes of playing with it, I had seen loads of new and cool features. One area which ... ...comes to web design. From it's early freeware or shareware days PaintshopPro has always been my favourite graphics program. It is very versatile and has loads of great features to help manipulate, design and create images. It handles all file types, jpg, tif, bmp, wmf etc and is my default picture browser.

It’s quite good the things it can do like edit photo’s it doesn’t even matter what file you saved them under, they will all open in Paint Shop Pro. Once you have your photograph on the screen the fun can begin. It’s ever so easy and you can add colour, add back grounds, use the animation tool that this package has to offer, and generally have a good deal of fun. If you ... ...you can open it using Paint Shop Pro and edit footage. It’s very easy to install and won’t affect the speed of your computer, once installed let the fun bring. Although, I don’t personally use the package a lot, it’s a great tool to have even though if it is a bit expensive. Runs well, works well and results are very colourful!
Overall very good software package for anyone wanting a very high quality package for editing photographs ...

Paint shop pro 7, although confusing at the start to get to grips with, is an excellent art package for even the beginner, when I first bought this I thought it’d be just like the other psp’s (Paint shop pros) and very easy to get to grips with, but with the new addition of layers it made it fairly hard and confusing but in a way much more advanced and a lot more versatile in it’s use.

- Seems to be able to open almost ... ...loading and saving of images, Paint Shop Pro 7 managed to open a 46meg bitmap in less than 5seconds which is something “Paint” can’t seem to manage.
