Advantages Advantages A sexy toy, erm which does lots of important things too!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can only use some of the functionality with people with compatible devices.

PDA’s have come a long long way since I used a Palm 100 in the early 90’s – they had rather dodgy software and hot synch connections, a black and white screen and minimal applications. Still, it was a little revolution in its own right back then. The one I upgraded to was the Palm V which was really quite similar, but more robust and reliable; but still reliant on the cumbersome “grafitti” stylus-writing unless you bought a little keyboard to go with it. So when I came to buy a new PDA late last year my thoughts immediately turned to Palm once again. I did research my options on the internet ... more

Advantages Advantages Amazing screen, easy to use, lots of features

Disadvantages Disadvantages No Wi-Fi, quite expensive

I got into PDAs a while ago and after owning a couple of them, as well as test-driving quite a few, I settled down with a Toshiba e750 (see my review). The downside of that machine is that it’s geared up to sync with Microsoft Outlook, and at my new job I have to use Lotus Notes. I then heard from some of my co-workers that Palm machines handle the sync with Notes better, so I decided to try out my friend’s Tungsten T3. This is the second time I’ve ever used a Palm device since I had my m130 (see my review) and I was quite impressed at how far Palm have come in their OS and features in the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Versatile, Powerful, Useful

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor design, Ugly, Irritating features, Lousy Mac software, clunky operation

If ever a clearer case were ever needed to be made about the dangers of hyping up a mediocre product I'd love to see it. Meanwhile I'm going to do my best here. Having owned this PDA for over a year now I just seem to be collecting disappointments: the awfulness of this product only appears to get worse over time. Where to start? How about the good points? There's no credit due to Palm in saying that PDAs are still a fabulous idea. The ability to sync up data with a computer simply and speedily is truly marvellous. If one loses one's PDA one can simply buy another one and be back where you ... more

    Advantages Advantages Powerfull processor

Disadvantages Disadvantages lack of features, big, complex interfaces

Ok, where to start with this PDA... The processor may be powerfull and it may have lots of ram and memory but whats the use in having all of that if there is little to do with it all. I found, being new to the palm OS aswell, it to be clumsy and confusing. The 400mhz processor is quite impressive and i experienced no lag or slowness at all, so this is a good point. But i found it hard to do much. It took me 10 minutes to find the right set of options or settings to simply calibrate the screen. It does however come with some usefull programs for writing and spreadsheet based work, with an easy ... more

    5 Stars Best PDA? 11/05/2004
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Great screen, fast, robust, easy to use, bluetooth, IR

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery life, need memory cards to store music

I must admit that I did not buy this myself but my girlfriend did (as a gift for me!). I have wanted a PDA for ages and she finally got sick of me talking about it and got me one. The best points: - This PDA is fast (400MHz XScale processor) - The screen is very high quality and its size is one of the biggest on the market (once you pull it down) - It feels like a very good quality device -Bluetooth. I have hooked it up to my phone (SonyEricsson T610) and can view the internet via GPRS, copy my contacts and calendar from my phone to my PDA, write text messages on my PDA and send them through ... more

Advantages Advantages Compact size to fit in pocket, but screen large enough to watch movies

Disadvantages Disadvantages Unlike the later models, this does not have wi-fi

Although this does not have wi-fi like the T5, and has a much smaller memory chip, it is still an excellent product. The memory problem is easy to get round by placing all large items like audio books and movies on cards instead of on the palm, and the wi-fi lack can supposedly be got round by using bluetooth for the internet, although I have not tried this. You have a choice of using the alpha numeric keyboard or writing directly on the the palm, both with the stylis, and both are very easy to use. This comes in very handy when you are out and about and need to write down something, for ... more

Advantages Advantages collapsing graffitti area + rotating screen

Disadvantages Disadvantages would be even better with WiFi

I just upgraded from the Tungsten T, and I am really pleased with the T3. It has a much faster processor (nearly 3x), and the ability to rotate the screen into widescreen comes in very handy, especially when watching movies on MMPlayer. The colour is excellent, and although it took me a while to get used to the Graffitti 2 to enter text, it is a lot faster to write than on the old Palms. What i think would complete the whole package is if the T3 had WiFi technology as well as the Bluetooth, which would allow me to surf the net in lectures. However with the Bluetooth I can surf the net at home ... more

Advantages Advantages Very good, 64MB of RAM .

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Heavy.

This one is really good. It is kind of hevy but you wont notice after you get used to it. REALLY nice screen and graphics. It has a good TFT screen, rouhgly 65000 colors, and a good backlight. The screen is 320 x 480, good even though. 400 MHz is a good processor, very fast, and you can upgrade the memory with Secure Digital or Multimedia cards, for storage of photos and MP3s etc. Its operative system is Palm OS 5.2.1, I think thats one of the latest, not really sure though. It has a microphone, speaker and plug-in for headphones, good for MP3. It doesn't have WLAN but Bluetooth and IR. And ... more
