    I am a pakistani cricket supporter and even though it hurts me to say I don't believe that a one match ban (Waqar Younis) is sufficient and the punishment should have been more, so this case could have been an deterrent for future cases. It is not the first time a pakistani player has been found or seen doing something to the ball. Over the last couple of weeks cricket's image has been torn to pieces, Hansie Cronje has torn the game into pieces and the latest incidient has just tarnished the game even more.     Pakistan: a good team that has the players that can beat anyone if they are focused, but unfortunately they seem to have a darker side. With all the recent match fixing allegations, Cronje aside, it seems to me that Pakistani players are the most corrupt, with question marks hanging over their defeats by Bangladesh and Australia in last year's world cup. They have had a torrid time the last few years with their captains as well, with Salim Malik at the centre of a massive enquiry, which also took down some other major names with him.     Currently pakistan are under the kosh, as it were, against the new zealand a side. Nevertheless, with the quality still present in the team, i expect them to win the series. In Wasim and Waqar they posess two fast bowlers with extreme pace and great track records behind them. The former will no doubt be sprung into acvtion by the fact that he is nearing the world record and could even braek 500 test victims in the enar future.     For anyone who doesn’t know much about Test cricket, Pakistan are the undeniable cheats of the sport. Put simply, their levels of dishonesty, unsportsman like conduct and shear disregard for the spirit of the game are insurmountable. It is hard to isolate examples of this, not because they are difficult to find, more that it is difficult to decide what to leave out.     Many millions are waiting for this series to get under way. Pakistan vs India is much bigger than the Ashes. India are on high after the series in Australia. While Pakistan have had good results in the Test arena, their one-day game is not 100% yet. For the test series Pakistan have to bring back Saqlain Mustuaq into the side. Mohammed Sami, and Shoiab Akthar pick themselves. That leaves one allrounder and one more bowler two choose.     Pakistan bounced back from their humiliation at home against England by taking the second test and then qualifying for the final of the Natwest Trophy. In the final, Pakistan, after a long time, has difficulty deciding about the final eleven, because of the quality players availability. Still, Pakistan lost by a disasrous margin of nine wickets.     In the last few years Pakistan has always been a strong bowling team with a fairly brittle top order but in the last year we have seen the emergence of a few young batsmen which gives hope for the future.Witness the batting performance against Sri Lanka in the recent test series.Players like Imran Nazir and Yousuf Youhana coupled with a already strong bowling line up (also with several young up and coming bowlers) looks like giving a bright future to the Pakistani's.The only problem that I can see causing a problem is the newer players also getting caught up ine allegations of sleaze and ... more

    The recently concluded one-day and test series between the two rivals--Pakistan and India on Pakistan's home ground was something highly anticipated. People both in Pakistan and India were so thrilled and excited about the series that all the tickets for the matches had been bought in advance and on the actual days, stadiums were full with crowds cheering both Pakistan and India.     Dis anyone see the complete thrashing that England gave to Pakistan in the recent TEST match!! That was unbelievable. But in the 2nd test, Pakistan gave England a run for their money!! It was an unbelievable result. however, 3 of the wickets obtained from Pakistan, were no-balls, which was later shown on the skyscope, and the bowler (especially Wasim Akram) was a foot length over the crease line.     The Pakistan Cricket Team was totally transformed after the 2003 world cup campaign, which was a disaster, six players lost their place in the team, including former skipper Waqar Younis. The New comers have not been disappointing The likes of Mohammed Sami who is an express bowler to go alongside The fastest bowler in the world Shoiab Akhtar.
